Please do pass this info on in Google+, Facebook *Shudders*, Twitter, and other DayZ sites you may be on. You never know.. I mean if people can band up online, it wont be long till a news site picks up on this and passes the word on even more. (Or Kotaku, IGN, whoever) Thanks for the support guys. Even if you dont "care" about any of this. Just think about this. 2 Gamers who try to make games.. being held in Greece.. imagine how you would feel. I hope this all works out but taking a side in an espionage case based on a friend's plea is absurd no matter how epic a developer he is.

It sounds a little suspicious that 2 developers working on a military sim based on the Greek island of Lemnos both happen to go on vacation on that island. On top of that, the Greeks say they were taking photos and video of a Greek military base on the island without permission. This sounds very plausible and would technically be espionage at one of the most strategic positions in Greece (see Turkish invasion of Cyprus, 1974).

I hope this all works out but taking a side in an espionage case based on a friend's plea is absurd no matter how awesome a developer he is.

No it's not. The Arma 3 map is finished. There is no reason for BIS to send devs to "spy" on military bases this far in development.

Arma 2/DayZ has already made some people visit the "Chernarus" in Czech Republic. These guys were doing the same as other fans, except they've spent the better part of their day for the past 2 years working with this fictional island...of course they were going to check it out.

if this all is correct just deserved, but i think a gaming company is smart enough to finance and get the right papers for such matters. If they are real tourist ok set them free, if they did actually made pictures of the military with no right papers. This will be a blow to Bohemia. Either way i still recall a similar event a few years ago were british tourists were arrested and got sentenced for 3 years for taking pictures at a airshow. Toursim will take a turn with this for Greece me thinks if they are wrong.

I hope that the charges are dropped and that they get out soon, however i have never really understood these types of things where people say "free this person free that" if they really didnt do anything then they will be set free if not then they will serve the time and eventually get out depending on the charges that were placed against them. Also its not like the judges in greece or any judge for that matter are gonna look at a signed petition or post with alot of likes and say this person was well known and liked you shall be set free.

yeah, I agree

if anything, I need more information on the specifics of what they were charged with, what the law says, what their accusers claim, what they claim, and of course the photos/video in question

"all tourists take pictures of that" doesn't mean much. it could just mean other people got away with it, and you got caught
