Snipers aren't a problem. People should stop moaning.

I have no idea what the OP is on about tbh because I don't think I've ever been sniped. Maybe that's because I don't run in a straight line and I choose a decent route into wherever I go. Whenever I am in Elektro or Cherno my biggest problem is other players with basic weapons. Once you're in the city snipers aren't a threat unless ur going to stand out in the open but other players in the city will take you out.

As Pahvilaatikko said, the spawn rate of weapons needs to change. I haven't found a CZ550 in fucking weeks, never find an M24 yet fucking M107's and AS50's are all over the place because of the amount that spawn at choppers sites. Even without duping they would be more common (2 M107's and 2 AS50's at one chopper site the other day I shit you not). High tier rifles should be at least 1000:1 chance of spawning and hunting rifles should be fairly common.

Sniper rifles shouldn't be removed completely.

Make all those "high end" sniper rifles much, much harder to find and increase the amount of CZ 550 and other more "low-end" sniper rifles.

I find it pretty fucking stupid, that you can easily find a heli crash with a L85 and/or M107/AS50 next to it. Yay, so realistic.

Won't matter if you make certain guns more rare. Until duping is stopped all people need is 1

I was in Elektro once to get new supplies, and when exiting through the west part I heard a sniper shooting at me. two shots, and very close they wizzed by. I just knew he was camping north of me, So I ran from building to building further back to the east and I couldn't spot him.

I slowly but steadily left the city and tried to avoid open vision to the north.

Snipers will be snipers. They are like sentries, just stay out of their line of fire and they are harmless.

Whenever you venture into the cities, just try to avoid direct line of sight with the known spots, and if you have to do something stupid as stand around in plain sight, then at least keep moving in unpredictable directions.

Snipers aren't my issue. A majority of them suck. Not ''stereotyping'' but I guarentee most of them are the consolefags/codfags who bought into the day-z hype and just wanna pvp, so the skill level is non existant half the time. But, If you're truely bothered, join a low pop till you're out the coastal area. I feel more pity for them though, like when I'm a new spawn literally fresh of the beach and they hit me it's like...good job guy. Not even rage, just...what was the point?

i dont think snipers are a problem, but the high end rifles, not even the M107, but the AS50.. really? they had to make a one-shot weapon no matter where you hit the target, okay, but SEMI-AUTOMATIC? WTF?

The M107 and AS50 are just to no-skill f*cking easy, you only need to hit your enemy, anywhere, dead

i love all other sniper rifles, but the AS50 is just ridiculous

to the spawn snipers, yeah... they are just funny^^ being douches and all...

>>>Sniping should at least take skill<<<

If you've ever played on a private hive with tent duping fixed, you know that someone sniping fresh spawns with an AS50 or M107 almost never happens. I made the switch to private hives about a month ago and let me tell you, only once in 25 days have I seen anyone sniping fresh spawns. It was in Elektro, and they had a DMR, and it took like 15 shots to kill someone. He blew through his entire 140 bullet stockpile in 15 minutes and then it was over (I was hiding in the top floor of the gray concrete schoolhouse and I counted the shots). That was it, the guns and ESPECIALLY the ammo were still very hard to get. When someone does get struck by lightning and find an AS50 at a chopper crash (which is a 1% spawn chance with 5 or 6 item spots, so its about a 1 in 20 chance) the ammo is so valuable that using it on "Bambi McNooblet" is a complete waste.

0.99^6= 0.94

0.94^5= 0.73

a 27% chance that an as50 spawns (with 5 crash sites each with 6 spawns)

thats not at all rare in my terms

Yes, because we have to do the necessary to "survive" by shooting unarmed people 600 meters away, they really pose a serious threat. Enough with that bullshit, go hunt animals and gut their bodies instead of shooting random new spawns and not looting them... Makes so much sense to "survive or defend yourself" from someone completely oblivious to the fact that someone with a 50 cal is going to kill them.

because carrying around

14 kg as50

8 kg's worth of magazines/.50 ammo

10kg backpack

3kg m4 backup

3kg of 5.56 magazines

=38kg

might be a bit much for a civilian, let alone for a civilian to run with, a marines trains with what? 35 pounds of gear + his armour?

35pounds= 15.8 kilograms

to balance out the larger weapons dayz needs a stamina system, more shit u carry =

the less distance you can move without getting hungry/thirsty

the more scope sway u have to after moving

the more time it takes u to catch your breath after moving

you should move slower overall

you should be at higher risk of tripping and sustaining injury over uneven terrain

and anything else I haven't thought that fits.

you asked why to remove it, why should it be kept? what survivor would look at a .50 rifle and think, golly gosh I'd love to carry that on my back, not only does it weight a lot, have a huge profile, but it'll also draw in every zombie within a 5 mile radius when fired, it doesn't fit in with the whole, survival aspect of this mod....

I have no problem with snipers, its just those 2 rifles are silly to have in dayz..

I don't know what army you're thinking of but I know people who've been in the military and one right now is training with 40KG of gear.

In that context, I'm pretty sure if the outbreak occurred in real life, not too many cities will have civilians manning .50 snipers on rooftops... Shooting them without dopping a scope with uncanny accuracy.

I think you'd never run into such weaponry with such occasion, nor would so many people be getting sniped while in a grocery store.

Those getting killed while in a town by someone with a rifle in the same supermarket... Or in a house across the street, seems more plausible to me.

This is why I like survive dayz. All stupid .50 cals removed. Only the DMR, CZ and M24. They are also super rare.

I noticed much more balanced sense of game play. Especially with NVG/thermal out. I've been really enjoying a more balanced approach that has less snipers, and more grounded firefights.

Thing is what you're describing is how Day Z would be if it weren't for dupers and people scripting weapons in. Yes there'd be 50. cals but people wouldn't risk losing them by shooting bambi's if it wasn't so easy to get them back.

someone modded dayz so it has no .50 rifles, less high tech gear and no sd weaponry, gonna try it if i can find a server with it

6% per crash site... That means that it is reasonable that someone might check 12 chopper crashes and still not find an AS50. Calculate the average distance between chopper crashes while assuming that someone cant have a vehicle if they are server hopping to find more crashes. So average speed 15-20kph. That is ungodly hours of farming for 1 AS50. I call that rare, you can call it what you want.

This also all assumes that a chopper will have 6 loot spots guaranteed, which I don't think is true.

I don't care about snipers. How are Dayz snipers any different from COD or Battlefield snipers? Don't want to get sniped? Stay clear of Electro or Cherno. Use trees and building for cover. Run serpentine patterns across open fields.

The only thing I don't like about snipers is sometimes I can't tell if I was sniped or instakilled by some hacker.
