Zombie decomposition

Recommended Posts

I suggest that there be varying grades of degradation of zombies, based on how long they have been dead. This degradation would have several effects:

Decreasing movement speed as zombies decompose

Decreasing sensory awareness as eyes shrivel and cranial cavities dry out

Increasing hunger as time passes (hunting behavior)

Increasing pack behavior as zombie sensory awareness degrades (large packs amplify the overall ability to "see" around them)

Fresh infected would be very fast, very aggressive, very aware

Old infected would be very slow, less aware but very aggressive and travel more in large packs

Old infected would be very quiet, as their vocal chords degrade, making them less likely to be heard by survivors...

They are not actually "Zombies" They are infected, So they're technically not the dead reanimated so they'd still be living, It'd work if perhaps the infected died and then got back up as shamblers but so far we don't have anything like that.

So why dont they call the game Day-I instead? Z is for zombies? No?

Well rocket has never said what the Z stands for, and DayI doesn't have the same ring to it, makes it sound like some Apple rip off.

What stops them from drinking from water sources such as lakes? Just because you don't see infected do it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

There are two distinct "sub-species" of zombies.

Reanimated dead George Romaro zombies

And

Infected rabies 28 days, weeks, later zombies.

The zombies in DayZ are the second type.

So they're zombies, but just not the dead type.

So a zombie can drink from a lake but I'll die of thirst lying completely underwater in the same lake? Riiiight.
