Be careful what program you use to launch DayZ

Hello,

I downloaded DayZ Commander today and I got a bad copy or something. I'd like to warn everyone to only download DayZ Commander or SiX from their official sites as the version I got contained a hack which got me Global Banned. Not here to bitch or appeal (as this isn't the place to do so) just want to warn the rest of the DayZ community that this exists and to be careful as to not end up like me.

You should really try to appeal the ban since it is hardly your fault. I think they'd understand. Also, would it have been your first time playing DayZ or have you played before?

I sent a message to BattlEye to appeal. However someone just pointed out to me that the program may have just overwritten/stolen my cd-key, so I am re-installing Operation Arrowhead to try to fix it. I have played DayZ for several months.

What are you talking about? They never understand, Battleye have told people who had their CD Keys stolen that they are sorry, but they need to buy a new copy. This is no different really, they aren't going to be sympathetic. Anyway, sorry to hear that this happened, that sucks big time. There is an official link in a stickied thread for DayZ Commander if you're buying another copy.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've heard that if I re-install my game then my CD-Key will come back to me and wont be able to be used by others.

How long do you think it would take for them to sell my CD Key? Its gonna take a little more than an hour to install OA.

TBH, depending on how their doing it they could sell it within minutes. Hopefully though they're not very organised or popular and you should beat them to the punch. Good luck mate!

You know why BattleEye has that stance? Becuase the majority of people who have gotten the CD Key stolen got it stolen while trying to apply a hack\cheat program. Those worthless kiddies got exactly what they deserved.

And personally if the OP got his stolen too it is his own fault. You should never download from a site that you do not trust.

Using Steam as launcher prevent the need to download any other launcher.

Therefore no need to be afraid of downloading any malware in that case.

Also to those wondering about launcher. If you don't want to use steams launch preferences then download SIX launcher from the official site.

you can change your CD-Key without having to reinstall Arma2, you know?

and if someone stole your key, what point is in reinstalling the game?

if your machine is infected you have more serious problems than your key -.-

what will it help if you get a new one?

will be stolen like the last one, if you dont do anything.

I was unaware you could change it without re-installing. And from what BattlEye page said is they copy your key and give you a non working one. I didn't know how to change it so I reinstalled. I've done virus and malware scans and everything seems safe now.

I think the program sold your CD-Key, and then the people who bought it got it banned. That's how it works I think.

+press win button, type regedit, got HKEY_local_machine - software - wow6432node if 64bit - bohemia interactive

+delete arma folders

+restart steam, you have your original key back

+hope the guy with your key is never on keep logged ingme so whoever tries to play with your key gets key in use message
