Five Things I love about Day Z and Five Things I Do Not

Recommended Posts

Day Z is one of the coolest mods I have played! I absolutely enjoy this game! We all know Day Z has its ups and downs, but in the end, I love it! Now I have countless reasons why I love Day Z, but I also have many problems with the game I do not like.

Things I love!

1.The size of the map. This map is by far the biggest I have seen in a video game! You can be on a 50 player server and STILL you will not find players everywhere like most games.

2.The people you will meet. Either by encountering each other, or meeting someones end of the barrel. The controversial part is the best! Some shoot on sight, some try not to kill. Some bandits have an honor system, do not kill the unarmed, and some don't give two shits whether it is someones five year old little sister playing this game for the first time.

3. The guns. The way they look, the bullet drop, the sounds of it, I feel like a bad ass whenever I gun down someone with M4A1 CCO.

4. The zombies of course! You see a can of beans and you are just dying to taste those delicious beans, you move forward to get them and BAM! A Zombie see's you and you have to run, next thing you know the whole horde is after you! The zombies obviously are the biggest part of the game

5. Last but not least, night time. Probably the coolest time to play Day Z. This gives the game the sense of fear that Day Z should always have. Running through the forest at night, hoping not to cross with another player or zombie!

Things I do not like

1. HACKERS!!! I can not tell you how many hours I have put into a life and then randomly spawn in the middle of the ocean falling to my death, losing hours and hours of game play. Hackers are everywhere and seem to get by no problem.

2. The zombie animations. You finally break the zombies line of sight and you managed to run into a little house, next thing you know zombie just phases through the wall with their awesome powers.

3. The backpack (sometimes). You find an awesome gun but you just can't pick it up because you don't want to leave your weapon that is in your hands. Well okay, lets put it in my backpack, you do and sometimes, its not there! How much of a pain is that!

4. Tents, you'll stash all your rare and important gear in this tent, you come back and you managed to get all your gear out and what the fuck, you can't pick up your tent sometimes.

5. The servers, I love this game, but atleast 50% of the time I spend at least fifteen to twenty minutes searching for a decent server.

Like:

The intensity of respawning with nothing

Huge environment

The paranoia of being sniped at any moment

Spotting and executing a bandit atop a building

More maps coming out

Dislike:

Too many high end weapons

Not enough variety of buildings

Zombies slow down indoors

Can be boring once you are geared up

Zombies only spawn when players nearby

you could add addictive to both lists

lack of sleep? :)

despite all the bad things, like artifacts, poor inventory system, breaking my legs on an outhouse door, a rock causing me to go unconscious and die, DayZ is definitely one of, if not the best game i've ever played.

Lack of endgame content [and when I mean endgame, I mean total endgame. You have in your possession at least one of every weapon, all high-value items, a helicopter and some of the better vehicles.

That would be quite fun...but the hackers will ruin it all.....

What do you mean? I was justifying what exactly end-game is at the moment, as I am/have currently experiencing it.

-_- There aren't hackers in this game lol. They're scripters.. but you do have some good reasons about each. Especially the backpack deal, it irritates me the most out of anything.

You cant expect a "sandbox" game like this to have incredible amounts of endgame.

Take minecraft for example, its exactly the same "idea" behind the two games. Install, and go create your own game.

I will agree we need more features, to allow us to truely create our own game, but you cant expect a sandbox game to have alot of endgame content mate :) it has never been like that and will never be in this genre hehe.

However, it would be great to have stuff like:

- Creating different kind of buildings and underground complexes

- More different vehicles, i mean where are the police cars, firetrucks and ambulances gone? medical chopper perhaps?

- Like 100 more building "types", with different looks and different loot.

- Rewamp the loot system and make EVERYTHING more rare.

- Crafting of some sort really

I feel like they should fix the humanity system. I find it aggrivating when I kill players and my humanity slowly rises up to 2500 hundred again. Let bandits be bandits.

I believe it was ment ot be like that, so a bandit has to work to stay a bandit. The resetting of humanity on loggin however, is something i really hate hehe.

Zombies only spawn when players nearby

this is a big one for me. i dont like the fact that i can know that someone is in the area, just cuz zombies were there before i got there.

i know the zombies spawn like this to keep the load on the server down, but id love it if they were always there, and could wander anywhere they liked... in forests, between cities, etc. walking into a hoard of zombies in the middle of the forest at night would scare the shit out of me.

It's definitely jacked up, especially with the Hero skin.

I like the idea of skins, but not the idea of humanity increasing over time. IMO, it should only increase/decrease due to your actions, and I think there should be higher/lower requirements for both Bandit and Hero skins.
