tjG3ftw436 17 Posted September 1, 2012 I believe I might have found a solution to the tents not saving problem. I have been testing out a number of things with tents trying to get them to save correctly and hold their contents through server restarts. Out of the five or so methods I've tested one seems to work well.1.Set-up tent2.Put the gear you want into the tent.3.Wait 2-5 minutes(I prefer to wait 3-5 just to be safe).4.Save the tent ONCE.I have tested this method three or four times and it has worked three times. I don't know for sure if I did this the fourth time as I forgot to update my notes on a few tents about the methods I used when saving them  so for now I'm calling it a 75% success rate. I am still waiting on one of my usual servers to restart as it contains another couple of tents that I have used this method on.DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP, just because this has worked so far for me doesn't mean it will work for everyone. If any others could try this and report back with their results that would be great.
adamtheheretic 106 Posted September 1, 2012 Will test this when I update... Hope it works. What about vehicles?
amaROenuZ 144 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Yes, this works for tents. It's how I store my tent cities. As a note, tents will sometimes disappear from the whole server when the sever restarts. Don't panic. They'll come back on the next restart,EDIT, for those who are wondering, I have a tent city I set up entirely post 7.5. I have six tents that all save properly through restart Edited September 1, 2012 by amaROenuZ

s4pphire 45 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) I'll save you the trouble; when a tent is placed on uneven ground or colliding with objects, such as trees, then the next server restart will trigger the tent to reposition to 'match' the terrain, this causes the storage to be completely reset. This tent is now dead, because only the first save works, yet it will forever remind you that it is there, because no matter how often you pack that tent, no matter how much you abuse it, it will be back.So what I am trying to say is, place the tent on flat ground, away from trees and other shit, fill it up and save it, it will work.As for vehicles, no matter how often you save them they will either revert to the original spawn location or their last location on 1.7.2.4. Saving them will sometimes cause them to reappear on the next restart as a different vehicle in the saved location; how a bicycle can morph into a bus I do not know, but why not. The restart after that will then cause them to despawn. Edited September 1, 2012 by s4pphire

grylsyjaeger 171 Posted September 1, 2012 I find fresh tents with only ONE save work too.But our vehicles stay where we leave them. Only our helicopter keeps reverting back to Skalisty. So I set up tents last night with the parts to get it going now EACH TIME I WANT TO USE IT. Lordy lordy. sostronk 334 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Ive been in the habit of saving twice. Last night there was a reset. I come back on this morning and my one full tent had become two tents with nothing in them. I think saving twice is causing problems. Could be wrong tho. I don't recall the exact bug but it was something along the lines of all servers with an ID above 8000 being affected, if I remember correctly. Don't quote me on that, though. machiavelli 38 Posted September 1, 2012 So I can only save a tent once. What about after a server restart? Is it one save inbetween server restarts? It's basically then, put all your stuff in and don't use it again.

Zeppa 562 Posted September 1, 2012 My tents are working "fine", setup mostly "in" trees or between two etc... stuff in and save, doesnt matter how many times you do it. It will be ok.. removing/adding stuff and save few times and its all ok. Only thing is that if you setup tent, pack it and it sometimes reappear at restart, so its unintentionally duped. Now and then vehicles and tents doesnt apper when server retarts, maybe back on the next restart or one after..server I play on is 1.7.2.4.ps. Vehicle locations saves ok, but not the gear. And also if you pack a tent which is "in" the tree you cant pick it up cuz its blocked by the tree branches somehow. tjG3ftw436 17 Posted September 3, 2012 Will test this when I update... Hope it works. What about vehicles?Have no idea what will make vehicles work. As I haven't found any(I play on a clan server big surprise), although I have seen a post on another sites bug listing for DayZ. In that post there were admins talking about a server side code that could potentially save vehicle's locations and inventories properly. Upon testing this code it half worked. The Ural they used stayed at its spot but lost its gear. Next restart the Ural was in its saved spot but a bus had spawned on top if it with the original inventory of the Ural. I think we're going to have to wait till rocket gets these things working.
tjG3ftw436 17 Posted September 3, 2012 So I can only save a tent once. What about after a server restart? Is it one save inbetween server restarts? It's basically then, put all your stuff in and don't use it again. When you first place a tent you get ONE save state period. The only way to get another chance is to pack up the original tent then reset it up the way described and then put the new items in it that you have acquired or of course you can get another tent to put more items in.
