Deppy 5 Posted September 25, 2012 Just a suggestion.this would make the game seem more realisticbecause a normal citizen isnt trained to use guns.soooooomaybe if you had to use a gun for a long time for your character to actually get used it tofor exampleReload speed , accuracy , weight and ofc controlling the recoil.just putting my ideas out there so only constuctive citicism pl0x
Tabris07 159 Posted September 25, 2012 I agree with this as long as the advantages don't build up to a point where the game is pretty much doing the shooting for you.
indominator 95 Posted September 25, 2012 i believe this will not even be implemented, and they dont want this to have any stats system, or not, heard rocket will implement and invisible one. I agree with you, and this could be a game changer(pun intended), so yeah, implement it. In this way i could get more rewarded of doing repairs and playing doctor, than actually shooting that i dont do well and wouldnt like to all the time. This godlike proficiency makes bandits more bandits and too easy to snipe and shoot other people, and it wouldnt change the game for bandits, because they have used their guns so much that they will have no difference. Win/win if you benefit me on other activities that i do.
Hydra (DayZ) 472 Posted September 25, 2012 I like to make backstories for my characters. What if my character had spent years in Takistan shooting the hell out of everything as a merc? What if he is a super assassin from Yugoslavia that possesses a fear of cattle? What if my character is a malaria-stricken mercenary from Africa that loves diamonds and magical drugs? What if he is Santa Claus?

mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted September 25, 2012 This could work, but only if the way weapons handle now is the absolute MAXIMUM proficiency possible. no way just anybody on the street could hit anything with a 50 cal. from 1Km, let alone fire 10+ rounds down field with less than 2 metres of spread. Your supposed to be a random survivor, not Action Movie Hero Boy.

OrLoK 16185 Posted September 25, 2012 Hello thereWhilst I understand OP's point I don't think it would fit in as my avatar already does many many things I cannot.Ie skin and prepare a freshly killed boar or driving (I never bothered to learn) not to mention fully repair and fly a helicopter. Just putting in a skill for weapon proficiency seems to be a little low on the list of proficiencies.rgdsLoK
Deppy 5 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) then maybe jus have proficiency for everything...EDIT: weapons are just a start anyways. Edited September 25, 2012 by Deppy
shagohad 124 Posted September 25, 2012 only issue is it makes it kinda grindylike i can what? just find an extra akm mag, then fire it into a wall = now im better at it.I agree though that currently its too easy. I think if in general guns had larger tradeoffs for using them it would be better. For example wieght should be an issue, recoil, noise (more of an issue than it is now)im sure also current methods of ranging (mousewheeling on regular servers) will not be effective and so actually learning the zeroing of your rifle will be important. would be cool if you had to adjust every rifel you found, therfore the practice has a tangible meaning (not just progress on a skill bar)
terex 322 Posted September 25, 2012 This game doesn't need a skill leveling up system.. If you want to say it's like real life with weapon handling you can't ignore the other unrealistic game features.. Cleaning them and such. It's on the other side of the line where realism takes away from the game.
starwarsfan@gmx.de 450 Posted September 25, 2012 Always with the accuracy skill... it's a gun, you point and shoot. It's really not that hard. Besides it's just something to give people that have survived longer a way to get the upper hand on new spawns really. It's not realistic.
MasterZ 90 Posted September 25, 2012 The only thing I want to see on this field is gun durability.Guns need to be cleaned and maintained to be used properly, neglect maintenance and your gun might start jamming or become unusable entirely if you go to far. DemonGroover 8836 Posted September 25, 2012 I think sniping needs to be addressed in that it is far too easy to hit a target from 1000m. The sights are too steady, the recoil brings the sights back to where you last had them and wind doesnt seem to factor into anything. So they have bullet drop - so what.Have you ever zoomed into something really closeup with a camera? It is hard enough to stay focussed on someone who is still, let alone running around. That is what a sniper scope should look like when a mere survivor has a sniper rifle - not the steady hands of the frigging Terminator we all seem to have at the moment. If someone hits me from 1000m with a sniper rifle i want to say "Great shot you earned that one!"Please flame me if i am wrong and that today's sniper rifles somehow have built in features that allows you to quickly and accurately zoom in and take out a moving target from half a mile away.
