Will rocket ever stop getting his wig plucked in interviews?

Recommended Posts

I'm starting to wonder if Rocket is the lead dev for DayZ or BI's chosen public relations representative to every gaming convention on earth.

It seems to me that all he does is fly all around the globe, repeating himself in interviews (to be fair, it's more their fault than his for their crappy questions) or talking to no-name youtube 'celebrities', who're equally bad at interviewing him.

Every time there's an update on what he's doing he's flying here, there or everywhere to stand in a booth and yatter to bloggers.

Meanwhile DayZ suffers from crippling bugs and hacking problems while the population falls day by day.

About a 50% drop off in the last week or so?

I know the rocket fan crowd will jump down my throat here, but this has reached the point of absurdity.

Now, I don't expect the patches to be released like clockwork, I just expect lead developers on games (or mods, lets not get semantic here) with 1.2 million players to prioritise their time a little better.

The 50% drop could be attributed to the start of American public schools, at least partially.

Even when it's maintained during the weekends?

It's that time of the year for all game devs actually. I'm guessing you've read his post explaining why he decided to go to the conferences?

Homework and socializing and whatnot.

Population on the mod really doesn't many anything anymore, with the standalone on the horizon. Even if he patched a couple things, there are still tons of other stuff that aren't going to be fixed cause of it's mod status. Lots of people are just waiting for the standalone right now. I'm still playing, but I don't do alot anymore other than hopefully get in alittle action or meet up with someone in game that won't just shoot me lol

Where'd you find the statistics report for a 50% drop? I wanna see that.

About a week ago it was over 200k players per day (around 220k IIRC?), now it's around 100-130k.

I don't understand why you'd even try to insinuate that isn't true, anyone who's ever bothered to look at the front page has noticed.

Homework and socializing and whatnot.

Yeah, 'homework', really?

And I guess no one bothered socialising during the holidays then?

Rocket can't miss something as important as PAX if he's serious about going standalone.

Also there's a decent chance 1.7.3 is released this week. With new patches there's a risk of getting new bugs/exploits, but that's alpha for you. Yo.

From his reply to a post I made the other day, it sounds like he might finally be stepping off the bandwagon for a bit. It's not a lot to go on, but encouraging all the same...

To be honest, I've gotten to the point that I'm much more interested in seeing what Rocket DOES, than hearing what rocket SAYS...

Agreed. It's really tiring too. I think we will do a media blackout shortly, I will even not use my phone and not check email. Just focus. Groundwork is done. No distractions!

Part of making the game is selling it and getting the name out there. Also, there's this wonderful thing called the internet that allows you to work away from your home or office. It's awesome. Maybe you heard of it?

Since I have memorized all the interview q&a by now I could probably fake NZ accent and work as Rocket's body double freeing him up for more valuable endeavors.

the game is sold already. the name has been out there. also the great thing about the internet is that you can do an interview, even with video from your home or office, with someone who's far away.

We don't even know shit about the standalone. We don't even know if it will use the ArmA 3 engine or something else. We don't even know what the world will be like, what is new in it, and anything else. No one really says a thing about the standalone. Only thing we ever heard about it, is that it might be out before Christmas. Now excuse me but for a game that should be released in less then 4 months, I believe some more information to the fans would be much expected and appreciated.

So people please don't, just don't always reply with a fucking sentence like : "Oh they don't reply on this forum anymore and/nor fix any bugs because they are focused on the standalone."

This all is fucking ridiculous to me at the moment. No one gives out info on the standalone, no one gives out any patch notes for the next patch that should fix at least 50% of the things in this game for us to enjoy it with pleasure. Nor does anyone answer questions about bugs anymore.

And don't come again with useless talk like "Don't expect updates to roll out on a hourly basis" , because MOST of ALL THE bugs in this game are consistent since the start, which is MONTHS AGO and I don't see a legit reason for them not having them fixed by now.

Long story short, after the last patch everything just seems to stand still, no info about DayZ as it is now, no info on the standalone. Nothing.

Dafuq is happening?

Haters, flame away.

That isn't how he has been doing interviews though. He has been there with the people on camera...

Anyways....You are wrong. A week ago the game was not at over 200k. It has been at this number for a few weeks now. It was down to about 105k, then went back to 118k over the weekend and now back down to 110k. Either way, the only thing I agree with you on is that the interviewers SUCK. They ask him the same dumb questions that have been answered on this form or reedit. They don't ask the questions that the community actually wants to hear. I have yet to see any details on the new melee system that he has mentioned. It's always the same questions nobody cares about anymore. It's not his fault in the slightest, except that he needs to do a 100%, fan based question interview.

Erm, actually he has already said it will use the Arma2 engine. They have given us quite a bit of information, but at the same time not a lot. I'd give it maybe a 3 out of a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest of how much we really know about the game, but it's 100% been stated its using arma 2...at least for now.

Go read Rocket's Reddit interview .... a lot of your questions have been answered already.

Standalone will be running on the Arma 2 engine with elements of Arma 3 .... (VRS 2.5 if you like).

It will be using Chernarus Plus (new areas and more enterable buildings).
