Clan matches/wars

Recommended Posts

I may be out of the loop a bit, but I'm surprised I haven't heard about clans scheduling matches. ie: meeting up in a pre-determined server, setting location parameters and going at it. With a lack of a coherent endgame, this seems to me to be a pretty good one. Bragging rights on the forums, top top top end gear for the victors... Just seems logical.

I also understand the issues (hackers, alt F4ers etc...) but if you know who your opponent is, these issues would be diminished somewhat.

Is this happening and I just don't know about it, or are people still too scared to lose their gear to have some fun?

I think it's not worth it to make a thread about clan wars on the official forums. (Due to hackers, like you guessed.)

Sure, some might use PMs to spread the word or other forums. But not here.

I don't see how this could happen since we don't have permission to lock down our servers. Once the mod opens up as the standalone draws closer, this may be a possibility once they grant us permission to lock things up. Granted I would love to partake in some serious squad vs squad fights on a custom chernarus map/mission, sort of like what the Hunger GameZ are doing with their custom map, which is basically Berezino and the surrounding forest(for sniping, etc.).

Without the ability to lock the servers, I think it's obvious that there's just no chance of being able to pull it off successfully without outside interference ruining every single attempt at it.

I hear ya. I suppose if I were setting something like that up, I wouldn't worry about outside interference so much. It's just another value to take into account. But if I'm a survivor who isn't in a large group and I hear multiple AS50s, L85s etc in a city... there is no damned chance I'm going to wander into it unless I get the drop on them from a distance. I just think it's something exciting to do with all the gear people hoard, as opposed to having it destroyed by hackers or an overzealous admin.

Wouldn't ArmA be better suited for this?
