Exenima 45 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) I wouldn't mind seeing a PTRS-41 in the game haha, It would shred the shit out any vehicle. And i also wouldn't mind seeing an AK-12, seeming as there are military bases and this is their latest assault rifle they've released. MLI 6 Posted September 11, 2012 if heavy weapons are being considered then atleast one TOW or MANPAD could also be available (possibly the rarest item in the game).

amishterminator 9 Posted September 12, 2012 I would like to see more civilian style weapons and more weapons that just make sense. Two weapons that come in mind as need to be in the game are the mosin nagant and sks. I bet those 2 guns are in most russian houses, considering how many were made. For civilian style weapons it would be pump shotguns, bolt action rifles, small handguns, etc.
m.w. vindicator 880 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) RPG to take down a helicopter? Maybe if it was landed and not moving, otherwise, you've been watching too many movies and playing too many games. :PThe American's had a presence, so I don't see why their weapons shouldn't. I'd rather the RPG be added in addition to the m134, then they could each have unique characteristics/attributes. (RPG is reloadable, m134 is disposable, etc)You sir have never tried I bet. I have shot down a Helicopter in ArmA 2 with an RPG. With knowledge of the trajectory it is quite possible to hit a low flying helicopter at about 100m-400m. Unlike CoD the RPG in Arma 2 is very fast and has reliable accuracy. Now obviously it is easier to hit a chopper flying parallel to you in a straight line than one flying perpendicular. Also on the topic of the Strela. The strela is a very capable anti helicopter weapon. Today I was using it against Helicopter's in Arma. It is easy to lock onto a helicopter within 100m-1000m and fire a rocket at it. There is a high probability for a hit unless countermeasures are used. The rocket normally disables the chopper but doesn't destroy it outright. A skilled pilot could theoretically crash land the chopper safely. While playing Arma the pilot can save the chopper about 50% of the time. The other 50% the helicopter crashes catastrophically. hatfieldcw 184 Posted September 12, 2012 Catastrophically, or magnificently? Either way, using advanced anti-aircraft missiles seems a little out of place in DayZ. It's already a little weird that everyone who washes up is a capable helicopter pilot, and knows their way around a sniper rifle, but I'm guessing the Strela requires a huge amount of training to use. Maybe not. I'd prefer to get away from the universal soldier situation we have currently, not deeper into it.

I'm sure most soldiers will tell you it's just like a gun, easy to learn difficult to master.I agree on the less is more strategy, While having a Holo M203 M4A1 makes me feel pretty awesome, it's very hard to beat that initial part of the game where your struggling to survive. hatfieldcw 184 Posted September 13, 2012 VSS Vintorez is a weapon built by assholes, for assholes, and when you equip it you actually sprout additional assholes, because you are an asshole. No way is that okay in DayZ. Asshole.
amaROenuZ 144 Posted September 13, 2012 I gotta point this out, 'cause it'll drive me crazy otherwise. The cz 58 and Skorp aren't russian. They're Czech. They feel more eastern european than M4s for sure, but they are -not- russo-hardware. >>

Now, it's not to say it would be a good addition.Give it a sorta big rested spread and a crap-low damage somewhere in line with the MP5 and you get a great semi-long range Zed killing machine but a crappy player-killer. Kerwyn 77 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) I would love to see more geographically appropriate weapons in the game, right now I rock an AKM because, say what you will, that is a sexy gun, and what's the point of surviving the apocalypse if you can't do it in style?Actually I use it because it's got comparable damage to the Enfield, has full retard mode for when I invariably screw something up, has zeroing, though I never use it, intuitive, unobtrusive iron sights, and its ammo, while unique, is plentiful.if I could put a supressor and and ACOG sight on it, I would never need another weapon in my life. But more to the point, model swapping the enfield for the Mosin Nagent would be a good move, you can keep some of the M4/M16's, but literally every one of those has an AK equivalent that does exist. And that Vintorez, make it like the MP5A5 or the Bizon PP-19 SD, good size magazine, silent as hell, but rare ammo and weak as crap. it would become a perfect PvE marksman rifle, we don't have a scoped rifle ideal for clearing zeds right now, and that would be a great addition.
