Easy answer to that honestly - many many players have been nagging without pause for the Payday masks to be put back in the game. They were however ripped out once DayZ hit 1.0, for licensing reasons, and since BI aren't likely to hawk up licence money for some silly bandit masks they opted to make new ones instead.

I will never use them myself, I think they're silly and out of place, but rest assured but they will be heavily used by players living out their psycho killer fantasies.

One advantage of the mask is that it justify kos. No need to hesitate, kos on sight.

Bunch of grumpy old grandpas throwing out words they don't even understand and think cars are still built like the 50's.This is DayZ in 2022 ladies and gentlemen. Cars work like they never have before since the new update. I know that geezers don't like changing how they think due to lower neuroplasticity but it is time to get with the times and read the 1.19 patch notes you skipped over to write your complaints since you lost at Bingo. This isn't alpha phase anymore.

This grumpy old geezer been in computers since before tcpip/ip was widespread and worked on networkin, performance, software, servers, hardware since yo mommy wiped the snot from your face.

I have a genuine question regarding Linux servers. What would it mean for DayZ if it had Linux servers? Would it make hosting easier/better/cheaper and would it improve performance in some way?

Not attacking or anything, just genuinely interested because I see people asking for Linux servers.

Speaking for myself, I have Linux servers I can use to run Dayz Server on. With linux I can just start up a new linux VM and run Dayz Server at no cost to me.

For windows I need a windows license and that is not free.

There is one point missing further information.
"Crashing into objects with the M1025 at low speeds would still result..." into instand death?!

A low speed (crawling while turning) crash into a rock destroyed my truck. My toon was fine, stuff in the truck was fine. I unloaded all my stuff. Truck de-spawned soon after that.

  5. @Kingfisher5564uFor someone quitting the game you sure do spend a lot of time talking about it. Dayz is not for you and that is OK. For the rest of us, we will stick around and start new adventures.

Good luck to you. I hope you find something else as good as Dayz. ( Faults and all! there are things to complain about, but with every upgrade and wipe, it just gets better! 🙂 )

This is like putting my money in a bank and having the clerk tell me my account has been erased.  Only its my time . Time wasted for nothing. Zero saved progress. I should have said no other game I  have played in over 40 years of gaming. Like I said they should advertise this.  Come play DAYZ , it's a great game but by the way we erase your player every 9 months.  Staying alive and surviving means nothing  and we don't care about your time.

I have over 40 years of gaming experience and can say this. DAYZ is a great game. no rules, pvp or not. Survive if you can. I have nothing against wiping the map just not the characters. I spent too much time working on mine. We already have to deal with toxic players, infected, rain, the dark, gas zones, animals and sickness. No, I will not accept my character being erased. I stand by my opinion. If my players are erased on the 18th I will uninstall the game on the 19th and it will be for good. I am in contact with several others who feel the same. I already put up with this nonsense once , not going to do it again. DAYZ  is going to lose some of its base. Im a 2 year player.  love the game hate the player wipes.

    @Kingfisher5564u

Michael, I feel your pain. The first wipe took me by surprise as well. I've been playing for 7+ years now. An I got used to it. Every time I get geared faster. An I actually enjoy the challenge once in a while.

BUT... What I can advise you is to start your own private server on your pc and play on that. It is easy!  You do not have to wipe and yo get the benefit of no wipes and no KOS. I have a massive base on my server and if I just want to relax and explore, I play on my server. If I feel like KOS I play on official or community server. Me and my son play on our server a lot and have fun building and finding new stuff. He only play on our server by the way.

Give your own server a shot first before you give up. Also, it will be a nice way to get the wife to play with no fear of other players, just the infected and survival to worry about.

You will love it... trust me.

I worked in a data center that provides server rentals. Of the 10,000 rental applications, only 15 are for servers with Windows. Now think for yourself.

It just makes sense to have a Linux server for dayz. 80% of servers in the real world runs linux. For a a small time operator it is very cost effective to run, admins are easy to get, and linux is very flexible and it is very capable at running diverse workloads. And the big one, most patches can go in without a reboot!

It is way cheaper to commission a linux server for dayz than it is with windows. To pay for a windows server  when you can get linux practically free makes no sense imho.

With all that said, Windows is very capable. So it boils down to personal preference and money. AND it is great to have options!

  8. The one major delay in getting DayZ out of beta was the new engine. I think we will see DayZ fully utilizing Enfusion quicker that people think.

Take a look at the July 2019 status report for history on this, specifically the response from the dev's on the reaction to that update.

My content has nothing to do with this conversation.  Nor does anyone being a youtuber, big or small have any weight on their criticism towards a game that they have thousands upon thousands of hours on. But your snide comments just show who here is the one who has a bad attitude and is disrespectful. I wouldn't want you watching my videos or streams anyway.

And no, it's not over just hit detectors. It's over the ENTIRE direction the game has taken since they've become project lead.
We gave them criticism. The majority criticism as that we do not want it in the game.
Majority criticism from the community was that we wanted gun sounds reverted to how they were in 1.12.
They do not listen to criticism very well at all, and that's evident by the amount of things added into 1.13 + 1.15 as a whole that essentially NO ONE asked for.

I think perhaps you need to understand that a lot of the community is completely fed up with the direction this game has taken this year.

    How was the "majority" determined?

I do not think the direction of the game has changed one bit. At it's core it's still an excellent survival game with persistence. Has that changed?

Great job dev's. And great job to all the modder's. KubeloLive's Banov map is golden!!

Thanks.  I'm still following development and playing a bit here and there, but the lack of leather tanning really keeps me from getting too into the game.

How are you liking the latest updates?

I play a couple of hours per week and enjoy it. Mostly just me and my son goofing around and exploring on our own server.

I like the stability the new updates provide, base building improvements and map improvements, but miss the busses and trucks the most. Some of my best times playing was when we used to pick people up with the bus and went base raiding.

  11. Development may have slowed down, the road to version 1.0 littered with broken promises....

But I have been playing games on PC for <muffled voice> ~35 </> years and THIS game is by far the most bang for my buck I ever got.

Warcraft (not the crap WoW) is a distant second followed by Spacequest.

DayZ for me is still  an escape, adventure and fun. Especially now during the real life covid apocalypse where I cannot go on frigging vacation!

  12. @CantStopDyingFind a buddy to play with. A buddy that knows the game well and can show you the ropes is way better than videos and guides. If your buddy is a novice you learn from each other and have fun at the same time.

Teaming up makes the game easier and more funner 🙂

    Survive!
