Are you The Cheater's Bitch?

Recommended Posts

Having been playing on our own server for a while, I went back to playing on the Public Domain. My character there has everything (Coyote pack, gps, nvg's, range finder, L85 thermal, M24 and M14, Ghillie, etc). Now that I have this gear I don't want to lose it. I've had a lot of gear before and it never bothered me. It's not easy to come by but at the same time it's fun looking for it again.

So anyway I'm playing a lot more carefully now but I've grown a paranoia. This is mostly due to the cheats that exist out there. I'm constantly thinking someone's going to kill me by cheating and as a result it makes my game style different too. I'm stopping every few minutes to scan using the thermal scope. Maybe this is how I would play if this were RL - who knows but it is not wholly enjoyable. When the game has been infested with cheaters, it takes away the point of playing. Dying fair and square is fine. Dying by cheating isn't.

As a comparison, when I log into our server and start playing, I have none of these issues and it is a lot more fun because what is the point in playing on a server that supports cheating and where practically nothing is being done about it and players who don't cheat have their hard work taken away from them by someone breaking the rules?

My advice to all those players- dump the Public Hives and go private. I can't guarantee you won't find some dick server out there but if everyone leaves the public servers, you'll just leave all those people to play amongst themselves and see how much fun they find the game when everyone has god-mode on.

"You fucking cheater die!"

"No you DIE you Fucking Cheater!!"

"Mom!!!!"

By staying on the public servers, you're fueling the problem by your honest approach to the game. You are the ones feeding the cheaters. They can't die, you can so why do you bother giving them what they need? Leave them to it and find a decent Private Server - unless you like being the cheater's bitch lol ;-p

Has there ever been a scripter-on-scripter battle before? I can only imagine the chaos.

Do any private server owners pass any data over to Rockets team?

If not, seems the ALPHA has kinda failed.

Rocket only just stated a few days ago that he now supports Private Hive servers. I think what we're waiting for now is some dedicated support from the DAyz team - the people who write the private hive code need this to make the game run smoother (I'm not up on how it al lworks but something along these lines). I'm sure we'd all love to send data to Rocket for him to view if it was coded into the mod.

Just seems with good communication private hives will be a great way to actually Alpha and beta test things. The public 'test' as been a joke. But with the private hives and responsible owners/admins the two collectives can get a lot done. for example the community tent fixes etc, also if there is ever another major patch it at least some private hives do a total reset we may actually get some interesting and useful feedback instead of idiots raging about gear as if this mod is a game or something.

Taking a break. SEeing what standalone has to offer.

I hate the fact the game prides itself of time it takes to acquire things only to b e ruined in a split second. Your paranoia is justified and it is why I am taking the break till standalone.

Seems like a total waste of time to play Dayz at the moment. Id rather work on my digital pinball machine.

Yes the thought of a hacker v hacker battle seems retarded but that is what would remain if it was just them and then guess what? They would leave because it would become so boring there would be no point to it. By remaining the the public servers, you're actually adding to the problem but in a non-conforming way. I guess you could think of yourselves as the antelope...mmm yummy hacker food!

I do not believe that the private servers share info with the main hive. Unless the companies that we rent the servers from are passing along the info to Rocket and his team.

Also. Saying the Alpha has failed is false. Most would say that the alpha was successful. How you ask? In roughly 2-3 months we will be starting a new Alpha with the release of the standalone.

if this current alpha was such a failure I highly doubt we would be approaching the release of the standalone's alpha.

As I understand it, every patch so far requires a reset of the databases meaning we all have to start over. This is one of the things the Private Hive coders want addressed. One example I can give you of it differing from the public, in 1.7.2.5 ur ammo dwindled away - even after you relogged (as it should be) and of course tents and vehicles saved.

Yeah I tried a scripter on scripter battle after I got killed by one. I got globally banned 5 minutes later.

P.S I wasn't using scripts before I got killed several times by other scripters, I got some after raging from them, I learned my from my mistake.

They don't but that has to do with the code, not the companies hosting the servers (we actually own our own server, there is no company though this isn't the norm but it does mean that we have control over our entire server). If Rocket develioped the code for private hives to send back statistics I'm pretty sure he'd have no complaints.

Its effectively been a proof-of-concept. The amount of useful testing has been minimal.

A huge factor is standalone getting a greenlight is the proposed 'Minecraft' model of distributing and developing future builds.

See, we could have been testing futures such as construction, lighting systems and generators, dogs, etc etc etc but instead we were all to busy protecting our camps and resisting changes/resets, and thats before it turned into a hackers wetdream.

But as it is, we still have a very basic and flawed loot spawn system, broken zed pathing, flawed zed spawns, broken tents, clothes that send you into the sea, etc etc.

So instead of a well tested alpha we have a flawed mod, that hopefully will followed by a very simple standalone that hopefully has fixed hacker issues but has a lot of content still to be coded, placed and tested.

Rockets potentially going to have a lot of the simpletons raging that standalone V.1 doesn't have a lot of the content they think he 'promised' them.

There's your first mistake. Rule #1: Don't get attached to your gear. You WILL lose it.

I thought I made that point clear - did you read the rest of what I posted or stop there?

I know full well I will lose it, that doesn't mean you don't get attached to it because the more time u spent collecting gives it more value. However, wasn't really the point of my post which I think you gravely missed. Like I said,...actually fucking read it u lazy git.
