AS50 TWS. Just checking with you guys so I don't get Banned.

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, Killed a hacker today on some random server (Forget which, I was in cherno and I think I startled him while he was running around.) I saw him at the supermarket and he shot me with a full auto pistol, I unloaded about 4-5 shots into him with the FN FAL and he went DOWN. Looted his body and found a Skorpion type weapon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0korpion_vz._61) and an AS50 TWS. Took both and put them in my backpack, headed back to camp, and contemplated what to do next. I've heard mixed stories about hacked in weapons, I've heard they're fine to pick up and use, but you get banned if you script them in. I'm not a big fan of scripters, and I'd never do that myself, so that crosses out that option. But what about picking them up and using them? I've heard people tell me I can get banned for both using and picking them up, but I've heard that also you can't (SOURCE:http://www.battleye.com/support.html)

So whats the verdict? Will I get banned? If not, and it's perfectly legal, then I'm gonna use it to hunt bandits. I'm a hero. I'll smite them with my .50 holy justice. But If I get banned...?

Thanks guys, for your help.

This question has been asked a million times. Use the search button. And seriously, you just know it's wrong, even though 100 people will say it's wrong, you are looking for that one person to say it's alright.

Both of those are illegal.

Hackers weapons:

You CANNOT be globally banned for using them, but many servers will ban you from their server if you are seen with one.

Spawning illegal things is running scripts that are not meant to be in-game. (= Global ban.)

However it does break server-hosting rules for banning people with them, as server admins are only allowed to ban for racist talk, but the majority do anyway.

In short: Spawning = a global no no & Using = 90% of servers no no

However, is there any way of a server owner being able to check what kind of weapon I'm using without him seeing me?

Before I knew what guns were what I had a similair experience, an unpleasant one in fact. Had the weapon for about a week, racked up plenty of kills and enjoyed the piss out of the thermal...until I logged in a server and was promptly banned upon log in for HAVING it! I have never hacked or cheated and was rather embarrassed to be lumped in with the likes of those people. I killed a zombie and promptly buried the gun and appealed my ban. Morale to the story? Don't even pick the damn thing up because although it is an extremely effective weapon, it is NOT a natural part of the DayZ mod. That in and of itself makes it cheating and therefore unworthy of legit players.

And this is what I was worried about. Crap.

Hates hackers, but loves their gear.

Seems like there's a double standard somewhere.

Yes, whenever you log in, use a tent, or spawn, your inventory is stored in the server logs, I myself have seen multiple people log into my server with hacked weapons on them just from reading the logs.

Yes, the admin can see what you're carrying whenever he/she wants. Just play safe and don't bother with the hacked stuff.

Alrighty then. Thanks Fraggle. I just wanted an official definition. Time to scrap this thing.

Yes, don't bother what they say about one almost useless program letting it slip. There are hundreds of admins that won't.

And for disruptive exploitation, what qualifies as disruptive is left to the discretion of the admin, and considering the current network hierarchy rightly so.

No you cannot because you got it off a legit player who actually got it off a hacker so no. Joke

If a server bans/kicks you just for using a found weapon that was hacked in they are breaking the rules and can get black listed.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46844-hackers/#entry446536

In order for a server to ban you they must be able to provide proof that YOU were hacking.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46844-hackers/#entry446536

Yes I just posted the same link twice and I'll do it again too.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46844-hackers/#entry446536

Perhaps the server admins will get the hint.

Using hacked in weapons is not against the rules. Hacking the weapons in is against the rules.

Don't like it? Petition Rocket to change the rules and/or actually monitor the player database and remove the offending weapons from the database.

Hacked weapons qualify as a disruptive exploit. Therefore the ban is at the discretion of the SA. Don't like it? Petition Rocket to pay for 4000 of his own servers.

And the banning server runs the risk of getting black listed.

99% of the hacked in weapons aren't any different, other than appearance, from the legit weapons already in the game. The TWS does push the envelope but is hardly a 'disruptive exploit' anymore than the DMR with NVGs is.

As for petitioning Rocket to pay for the servers, it's the same old argument that is getting tired. If you host a server you agreed to the terms of use.

I want the hackers and the hacked in gear gone as much as anyone but until Rocket decides to do something about it (rule change, database cleaning of hacked gear) just having a hacked in weapon is not a banning offense.

No actually it is Rockets rule. Opinion has nothing to do with it.

You can't get battleye banned. And you aren't. Your interpretation is the opinion.

Rocket's rule on this? A bit late the the party, but my "opinion" is that when someone new to the game, or who doesn't log into the forums every 5 minutes finds a gun like this, and blissfully uses it, he shouldn't be penalized. Even if he is using it to farm pvp. The truth about it is that spawned in guns aren't going to be common. At all. Hackers spawn them in. Ok, fine. I'm sure we can all agree that the hackers are the problem. If someone pulls an unbalanced gun off of someone, then good for them. The rarity of ever aquriring something like this well balances the fact that the gun is unbalanced, and should not warrent a ban. Nobody should ever be banned for playing a game normally.
