DayZ players should have the courtesy to play Arma2 at least once or twice.

Recommended Posts

OP: people should play something they don't want to because I say so

Me: yeahno.

The elitist should be happy that the resurgence of a stale game that spurred a ton of new purchases puts money into Bohemia's pockets for future work.

I dont give two shits about ArmA II. BF3, while not nearly as realistic, is more fun.

I bought ArmA II for DayZ. Piss on your game, your opinion will not hold my flood of piss at bay.

BIS doesn't give a flying ATV about you, kid. They live from military contracts. Their games are just side effects from VBS. That "stale game" was going pretty good without you too. Actually, it's kids like you who infested every public server with their pitchy voice in chat and who spoils everybody else's fun.

I prefer DayZ more than Arma II. I just don't find Arma II enjoyable, and from what I heard. People online take the game seriously which I can understand. In the end, I did buy Arma II just for DayZ. DayZ gives me the fun I wanted and the money well spent.

Yo shut up!

We agreed to keep quiet about our little secret, remember?

When people are playing DayZ, they are really playing ArmA.

Keep it on the low guys, you know: Hush hush...

Hos point is that arma 2 is actually a great game. I play multiplayer games like insurgency and warzone. They rock and are the best dayz pvp training available to mankind. Anyone saying arma 2 is shit or boring clearly hasn't given it the chance it deserves.

Played the first couple missions, rather like it but it is very clunky. Hate the voices, they drive me mad.

The main reason I haven't played more is that it would be so much better in Co op, like Dragon Rising was on the 360. However I haven't found anyone who wants to play it yet.

Brilliant :D

More like a diseased cough full of problems...while the idea of DayZ is new and genius, people ruined it.

The idea for sure and without arma as a base Dayz would not have been the resounding success it has been. Glitches and bugs included.

Funny coz it's true.

Why why is BoB living in your cupboard? something your not telling!!

Long story, much alcohol, long nights, bleeding eyes. Tried it several times, even the wov version, it just does not like me :)

ArmA is a great game, people dont even consider that DayZ had such a outstading success because of ArmA gameplay mechanics, namely PVP.

My opinion is that people are brainwashed by titles such as CS, BF, CoD, MoH etc. They simply assume that ArmA is another mindless spray n' pray FPS with no quality.

I Think the problem is that they think Arma 2 is too complex because of games like that. Insurgency mode in arma 2 is actually not any less 'instant' action the bf3. The talk about arma 2 being a 'dad' game is rediculous and insulting to the arma community.

Or that yes! Some people may find ArmA to complicated and give up without experiencing the game.

Players are "dumbed down" by overly polished games, influenced by the marketing hype and price tags.

Some recent releases easily stand out as examples: D3, GW2, BF3, etc.

It's fairly simple to sell a game nowadays, copy someone elses idea, make a eye-catching web page, a free 2 play system and any mediocre dev. team can shit out a "game" (warz).

So yeah, it's likely that alot of gamers find ArmA excessive because it's to "complex".

People don't need to feel inclined to play anything :L if someone has bought ArmA for the sole purpose of playing Day Z then they can feel free to put 1 million hours into the mod and 0 into the actual game. People have the right to play what they want, this shouldn't be such a hard thing to understand. I personally had an interest in ArmA before Day Z, I had played operation flashpoint and thoroughly enjoyed it. However it wasn't until I heard about Day Z that I decided to buy ArmA X as Day Z appeared to be the game of my dreams.

All communities are infested with ignorance of some sort but arrogance is no better and it is arrogant to believe that people must play and appreciate Arma simply 'because'. To get aggravated over a game/mod/community is just stupid.

I am not part of the Arma 2 community because I play Day Z.

People who play Arma 2 are part of the Day Z community:

Sorry folks, someone took this dry-ass game and did something fun with it. Cope.

ArmA is a very mature game, considered a "dad's" game because of its intricate gameplay.

Most ArmA clans are extremely rigorous, detailed and tactical to a point where the typical ArmA player is ex-military or a retired police officer.

Overall its a game with more structure then the average FPS simply because it originates from real battlefield simulators developed by Bohemian Interactive (VB2).

ArmA was never meant to be a popular game to begin with, it was aimed at a specific consumer. Nevertheless it has a loyal community going to 6 years now.

DayZ is 5 months old and already suffered a significant decrease in population server-wide; its infested with hackers that seriously break the game and under age kids that run in Elektro playing TDM as if in CoD. DayZ barely took off and its already shaken, if its not released soon it may never stand-out as a game.

I enjoy and follow DayZ, but as of late i've been playing ArmA.

I think players should at least take the time to go through the first boot camp mission. it would help with the perceived 'learning curve'

also there's a lot of things you can do with the editor, that people are constantly claiming they "need" SP DayZ for

I've been playing the Red Harvest campaign. it's pretty cool, until you get to the later 'high command' missions. I just prefer controlling my little 4 man squad, and not all that other stuff. the missions can get bugged, but that's kinda to be expected in any 'sandbox' game. I particularly like playing the 'Manhattan" mission. and like I said, the editor is real cool and fun

I tried MP Arma 2 once, and honestly it was intimidating. everyone was talking like "echo zero one niner, over?" and I didn't know what was going on. maybe I'll give it another go some day...

You need to go to Options, Audio and mute RADIO.

It can be annoying.

I bet the ArmA guys are like "OH GOD NO. Please don't bring your griefer problem over here!"

Thats exactly what happened when Bohemia released "Arma 2 Free"..... it brought a flood of griefers and TK'ers.

The majority of the Free players were decent but all it takes is 1 or 2 morons to completly destroy a round in Arma 2.

The hacking and griefing in DayZ is completly out of control, so any fear of that polluting Arma 2 is valid.

There's more hacking and griefing going on in DayZ then the entire Battlefield series combined.

Then you and he have something in common.

I bought something called Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead because it was requirement to get to DayZ, which had been recommended to me. I did fire up the regular Arma 2 a few times, both in single and multiplayer, and it didn't take too long to confirm that the game is garbage without the DayZ mod. I am not part of the Arma 2 community, despite what your ignorant OP claims, and I doubt I ever will be so long as that community is represented by elitist jackasses.

lol...you prove yourself ignorant with your post and then call someone else ignorant in that very same post. Amazing...

I play ArmA 2 as much as DayZ just to make a difference from time to time. And I found it pretty fun.

People are not douche bags, except for the few dayz noobs trolling around the base. Pilots wait until all the seats are taken in the chopper to fly to the AO. Coordinated attacks and call for extraction or support followed by real friendly response and moving on to the next objective.

If you find a server with around 20 ppl on it, chances are that at least 10 of them know how to play and play in a group and if you stick around with them, then you can fun.

As I love the sniper role I take the AS50 and destroy waves of enemies on my own from 1000-1500m distance. It also helps for being a good shot in DayZ,

I also love to play Takistan Life mod, you can choose to be a civilian or the police. As a civilian you can buy driving and weapon licenses, go mining to sell the stuff to get money or get involved in drug deals. You can do whatever you want. And as the police you try to serve the law, you have the right to frisk someone. To arrest people and put them in jail etc. Its really fun.

Once again, the game got great opportunities for mods and fun stuff, its just up to you.
