Bluntsworth 3 Posted October 3, 2012 For starters, I am not an Arma vet and I've been playing the Dayz mod for less than a week. And this is just a suggestion that might help out lone-wolf players likemyself. My suggestion is as follows : provided your full on heat, food, and drink - your blood will regenerate SLOWLY.My main reasoning being that sometimes server populations are low; or friends arent available to perform a blood transfusion.P.S. -- always down to join up w/ a small group of survivors/friendlies for some fun

Mos1ey 6301 Posted October 3, 2012 Yeah, just find a cow. It gives you 8 meat steaks and each one gives you back 800 blood.I do think you should slowly recover blood over time though. It makes sense...

dillonblunts 25 Posted October 3, 2012 you can lose half of your blood IRL before you die (given, you would be in terrible shape, but alive nonetheless)after your done bleeding IRL your body does regenerate missing blood, slowly, assuming you eat well and nothing else even remotely bad happens to you you will be back at 100% blood eventually.although, with even canned food giving you blood back, this is kind of simulated already being as how you would definitely need to eat to regenerate IRL

Lights Out 141 Posted October 3, 2012 I think your blood should regenerate at all times. Depending on your overall well being, the percentage at which your blood regenerates would vary. For an example, being amply hydrated and nourished will increase the rate at which blood generates. It will be realistically slow, however factors like this would up the regeneration percentage. If you haven't eaten and are sick, this would inhibit your blood regeneration.I can't speak for how quickly blood would regenerate in each situation as I'm not well versed in the medical field, but I believe it should somewhat mirror real life. Maybe logging off and "sleeping" could also increase the rate of regeneration slightly. This however would have to be very carefully implemented to avoid exploits. Maybe to get this percentage "buff", you must be logged off for 7 to 8 hours straight. (The recommended good night sleep)I believe food should no longer directly give you blood, but instead slightly increase the percentage at which your blood regenerates. The only direct and immediate way to gain blood should be through blood bags.

Forgewolf 70 Posted October 3, 2012 I do think you should slowly recover blood over time though. It makes sense...Agreed.. Realistically. Blood does get replace in the human body. It would be very slow though.. Like maybe 100 blood an hour or something like that. And on top of that, the 800 for eating meat.
Lopine 9 Posted October 3, 2012 I was low on blood and ate some caned food and it heald regend a bit of blood. Was around 2k gaind about 1k from eatin and drinking stuff.
starwarsfan@gmx.de 450 Posted October 3, 2012 The helath system will be overhauled in the standalone anyway, there probably won't be any eating food for blood anymore. But for the mod I think it would be nice to have blood regenerate to some degree.
bazbake 456 Posted October 3, 2012 Like I described in a separate thread, using the rate for starving to death from full blood being 90 minutes and 40%/4 pints/4 units of the average person's blood loss equaling cardiac arrest/death IRL, I calculated that 3,000 blood is the in-game equivalent of a pint of blood and an appropriate health regeneration based on the thirst/hunger scale would be 3,000 blood an hour. That's an authentic system for blood regeneration.I also believe that blood packs should be able to be used by everybody and should be the only way to quickly regenerate health. To balance this out, blood packs should only restore 1 unit of blood as they do IRL, or 3,000 blood. This would also mean that food no longer regenerates blood. Instead, your hunger and thirst level would determine how much blood you regenerate.ThirstFlashing Red = No blood regeneration/20 blood loss per tick.Empty to Green = No Effect.HungerFlashing Red = No blood regeneration/20 blood loss per tickEmpty to Yellow(Half) = Half blood regeneration speed.Yellow(Half) to 75% = 75% blood regeneration speed.90% to Green (Full) = Full blood regeneration.Blood would regenerate at 50 blood/minute and 3,000 blood/hour. A blood pack would heal at 3,000 blood/hour.Under this system, both food and blood packs would always have value and your character status would have to be steadily maintained in order to perform at peak health. Furthermore, you wouldn't be able to duck behind a wall and instantly heal your teammate back to full health. Taking too much damage would instead be motivation to escape instead of just posting up.On the other hand, people would likely hoard blood packs even harder, but it would at least push players toward resources more aggressively. And lone-wolf characters won't be able to simply hide in the shadows hunting rabbits all day long whenever they suffer damage. Instead of killing a cow and healing back half of your health, it would take constant eating and hydration + two hours of game time to restore that damage. BCaused 49 Posted October 3, 2012 I think they should add a rare drop in hospitals which are syringes and if you fuse a blood bag with them you can inject blood in to yourself
Calinthor 5 Posted October 3, 2012 I think they should add a rare drop in hospitals which are syringes and if you fuse a blood bag with them you can inject blood in to yourselfI like that, but add "with a chance of being infected by a dirty needle"...a slight chance, like 10-20%. So there's a risk in doing it.Also, I didn't like the whole "Eat a steak and INSTANTLY gain 800 blood, then Eat Another one, etc until full". If you want realism.. Eating a steak heals 800 blood over time (accelerated from reality), say 10-15min, and no force feeding blood to full. Any additional steaks won't add to blood until the effects of the other one wears off or just reset the timer each time they eat a steak, that's simpler to code. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Make a fire, cook a cow. Done. This is why McDonalds are everywhere. Not every country has NHS, and not everyone can afford medical insurance. In some places a £1.29 double cheeseburger is the best you can hope for if you're shot a couple of times.Or a McFlurry when a door breaks your leg.EDIT: Back to reality - With blood regeneration over time, more encounters will have you fearing for your life. The way it should be. It would also stop everyone from always being perfectly healthy.Food shouldn't give a set quantity of blood. That always feels a bit retro, like Streets of Rage turkeys.
