    DayZ 1.7.7.1 .Dev Bug List

I was killed by a tree today. I was on the run chased by zombies, got kind of stuck under one of these orange, kind of mid hight leaf trees (I was running uphill so maybe that's also important) and I think I tried to stand up, got zero blood and passed out. The pursuing zombies did the rest. So that bug is still alive. I think trees are my nemesis, they kill me most of the times.

The real psychology of DayZ PVP

I agree with both OPs in some points. I think that feeling superior is a huge motivation for some to play KOS/bandit and I think that the "I lose all my stuff when I die" is a huge motivation to survive. But where I don't agree: you don't lose all your stuff in DayZ when you get shot. Most of the times you can return to your body and get some of your gear back (freshspawn/not that long alive). And when you get shot after spending hours of looting and gearing up you should have a tent somewhere were you keep at least one full set of gear. So the loss isn't really that big in both scenarios. What I believe to be the bigger "bugger" is that you feel insufficient when you were shot. You wasn't able to survive, you were shot and couldn't defend yourself, stuff like that. That's most of the times the feeling I have after I died. I think the player base is somehow divided into players, that play for the immersion, the surviving aspect, who care for their gear and are afraid to lose it/die/feel insufficient, while there are other players, who play for other emotional aspects, the kick of killing a better equipped person or an unwary sniper, for the thrill of gunfights, to feel kind of satisfied/superior when they succeed. I think those players don't care about their gear much because going into gunfights is a huge risk imo that a really "don't lose gear" oriented player wouldn't take so easily. That said, I think that's a point where there could be changes in the SA, because both player bases kind of collide (and there may be a third player base that is only playing DayZ to troll others, to feel happy by making others feel bad). Gear oriented players aren't really into PVP while superiority oriented players are really into PVP. So, when a gear oriented players faces a PVP oriented player, one would like to survive, the other one would like to kill (and survive). Both players are kind of denying the other one what they really want: survival or PVP action. That's not at all a bad thing because it keeps the game thrilling, but in a way - based on my DayZ experiences - it turned the survival aspect into paranoia (don't talk to strangers, ...) and into a lot of frustration ("I don't want to play this game anymore because KOS") and the PVP aspect into a blood bath where really thrilling/satisfying gunfights are kind of rare. But that's only my opinion.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

I think you will be able to take your own blood for times where you need it. Means: Freshspawn with full blood. Finding stuff for blood transfusion (empty blood bag, syringe (or what it's called)) You transfuse some of your blood in the bag. You place the bloodbag in a cooled storage (or it will get bad/infectious/whatever). You eat food to regenerate the blood you lost. ..... Now later, you get shot/hit by a zed and lose a lot of blood. You transfuse some stored blood back to yourself. No need to look for blood bags by type at all.

    DayZ Mod Update

I think an update should be around the corner when it's already sent for review. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/141571-rolling-changelog/#entry1399646 And imo the mod will get some love even after the SA alpha is released. The community devs seem to plan a lot of new additions/changes and they seem dedicated and busy. :beans:
  6. PDW: y? because it can shoot MP5SD and M9SD rounds which don't aggro any zombie (at least some versions ago, can't tell for the current build). so even with terrible sights, you have time to aim and shoot properly. When I can't find a PDW, "I keep the Glock by the penis".

DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !

blowtorch + wrecked car = improvised car door shield These shields used by the military/police should be kind of hard to get in Chernarus.

I need help I'm in a sticky situation.

You can also climb onto the hospital because medical supplies spawn there too. It's safer because you don't make noises but don't climb the ladders when you have zombies aggroed on you. I would also check out that school/office kind of building in the middle of elektro, because it has many loot spawns and spawns bandages often. And it has 3 entrances so it's very easy to avoid zombies.
  9. play it for 30 seconds, than rant about something in the forums. something is always not right. no, I will try to survive, like any life in DayZ
  10. I agree on slow zombies, but slowing players down? I really hate every game I play where the walking speed feels just painfully slow. The worst is getting overencumbered in Skyrim and moving around like a snail (although it makes sense, also in DayZ SA). What I would love in the SA: slow zombies, that are super responsive to (loud) noises, although really dumb (bump into a wall and don't know what to do, lose LOS and wander on only for 5 seconds, go in a straight line after the player), but huge in numbers (at least 1000 per server, better around 10000 or what ever number feels "real"), really hard to kill (only headshots), and with a high chance of giving infection (while being melee weaklings). I think this was suggested many times but still, I like my zombies that way. Play Project Zomboid if you want to experience such enemies - the zombies are great in that game and just like I want/described them.

New player just can't get into this game...

With the new build, I think it makes sense to check out EVERY house which spawns loot. In my past 5 games I've always found everything needed to survive (a good (military grade) gun is not on that list) just because I didn't go where everybody goes (supermarket, bar, ...), but every small house which has loot. Finding items/food/medical supplies is much harder now, I agree. But that doesn't imply that it was better before they changed the loot tables. It just says that it was easier before to get your stuff. Some like it harder (me included), some like it not. But, it's still possible to find stuff.

Dayz mod was great game, now is not

Yeah, seems annoying but also kind of awesome. Imagine, when you finally find what you are needing the most (I had this some games before when I was infected, was near death (0 blood, all blurry and b&w, going unconcious all 3 minutes) and found some antibiotics on the roof of a hospital)... a moment of pure joy. Or get creative: I noticed that the oil cans near that hospital in cherno were on fire, so I boiled my water there. And for my hatchet problem, I just took some firewood with me that I found in a village.

    Pimp my Bandit

Late game, I'm always aiming for a LMG. Mk 48 Mod would be the first choice (red dot sight, huge dmg output) or any other LMG. I think LMGs are great for everything except stealth. =) Second weapon would be a DMR only because you can use it with NVG and it's kind of useful sometimes to have a sniper rifle (counter sniping, defending a friend while he is looting a town). Sidearm: PDW! It's just the best sidearm imo because you can load it up with MP5SD mags and pop 30 zombie heads without aggroing any of them. The rest is just "what I can get", morphine, blood bag, food, water bottles... and maybe 1 grenade - not that I would throw it ever without reason (getting robbed or something like that). And I'm no bandit if that's interesting somebody.

I like the direction the mod is heading: loot is more scarce, zombies are actually a threat and not mere annoyance. About the loot: I can say first hand (I played it) that although it's harder to get what you are looking for it's still very easy considering the fact that it's a late zombie apocalypse and towns should be pretty looted/raided/empty by that time. Just don't run only to the usual spots ("looky here, a supermarket with 5 backpacks, 30 cans of food, 2 siderarms, 1 rifle, ....") but check out all the houses which spawn loot... 30 mins and you should have a basic equiptment (happened to me in cherno and elektro). What I personally couldn't find yet is a hatchet and that's really the only thing.

I hope this week is within the time frame Rocket mentioned at E3 ("not next week, but anytime before August" (don't remember the exact quote))
