Underground Base.

Recommended Posts

so were possibly getting underground bases's in the stand alone, something a player or clan can build up which solves the space issue above ground, and gives players the means to fill their base building needs.

My question is, if I build a personal base for myself, will others be able to come into it ?

From my small understanding of it I thought I remember Rocket mentioning this as a way real estate gets created and then fought over. If you build a base I would imagine other players will have the option to breach it, or attack its entrance thus gaining them entry. I would assume until told otherwise, even if you build a base, assume that your stuff is never safe

Yeh Rocket has talked about giving players the tools and letting them figure out a way to defend them, that being said we don't know what level of construction/base building will even be possible and even Rocket has said it's petty ambitious, sounds awesome though.

I read that they (BIS) have found how to create underground complexes but there was a problem with AI pathing.

Correct me if I'm incorrect.

Dungeons built by Players/Clans would be AWESOME.

I remember reading something about base building will be like in X-Com. But I may remember incorrectly...

Speculating is fun and I'm really curious how it will be like in the standalone :)

Problem is the underground stuff will be 'instanced', ie there'll be a loading screen to get into it.

speculation :)

speculation :)

Actually im sure Rocket said that, so although its not set in stone its not speculation, and will make a lot of sense to have it instanced, I am sure I read but please correct me that Rocket wants players characters to remain in game 24/7, preventing alt f4' cos your guy will just be standing still and the attacker will have an easy kill, as I understood it the base was a place a player would go to be safe and logout.

not sure if thats right or not tho I cant find the post I read it in.

it is speculation, given as all he has mentioned are ideas.

Land on an zombie-infested shore. Grab beans. Get a weapon. Build a fucking underground complex.

Sounds legit to me

I would prefer an option to add defenses to existing buildings. E.g. barricading windows, setting up a barb wire fence, build limited (!) walls, grow some wheat, etc.

Ok, but speculation by the lead developer carries more weight than our speculation. His vision for bases is underground instances that will not disturb what is happening above ground, so making it out to be some wild guess by players is false.
