TheMachine 803 Posted August 30, 2012 Even the most ardent deniers of the severity of the hacking problem now need to admit, the game is literally unplayable at this point. If you play for more than an hour without dying to a hacker nuking the entire server, you're incredibly lucky.Private hives are an option, but still in no way immune, there's just too many hackers to ban them all. This is fine though, the devs can focus on the standalone release and hopefully get it out before xmas time.I just really wish people would stop bitching about updates, "give us updates!!!!!!!!!!!!11", who cares?Does it REALLY MATTER at this point if the graphical artefacts aren't fixed?Does it really matter that people can combat log?Does it really matter that tents don't save or vehicles don't stay where you put them?Does it matter that the bandit system is just as broken as ever? No, it doesn't matter one little bit.In my opinion, the devs shouldn't even waste time trying to patch up the mod, it's like rearranging deck chairs on the titanic at this point.
Nyz 42 Posted August 30, 2012 Bring on the stand alone. And oh yeah , minecraft sales me pre allpha alpha !!!
AllMightyKnox 218 Posted August 30, 2012 The game is currently on alpha and to be honest i been playing the past few days and have not yet seen hackers or anything related to them.
gywidion@msn.com 80 Posted August 30, 2012 I would prefer they drop the mod and hand it over to the community. They only waste time working on both. Plus the community can help by starting to work on features that might be ported to the Standalone. It is a win win for both projects.

☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted August 30, 2012 I died to a hacker once personally. My play style and server choices help me to avoid them.I play for 2+ hours at a time without a scripter or even seeing another player.I feel for all of you dying this way all the time, I'm sure it's awful. But maybe if the skiddies scatter, the CoD kids will stop KoS, and DayZ may revert to a state of co-op and more dynamic play once again. And then when stand alone goes live, the douch baggery will resume again. bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted August 30, 2012 I guess I'm incredibly lucky, I only play on servers with 30+ people and I haven't been killed by a hacker in a couple days. And even when I am, the game is incredibly easy, I can be "geared up" again in 20 minutes. Not saying I enjoy the hackers, but they're going to have to do much worse before I throw in the towel and wait for standalone. If there's fun to be had in this mod, I'll find it.
Digital (DayZ) 2 Posted August 30, 2012 Just a quick question.. How do you know if you were killed by a hacker or not? Ever been in the middle of nowhere and suddenly shot and killed? Ever ran through a town or area and got shot and killed? Ever been shot and killed period? Not all hackers thunderdome, Plenty ESP or teleport and kill from a distance. Not all have godmode on and some are garbage to the point of losing fights they see coming.Don't just assume because you weren't dropped from the sky that the last time you died from a player it wasn't a hacker. (Not saying it was, but the ignorance is abundant.)

RaysGoodLiquor 93 Posted August 30, 2012 I've been keeping my eye on the forums of two extremely popular sites that provide public ***s. Every time I see that a new undetected BattleEye bypasser (usually a new one every week), I just avoid the game until I start seeing the "how do I unban myself" threads from people with 1-2 posts and no avatar. I honestly think the big influx of scripters is coming from Rocket's inability to effectively address the issue. If anything, find a nice private hive clan server and never play another public game until standalone. If I was Rocket, I would have shut the alpha down months ago. Battlefield 3's horribly broken beta really damaged game sales, because the game was insanely broken, but DICE refused to take the game down. Everyone jumped in for free to see how much they would like the game, and canceled their pre-orders after playing for 20 minutes.
Inception. 9443 Posted August 30, 2012 As long as two people are still playing, the mod isn't dead.I'll be one of them.
likertj 2 Posted August 30, 2012 You realize that the standalone is going to be months away, right?Hackers are still going ballistic. I had to ban 3 teleporters today. And don't talk about the squads of guys showing up over Elektro with their AS50 TWS weapons.
gywidion@msn.com 80 Posted August 30, 2012 I would assume Battle-Eye would watch those site as well, it would make sense. But I dunno if they do.
jthewonder 28 Posted August 30, 2012 I play with 5 friends and we've been playing dayz for about 6 hours allmost every day for the last 2 months, and so far we've only encountered 1 hacker, that we're not even 100% sure WAS hacking.Play on low-medium populated servers (we usually pick servers with 10-30 peeps) and stay the fuck away from cherno and it's possible to avoid them.

sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted August 30, 2012 It's not unplayable. It's just not worth trying to play it in any way other than straight up pvp. Even that is a waste half the time.Maybe it's time the game really goes the way of Minecraft and servers start to get whitelisted and some way to roll back hacker shit should be added. Obviously private hives. No sense in playing the game the way it is right now, not that it's impossible.

RaysGoodLiquor 93 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) I get hacked in empty servers almost as much as I do high pop ones. The difference is, when a scripter goes to a server with 4 people on it, he doesn't go to spawn himself in gear and play, he does it to be a dick to people that are trying to avoid other players. I run into more scripting problems in high pop servers, but I run into a lot more malicious assholes in low pop games.Edit: About the "Oh, this thread again" comments. I wish general discussion was so spammed with complaints of hackers that the developers will be forced to come up with a creative means to deal with it, or shut down the hives to avoid bad publicity for the standalone. Simply because this is the most hacked game I've ever played (MW2 on PC a distant second), I cannot blindly buy the standalone. I'll fight the temptation, wait a few weeks, and compare the feedback from this forum to those of the public h*cking sites. If in game content continues to out prioritize game breaking bugs and exploits, I'll shed a tear for this game's potential, and move on to the next flavor of the month. sostronk 334 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Avoiding high pop servers helped avoid thunderdome/server nuking for a while.Playing in low pop servers made you a target for teleporting godmode hackers who would instantly teleport to you and kill you after you unloaded 2 clips into them at point blank range. kr0g3rnazy1 8 Posted August 30, 2012 ive been killed by hackers a couple times and it sucked falling from the sky to my death or being teleported off the map and shot by a mini gun from a heliu but it was just a couple times and i like to do badit raids in cherno and bolota and i dont have hacker problems really and just because you have a hacked weapon in your inventory doesnt mean your a hacker when i first started playing i killed a guy and looted an as50 tws from him it doesnt make me a hacker though
wutitdo 19 Posted August 30, 2012 You seen the population on the servers recently? They seem all but dead with the exception for about 5 or 6 servers with max out people. Yes hackers love huge population servers it where they can do the most damage. You are naive though if you think Battleye is even making a dent. Especially if you read up on Battleye supposedly the new thing is hackers stealing thousands of used keys and reselling them, Yes in the THOUSANDS, So if you're CD key is in use it's most likely because you tried downloading one of those fake Youtube ***s and got keylogged. I've seen Rocket talking about yes they could stop the cheating if they focused on it and not "content update". LOL content update is a joke anyway they never fix the things that NEED to be fixed. Rocket: DONT WORRY MAN BEAR TRAPS BRO, BEAR TRAPS. FIX THE HACKING lol nevermind they already made enough money to fund a stand alone. I can hear the excuses already..... ITS IN ALPHA! So what? It's always gonna be in Alpha until the stand alone comes. GOOD LUCK. Yes, they dont care about Dayz they got the message out already they are focusing on the Stand Alone which is good I dont mind right but dont lie to our faces like you're fixing anything. You are not. You are putting a band aid on a broken arm and you know it.
