Why I Have an Extreme Case of Paranoia

I'd like to admit to the group, I have extreme DayZ Paranoia. This creates many problems for me, especially in any type of encounter situation with another player. I'm extremely shy..Or should I say "scared" of anyone that I see. I've come to expect EVERYONE to stab (or axe me) in the back of the head. I've even come to expect it of the soul-sucking goats that are prowling around the area.

Back on subject: I trust no one that I meet from a random occurrence in-game. A survivor with a hatchet? You had better believe he is about to eat a magazine of AK rounds if he doesn't respond fast enough. A bandit? I KOS them anyways. I know how easy it is to spawn in with a bandit skin, or even to get one unintentionally, but I like to play it safe. Someone in a ghillie suit? If I can kill you, which is *rarely* the case, you're dead. If not, I run. I don't try to find a safe place, but I RUN. I try to get to a whole different town. I try to get to a whole different area of the map. Ghillie suits signal extreme danger in 100% of cases for me, friendly or not. If I travel with you, you're a prime target. That situation is purely hypothetical though; I would never trust a random ghillie. Is that a survivor holding *nothing*, but out in the middle of nowhere, kilometers from the coast? Sorry, but I KOS you, too fishy of circumstances. Just the other day, I killed a "Survivor", holding nothing, no weapon, but just following me. Creeped me out enough to the point that I shot him. 2 clips with an AKM for him to die. His loot? 7 civilian clothings. One may say "Oh Grassman, you punk! He probably just found those!" Lies. Lies lies lies. Who has that, I ask? A hacker? NO. HE WAS A CANNIBAL. A SHAPESHIFTER. AN ALIEN.

Okay, I may have overreacted. I'm sorry, it's just my DayZ Paranoia kicking in. I take nothing at face value anymore. I'm sorry in advance if my left mouse button is a tad bit oversensitive and I shoot you on sight. I'm not a bandit. I'm not a survivor. I'm a narcissist. I care about my own health, with little regards to others. That's not to say that I will kill people to advance my own goals. No, it only means that I don't take chances.

Damn, guy with a flashlight running towards me...No communication. As I watch him, I see it: HE IS SHAPESHIFTING. Oh, maybe not, he's just crouching down, and changing direction. I'll let him live for now, but if he comes back near me, I have to watch our for myself, which is always the story of my DayZ life.

Good read, yeah loads of drama in the game, but that is what i love about this game!

Don't know if you were kidding when you said hacker over civilia clothing, but you get it when you wear another clothing.

It seems to be what happens the longer you play the game, you begin to get overly attached to the life of your character and start to become a recluse who's only human interaction ends with said human having significantly less life than when you two met. It's sad but a fairly good cure for it is build a small camp somewhere with some decent gear and go have fun with players, with the knowledge that you will have an easier time gathering supplies the next time around it will be easier to trust others or deal with death. :) Just remember death is the inevitable "end game" for every survivor.

Don't know if you were kidding when you said hacker over civilia clothing, but you get it when you wear another clothing.

But he had *7* of them. Why would he have that many?

I still shun you the fact you killed a guy with nothing, come on.

Well, you sure are paranoid :D

But I don't blame you, I myself am very cautious with other players aswell.

One day I was sitting in the cherno firestation when suddenly I heard and saw gunshots barely missing me. I looked around and almost immediately found the shooter, sitting a level on top of me. I took no chance and emptied my M16 mag in him. Looking afterwards, I doubted why I shot him...He missed all his shots (he had a Winchester 1866) and had pretty much nothing else on him. What if he was trying to draw my attention in a very, very wrong way? By thinking about this I thought I was kinda paranoid aswell :D

Then, when I made my way down the firestation I noticed a green chemlight running towards me, hunted by about a million zeds. When he was inside I KOS him without hesitation. Poor fella was probably looking for shelter. He did have a nice gun (L85 :P) but without any ammo. Again, he probably wasn't going to shoot me and again, I was convinced of my own paranoia once again.

But, a couple of days ago, I was looting a camp when 2 guys showed up about 100m away from it (they didn't know there was a camp). I was alone, so shooting them was probably the worst thing to do as they already noticed me. They came to me but didn't say anything (my pulse was about 200 bpm :P) and just looked around a bit in my backpack and they left. Since then, my paranoia faded away, though I'm still very cautious with other survivors.

There still are some non-violent souls out there, you just gotta find them! :D

If you kill someone with a ghillie suit, you can't loot it off of them. Or are you saying that the ghillies kept their civilian clothing in their inventory?

Either way, I know, I shouldn't have killed the guy, but he was just following me, a tiny bit west of Olsha. He had no food or water, just civillian clothings. Looking back on the situation, I don't regret killing him, He just reeked of the stench of strange. ;P

My basic rules are 1) If you are not in my group, chances are I'll kill ya. 2) If you do not some how show me that you are friendly (pointing rifle at the ground or using that nice little invention called a microphone to communicate with me...) I shoot without even giving a warning shot = ). 3) Do not play with people who will get you killed. 4) It's a game, have fun!

In the form of 2 shots whizzing past me as I rode away from Stary on my motorcycle.

I'm staying hidden until this whole apocalypse thing settles in a little more.

Current character going on 2 weeks.

Edit: to say, I would like to see a Mountain Man skin. No other player contact within 40m, and you look like ted kaczynski.

If you hadn't had contact with another player for over 6 days, you turn into this guy. Then you go camp out at Green Mountain and scare the shit out of people.
