FinalNinja447 129 Posted October 10, 2012 Is the counter on the DayZ front page broken? It did lasted 1h08m when all the noobs came in a few months ago but a well experienced player will last at least 2-5 days easily unless it's a KoS bandit (Who might I say, still doesn't understand the game).Looking forward to the average life expectancy in standalone. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) Kamenka lighthouse suicides result in a much lower average life expectency.^This^Most CoDdies will probably suicide until they spawn in Elektro or ChernoEDIT: I've been playing for a couple of months and I've only ever spawned at Elektro once, So the chance must be fairly slim too. Zombie Jesus 723 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) Man you live 48-120 hours of in game time? I used to grind out long survival times on medium population servers (longest character was 28 days of heavy play time, murdered by a KoS rock) but I would say I average about 5-10 in game hours er character, maybe less if you count stupid new spawn carelessness. Im a bandit and seek out and kill anyone I see. But my public hive char and most of my private hive characters are on lifes of between 30-60 days. I also like Kamenka spawns over cherno/elektro spawns. Kamenka etc takes more skill and experience but is a better spawn once you know what to do. I never suicide on spawn. Its not a case of KOS players suiciding, its a case of bad players suiciding.

Its not a case of KOS players suiciding, its a case of bad players suiciding. On Chernarus I would have to agree with that statement, on Takistan and Fallujah I will straight up end my life if I get some terrible spawn (especially the BS desert spawns in Takistan, who wants to run 3000 meters to get to an area worth looting). The only thing that truly drags down my average is I tend to not really care for the 30 minutes of my life as a newspawn, so if I see a guy with an MK Mod I will rush him with my hatchet like a boss. If I die who cares, but if I kill him it is very funny (at least for me, I know many people do not appreciate the humor in losing a fully geared character to a guy with a hatchet, pain pills, bandage, and patrol pack).People complain about Kamenka without realizing it is easy to run up to Zeleno and hit up a few deer stands on the way or even hit Balota (although I prefer the Zeleno route) and the Three Valleys or Solinchiny spawns are not that far from Berenzino which is a fairly safe city to gear up in as well. It would be funny as hell to see a ax madman rushing me. Stuff like that makes the game fun as hell!

Stuff like that makes the game fun as hell!Yea I know, I was actually killed recently by a hatchet wielding madman due to the scroll wheel being over my pistol. Instead of unloading a clip from my M14 aim when I saw him 10 meters away (had a broken leg on a hill after a battle with someone else) I switched guns and shot him in the foot with half a G17 clip before I was knocked out. Laughed my ass off on that death. On the flip side I murdered a guy on Fallujah who came into a warehouse I was looting with an AS50 TWS and all I had was a hatchet. Side chat was enabled and the guy was very butthurt about that encounter, I just told him to laugh it off shit happens in Dayz but he just continued to rage and rage. Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted October 10, 2012 I never had a problem surviving longer than 10 days easy until Hetstaine and I started playing drunk together and go on slenderman hunts. My average life now has decreased to an hourly basis.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted October 10, 2012 If you want to survive for days on end it is quite easy to do - and incredibly boring. Who wants to grab a hatchet, matches and a hunting knife and then go live in the woods for 60 days?My life expectancy is usually a gaming session ( 2-3 hours a night) because i hang around the highly populated areas for fun and adventure. I almost always end the night after getting finally shot at and killed.Last night was a prime example. I had a good run and had fixed up an ATV. I was due to log out so i decided to head to where i was sure a noob or two would be and hand them the keys to the Love Quad. Sure enough i stopped near the coast to have a look for a new spawn when pfffffftttt - sniped! Ahhh, gotta love DayZ.
K3nks 0 Posted October 11, 2012 I started playing the highest pop servers I could find. I spawned 3 times in the same spot the other night (near docks in Cherno). I found a friendly with an AS50, we talked for a while then I went to get my gear from my dead body (food, an AK and the basic survival stuff). However after finding my body I found another with a spare ghillie, Coyote backpack, NVG's Stanag rounds and a hacked in G36. I took the pack, ghillie and stanag and hid the body. I walked about 10 m and my face was taken off by an AS50. I don't thing my new friend knew it was me. Doh! My average is about 2 hours. A bit longer when I head north to find a vehicle. sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted October 11, 2012 I'll be happy if the zombie AI is increased so drastically that the average life expectancy drops to 10 minutes.Kamenka lighthouse suicides result in a much lower average life expectency.I hope they change the texture on that lighthouse. A simple spray painted message of "don't do it!" or a suicide hotline number seems appropriate.
Bludy 324 Posted October 11, 2012 i like when i spawn in kamenka and i can loot suiciders bodies..now i have so many bandages and pain killers that i need only a hatchet and a can of beans and i'm ready to go everywhere

Bongofish 22 Posted October 11, 2012 not everyone like to carebear out in the woods filling water bottlesWhat the hell does that even mean?I don't get this 'carebear' term. Is it supposed to be an insult or does it just refer to anyone who does not pvp or is there some specific meaning that I haven't come across?I usually see it used by pvp'ers and I assume they mean it as an insult (like when misogynist young boys call others whiteknights for not being douchebags to women), but this usage has confused me.
