Opinions on releasing DayZ on console?

Recommended Posts

Honestly I don't want Dayz to come out for console. It was made with arma 2 for pc, and now the standalone is being made for PC. I feel like Dayz, and Arma 2 belong to PC and the PC community. Thats the platform it was made for. And really. A good majority of console players are young 12 year old kids. Dayz and Arma don't belong to them... It belongs to the mature people who truly appreciate arma and dayz and have stuck with it from the beginning. And really. Dayz is a game of patience... It's slow paced. Console games are fast paced shoot on sight games. And I don't want a bunch of little high voiced 10 year olds playing dayz. No one wants that. If it was released to consoles it would become a deathmatch with a few zombies. Because little kids dont like games where you have to be patient. For console gamers its shoot everyone you see. I'm not trying to say all console gamers are like that. But a majority of them are. Dayz and arma 2 also arent the most popular games in the world. They are honestly pretty low key compared to other games. I dont know about you guys. But I kind of like it that way. If they were released for consoles EVERYONE would know about it. Sorry for my rant. I just wanted to state my opinion about it. :)

So I recently heard that if DayZ Standalone does well enough on PC it could possibly be released to console. What is everyone's opinion on this? If feel that DayZ on console would not work out AT ALL. Console is made up of fast paced first person shooters, I feel like DayZ would not thrive on console like it does on PC. I think that it would be almost like Minecraft on Xbox; when it came out, there was a hype, but not very many people recorded it, and the one on top was still the PC version. What is everyone's opinion on this? And if DayZ Standalone were to be released on console, would you buy it?

its this kind of comedy that keeps me glued to the internets !

check the gui the way dayz is going it will end up focused on console and be massive. saying it wont work on console im sat here just shaking my head. everything is being simplified why do you think that is?

CONSOLES MOTHA ****** :P .

once its out on pc it shouldnt take more than month or two to port over to consoles. the new consoles are mid range gaming pcs under neath anyway only difference is the control method and with how the gui inventory and that is being set up should be very very console friendly. when it launches on console come back here and give me some beans ;)

I can't wait for the console version supporters to start crying when the PC version of the game is left for ages in a buggy mess and promised additions never appear because the DayZ development team is too busy trying to shoe horn DayZ onto ancient console hardware [And yes, the next versions will still be ancient by PC standards] and kissing MS and Sony's butt and jumping through their hoops to get approved.

Then theres the inevitable flood of consoltards coming to the forums crying.... Waaaaaaaa it's too hard..... why do i have to walk so far? , why are there no jetpacks........???? ... waaaaaaaa a sniper killed me... remove prone......we need killcams!!!!!!......... waaaaaaaa the bullets kill you to easy....... we need to be bullet sponges....... Waaaaaaaaaaa, which button do I a push to "WIN",.......waaaaaaa......waaaaaaaaa.....etc...e

If any of you remember the Battlefield forums when Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 was being developed and in Beta you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Not all Xbox players are like that you know many of have been waiting for a game like this to be released for a long time. And any way why do you care is they come to the forums just ignor them simple. You are bitching about nothing

Those who are not like that rapidly quit the consoles platform and traspas to pc as soon as they acknowledge is faaar better than his shitty big sized paperweight. Who the hell with a minimum of sense would play on a console? the economic excuse is no longer applicable since way long ago. And the PC has always beaten consoles on everything else...

I have 2 friends that used to play on xbox 360, CoD players actually, and they tried the computer for the first time to play Day Z, as it seemed really interesting for them and couldn't found anything similar for the xbox (as you stated, many xbox players want something like Day Z). Well, one thing lead to another, they also tried BF3 on computer to play with me (no way im playing on a console) and you know what? after buying it and paying full price for it on his xbox, they purchased it again for pc as, using they're own words "it's another game, really. Has nothing to do with the console version!". That was a few months ago, now, they both play ONLY on pc, and have stated that in no case they're going to buy the new generation consoles.

That's what happens to the console gamers that are real gamers and just went mislead to the console platforms. The rest, those who will stick on a console even after trying the unquestionable superiority of the computer, are exactly as stated in the post you're quoting.

From an economic standpoint releasing it for console after the PC version is completed is a no-brainer.

As far as the gameplay itself, I don't think it will translate over to console as well as it does for PC, even the new consoles will struggle with the size of DayZ as well as the amount of computation for everything, even games like BF3 were scaled down for consoles a lot.

My viewpoint is that a very large number of console players just want to be able to pick up the controller for some quick action then be able to drop again as quickly, that's why short games like BF3, CoD and Halo are so popular - quick violence, instant gratification for doing the simplest thing and done - I don't feel that DayZ would translate very well over to that space.

I hope it never goes to Xbox one or Ps4 they can say all day and night that they will keep the pc version up to date but im sure in the end the pc version will be left on the shelf while they spend all there time working on the console versions (Money Money Money takes over) I've seen a lot of games be done that away.

Madden and Nba are 2 games that were and are both better on PC yet they don't get half the love the console version get if it wasn't for the great mods out there they'd be outdated....And Madden left the PC world all together awhille back because theres not as much money in the pc gaming world but if only people knew what a nice up to date computer can look and play like.

Hey if it generates more sales great - NOT at the expense of the PC version though.
