Hey,

Since I didn't found a similiar topic here in the forum I want to ask this myself:

So, are you satisfied with the difficulty of DayZ as it is?

Plain and simple. I mean every aspect of the game (getting geared up, banditry, the zeds, quantity and availability of loot and so on).

This question bugs me because I have a very clear opinion in that matter and I'm curious if that opinion differs from the one of other players. But I don't want to influence you opinions so I will stay silent.

So, are you pleased? Are you not? What bugs you? Tell me about it! =)

id say slightly too hard because the penalty for death is way too high. what i mean is that some spawn locations are way too far from any major city and you have to run about 20 minutes. for example: when you spawn on the far west side of the map and you gotta run 15 minutes to reach balota airfield and another 5-10 to reach cherno.

I think over time DayZ will progressively get harder with new things added to make it more difficult to survive.. At least I hope so. If not, it still is an intense PvP game.

Too easy! Once you get geared up, the only thing you have to worry about is getting sniped.

Edit: and getting hacked :P

This anti-game is way too easy. I haven't cried since the first time I played.

I want this game to have me balled up in a corner, rocking back and forth, and crying for my mother with a snot bubble in my nose.

Hackers not withstanding.

It's going to be changed in Standalone. Zombies will be harder, the environment will be harder.

The first day or two seems hard because everything's new. Once you realize the zeds are pretty easy to fool it becomes much easier. Just need to avoid the random hacker and piece of cake.

i think it's for some parts way too easy, others are just right:

Zombies: WAY too easy, you can get into a pine tree when having 100+ zeds on you and they simply cant hit you, during nighttime they dont sense you even if you are standing right next to them, their health and damage is okay, but there seriously need to be more of them and they need to have a better pathing and the ability to hit you while running

PvP: ATM, too hard, the long range endgame rifles(naming the AS50 and M107) are way overpowered, one shot kill no matter where you hit is ridiculous, its all against the "skill to get a kill" approach all other weapons have, hit the foot and he's dead, really cheap

sadly, removing them or nerfing them would require all weapons to get a nerf, why use a AS50 which kills in two shots if a MK48 mod0 can do the same? and why on gods earth should it take 6 bullets to the chest from an AK-74 to kill? what the f*ck? weapons need to be re-balanced completely

most people dont even recognize what huge advantage range gives you in dayZ if playing right, i saw someone taking an AK-47 over a CZ550 just because it looks military-ish...

Fun fact: anti materiel rifles don't do especially good damage against humans, their bullet passes right through without greater damage to the interiors, a rifle with a smaller caliber can do way more to a human than an anti materiel round, however, since they are made for it, anti materiel rifles can tear a motorblock into shreds with one bullet, but they dont rip off arms or legs or let people explode...

i tink its perfect..

its hard as hell befoer you know/learn everything, but after you get urself sorted you can limit the difficulty by knowing what to do in a given situation.

dont think the game needs to add more mechanics for upping the difficulty.

In my opinion, the game is - compared to other games - on a normal difficulty.

Zeds are easy: I don't know any game where they are a real threat (except maybe The Walking Dead but that's an adventure game).

Weapons tend to be unrealisic: again, I don't know any game where weapons are THAT realisic. DayZ and therefore Arma comes pretty close but it's still a game.

PvP is like in any other game: there are good players. there are bad players. you may be lucky and the bandit trying killing you is a bad shot, but you can be also unlucky and your enemy can really handle his ingame weapons well.

But, as I see it, DayZ should be way harder. Rocket said, he wanted to create an anti game, but the current DayZ is a joke in that perspective.

To explain my point:

We spawn some time AFTER the big zombie outbreak. The MILITARY is gone, the humanity is gone, everything is gone.

So, now we spawn. We are obviously fishers or something (because we spawn at the beach), for a period of time offfshore and therefore uninfected.

We head into the nearest open building and BAM: there lies any weapon on the ground. 3 unused mags by its side. Man, we are lucky: whoever lived here was a total weapons guy but was so surprised by the apocalypse that he forgot to fire his weapon even once. In some cases this could be true but in every third house we find a weapon...

Anyway, we start going on, find a supermarket and BAM again: we have everything we need to survive the apocalypse. A backpack. Matches. A Knife. Water/soda cans. Tons of food. We are lucky again, because in the days of the apocalypse, everyone who wasn't infected forgot to go to the obvious place to get himself equipped: the supermarket.

So, now we have a weapon with ammunition, we have a backpack full of goods, we can wander off in the forest and survive that apocalypse with ease. The only thing we have to worry about are bandits but that's ok. We become a bandit ourself because survival is boring when it's that easy and shooting other survivors is the only diversion you have. Maybe that's the whole "anti" in this game: survival is boring because it's easy. let's shoot other people. Now I see the dystopia in DayZ. ;)

But when it's that easy and we become a one man army ourself in less than an hour: why is everyone dead? Why are there only Zeds alive and some other people? Why is the military gone, with all its highly equipped and trained soldiers? And we, on our own, survive at ease.

I can see that there is a realisic point again: in the days of the apocalypse, too many people wanna survive and you have it really hard to struggle with all these other people. When its over and there are only a handfull of people left, it's getting less crowded and therefore easier to survive for the ones who remained.

But what is left when the apocalypse is over? tons of guns? tons of food?

I want to see DayZ more about survival. It should be REALLY hard for everybody (noobs and progamers as well: when you have nothing at the beginning and therefore you have nothing to play with the only thing that matters is your survival skill/will). Weapons: findig them is hard, findig good ones even more. Ammunition: findig a single bullet(!) is hard. Food and water and so on: supermarkets are raided, farm animals are rotting on the fields, you must scrape together the remains of society. Zeds: everywhere.

Getting really good equipped will take your ingame character maybe a week or something. PvP will explode because why bother when you see a well equipped survivor crouching through the bushes? But that's ok: it highers the thrill for everyone.

You can still horde and that's only natural: you scrape together everything you get. And why should you not?

I hope you got my agenda. =)

I don't say that this would be more fun. But it would be more thrilling and more of a zombie SURVIVAL game than anyone I know off.

And who played Amnesia for the fun of it?

Kinda useless poll now when the mod is dead already isnt it

Nah, I want to know how players think off the games difficulty. With DayZ standalone in development it's good to know if many players think it's too easy or too hard. That early in development there is a good chance to influence the final game in any direction the majority of players wants it to be.

Well, I'm pretty sure we all figured that out already.

I'm confused. I know why though. I don't know whether this game should be a survival simulator or a game. I think Rocket really wants a legit survival simulator. Truth is a large portion of the community don't have the patience for this. I think he is try to cater for both in the end. I think he just needs to go one way with it. Either its a survival simulator and really hard or its a game for the masses.
