How to hide a camp?

Hide it right on top of milk mountain, I promise that nobody will ever find it up there. Ignore any other empty tents you find on the top of the hill before you set up your camp, they just move there, it's like the debug forest for tents...

There is no safe spot to hide your stuff at. There is always the odd risk involved no matter where you put your tents.

The problem is that people know how to spot them from far away and most people who are looking for them looks in all the places that may seem like good spots.

Consider the following... (Fictitious numbers involved)

There are 100 good places on the map all scattered around the map.

The map is 225 km².

That is one good spot per 2.25 km²

Standing in the middle of a 2.25 km² "spot" lets you see all corners of that area on a good day. (ignoring terrain features)

The "spot" grid is 15x15, you need to run ~33.75 km to go from end to end in the grid. Running speed is 17 km/h so it should take ~2 hours to scan one column of spots.

In total it would take 30 hours to do a sweep of the whole map for a single player.

It's only a matter of time really... If there are 30 people on the server and they are all scattered around the map and all looking for camps you could estimate that your camp would be found in 1-2 hours with them on foot.

Then you mix in the various force multipliers and the fact very few hide their camps in the middle of an open field. Having a quadbike (or similar) allows you to travel at 50 km/h, effectively tripling the search speed.

And finally, with a helicopter you can (given you have a good spotter onboard) even divide the search time by 10.

Yes, there are places that cannot be seen from less than 200 meters away. Those are the places that will be searches first though by a veteran player.

Like i said, it's just a matter of time. There are no safe spots. Eventually someone will stumble over your camp and there is nothing you can do to stop it barring having someone looking over it with a sniper rifle 24/7.

Which brings me to the conclusion, only keep what you can carry. The best hiding spot of all time is the database. That's where your character goes when you log off.

Best way to hide tents is to place them inside of an object or a random building in the middle of nowhere.

Yup ive got 5 camps dotted around the map , not one has been found / raided yet

My friend managed to hide one in a massive stone in the ground. Unless hour about the ten feet away from the right side, you would never seen it.
