bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) I notice Rocket constantly mentioning Reddit any time he talks about player feedback/suggestions.-Why do you think he likes reddit so much?-Am I missing out on some important DayZ discussions not being on that site?-Does that mean he doesn't pay much attention to these forums anymore?I've never used reddit, it seems too disorganized for my taste, and I don't really have time for yet another discussion board. I'm just curious what the draw is, if it's the format, the people, the lack of certain people...something. Edited October 10, 2012 by bad_mojo
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted October 10, 2012 Maybe because Reddit is actually a good place to share news and get views across?!!
bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted October 10, 2012 Maybe because Reddit is actually a good place to share news and get views across?!!I'm asking why it's a good place. What are the factors that make it the best choice?
SmashT 10907 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) The upvoting system allows him to see the most popular ideas out of thousands easily.Usually if there is something noteworthy it will be posted/linked on the forums, eg the reddit Q&A thread. He uses both. Zombie Jesus 723 Posted October 10, 2012 Smash is being nice, Reddit has a better system to sift through the mountains of crap that is posted on any forum. On this forum he would have to sift through piles of shit just to find the one kernel of truth (gross).

bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted October 10, 2012 A similar system can't be applied to these forums?
daze23 549 Posted October 10, 2012 A similar system can't be applied to these forums?yeah.... beansthe problem with the upvote/downvote thing is it seems to lose it's power over time. basically good ideas that are made soon after the topic is created get upvoted. but if you have a good idea later on, it tends to get lost in the shuffle
Sakeoe (DayZ) 115 Posted October 10, 2012 Yeah, why doesn't he post on the Misc instead? Much larger and healthier community

Yes, it looks like someone vomited all over the site.To Smash. We need a form of a Upvoting/Downvoting system. That doesn't push all the new idea's out of the way. I'm sure you can't do anything but passing the idea along wont hurt anyone.
RogueOne 112 Posted October 10, 2012 There should be a blog or something on this site where that stuff gets posted. If I was looking for news for dayzmod I would go to the website not somewhere else. Sounds kind of odd..

Good luck getting your post noticed if there are already 200 posts in a thread. No matter how great the post is almost no one will see it because everyone is only reading the top 50 posts that have already been upvoted.

Sounds kind of odd..Pretty much anything noteworthy gets posted about in the information section of the forum anyway, including Q&A's, interviews, developer presentations, developer blogs. :/ Edited October 10, 2012 by smasht_AU
Sula 1205 Posted October 10, 2012 I've never even visited reddit. Can't say my life feels empty without it. I noticed the references to reddit he makes too. Maybe he has shares in it! :)

Hetstaine 10852 Posted October 11, 2012 I think because Rocket is a Redditter ? This forum and site was obviously made after the mod became popular but Rockets roots go back to Reddit. Thats my take on it anyway :) I agree the layout of reddit is terrible.
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted October 11, 2012 Never used it thought it was a red headed dating site.
klesh 2423 Posted October 11, 2012 I don't use it either; the layout does look awful as well.
Sula 1205 Posted October 11, 2012 Steak and Potatoes - your post has redheads either side of it! Coincidence? I think not! You know something we don't? *wiggles eyebrows*I thought reddit was a book review site. ;)
rekrul 91 Posted October 11, 2012 Exactly, also see Slashdot. Good luck getting your post noticed if there are already 200 posts in a thread. No matter how great the post is almost no one will see it because everyone is only reading the top 50 posts that have already been upvoted.I agree but it's better than sifting through 15 pages to find a nugget or two. For this to work I here I think there should be a heavy moderated thread with suggestions only - no discussion. Then you create a parallel discussion only - no suggestions thread to pile the heaps of shit in. ;) The mods would delete anything that says "I don't agree with x because y" or opposite. Also only structured posts following a specific layout like bulletpoints with one-liners on top and then a paragraphed, descriptive text beneath if needed. Any posts failing to follow that would be deleted. This would limit the number of posts and it would be very easy for the devs to read through and allow them to ignore the half-a-page-Godzilla suggestion without missing the genius inventory system in the same post. SkrooLoose (DayZ) 143 Posted October 11, 2012 I thought Reddit was Duddit's red-headed step sister.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted October 11, 2012 that is it, the final straw, I have had enough of being ignored.I'm leaving DayZ because Rocket doesn't frequent the forums as much, I find it outrageous he would not support his own Mod's and future SA by listening to fans opinions and suggestions. NOOOO Rocket would rather spend his time with his real friends and not us twats.I'm going to WarD as they reply to their fans on their forums I would rather hear shite than nothing at all. :P
