After two months, I quit because of hackers

The hackers have ruined it for me, and for my friends. Every bit of loot and every vehicle we earn, I find myself saying to them "A hacker will probably just steal it tomorrow" . Often enough, that's what happens.

No disrespect or discouragement to the developers. I'll be waiting for news that the hacker problem has been handled, but right now no challenge in Chernarus is worth the fear that it might be lost to a cheater.

Usually, I'd reply something like ''QQ some more'' or something along those lines, but your not entirely false. Hackers are a real issue in the game, but be informed that the stand-alone game should be out by the end of the year, which will incorporate a new engine and thus, a more secure game. hackers can outsmart patches but hardware is out of their control.

I haven't recently had any issues with hacker, maybe I'm just lucky but we'll have to wait and see for the standalone game, which explains Rocket's lack of updates in a while.

From my point of view i think easily 60% of the player data base use hacks in one way or another (Map hack, spawning, kill scripts, teleportation, transformation and the list goes on about how many hackers there are....)

This does sound an awful lot like QQing, but I want to be as frank as I can in reinforcing the fact that hacking is the most important problem with DayZ right now.

It's not just annoying, it's ruining the experience for too many. If it goes on too long, it will be forever a point of mistrust for everyone that plays. Look at what happened to Counter-Strike; it's taken an entire generation of gamers to stop everyone being afraid that others were hacking.

I won't make up numbers, but I will challenge any of you to say that you've never been hacked. All that matters is, once it happens the trust is gone. It's happening to everybody, and the trust is gone.

@Hydra, I tried not giving a shit. For two months. I tried not getting attached to any weps or vehicles, but then what can you even do in this game besides PvP over and over? I can play Counter-Strike if that's what I want.

It's not just annoying, it's ruining the experience for too many. If it goes on too long, it will be forever a point of mistrust for everyone that plays. Look at what happened to Counter-Strike; it's taken an entire generation of gamers to stop everyone being afraid that others were hacking.

cs is entirely different. in that it is best played as a 5v5 competitive game, and in that context it is unbelievably easy to tell when someone is or isn't cheating. a lot of the time without even needing to watch their pov.

Just got killed by a hacker. It sucks and it's demoralizing but until the standalone is here I'm not going to bother gearing up completely and then lose it all to some punk kid. Live fast and hard; end game loot is just a practice of hoarding stuff out of paranoia now. Might as well live while you can and don't have much to lose.

Me and my friends just spent 3 hours moving to a new less populated server gearing up. We all finally get decent gear and this guy drives into the airfeild stops, gets out and runs to one side of the airfield kills my friend while all three of us shooting at him.

He then get's back in the vehicle and drives across to me walks right up to me under fire and shoots me in the face, laughing over comms. He sounds literally like he is about 12, laughing manically.

Get's back in the vehicle and go's to the north end and kills the last of my friends while still being shot at.

Cool game, but not playable with the script users having free reign to do as they please.

I do not believe for a second the "stand alone" is going to magically fix this problem.

Frankly, we didn't care. We left the previous server to find a lesser populated server for this reason. The decision to start looking for another game was made as soon as he got out of the vehicle and tanked roughly 50 shots.

I'm with you here. I was playing on a 1.7.2.6 server just freshly made, we had 48/50 people online.

Hacker jumps on, dumps the entire server. Everyone dead. What's the point? I'm tired of collecting gear and having it taken away illegitimately. I have no problem dying to players or zeds, but I've just about had it dying to some idiot running a script.

I was just suggesting you change servers, but I've come to realize something, once you have what you want, what's there to do? Hunt other players? Take a loud gun into town with lots of ammo and mow zombies down for an hour? Losing your gear gives you something to do, there's nothing like the feeling of finding a gun or piece of equipment you want and having it fresh in your posession to show off to your pals.

I'm glad to be hearing alot of similar stories. Hackers nabbing my vehicle is the biggest thing--I never get to know whether it was me doing a bad job protecting it, or not.

I reiterate, this is the most important problem happening in DayZ right now. All of the glitches--including atrifacts--are completely incidental because the game is in development. The hackers don't just piss off a few (or dozens) of people at a time, they will stain the reputation of the game forever.

I want all gamers in the future to feel encouraged that they can come to DayZ and meet with all of its unique and wonderful challenges, and earn due rewards for it. Hackers have the power to stop that, and BattleEye does not have the power to stop them.

I might even say that if I were running things, I'd shut down DayZ until it could be made more secure. That would do three things:

1. Stop the game from gaining a bad reputation

2. Show the hackers that they can't ruin it for everybody without ruining it for themselves

3. Show the community how serious the developers are about dealing with cheaters
