Specialist (DayZ) 1 Posted August 24, 2012 I was wondering if it possible to play DayZ completely free? As I live in Canada and I've checked all the retailers within my area and none of them seem to have Arma 2: Combined Operations. If it is possible, can someone redirect me to a guide or something please? <3

Kyzahh 127 Posted August 24, 2012 Completely free.No.You can get ARMA 2 for free and then buy OA, but I don't recommend that.http://kodabar.blogspot.dk/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html
DazTroyer 227 Posted August 24, 2012 Buy Combined Ops direct of Bohemia as it's a about five pounds cheaper for me here in the uk, that's a 20% reduction and is the Steam dl copy anyway.
barrett_killz 229 Posted August 24, 2012 I've paid for it and I don't regret, try doing the same thing. But unless you want it for free, I don't know...
weltensegler 1 Posted August 28, 2012 Completely free.No.You can get ARMA 2 for free and then buy OA, but I don't recommend that.http://kodabar.blogs...rma-2-free.htmlI have all paid arma modules but just out of curiousity...why wouldn't you recommend combining OA with free arma2? Is it more buggy with DayZ than with the original? ...I mean EVEN more buggy? :)

Fucking magnets how do they work
void.false@gmail.com 300 Posted August 28, 2012 Why install crapware like steam on your PC? Buy a digital copy straight from arma2.com and be set.

hatfieldcw 184 Posted August 28, 2012 I got ArmA2 on Steam ages ago, wanted to fly that A-10. DayZ was free for me, and really, give ArmA2 a chance. Just fire up the armory and go bombing around in a helicopter, or play the EW mission, which is pretty sweet. The campaign's not very strong, I agree, but it's worth playing online or checking out the user-created content (including DayZ, of course). So to answer your question, buy it electronically. A friend of mine bought it straight from BI and had terrible trouble getting it installed. He wound up buying it again on Steam when the sale was on, and had no trouble then. Cronic (DayZ) 35 Posted August 29, 2012 Well I bought ARMA II..... Wait for it.....Yep, for ARMA II, because it's freakin awesome, the fact that DayZ popped up a while back was like an early Christmas present.Ask mummy & daddy for some extra pocket money :)
Mos1ey 6301 Posted August 29, 2012 Don't pirate it, mate. Support one of the only devs that still supports PC gaming...

Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 29, 2012 DayZ is free. Just insert your original Arma disk and your good to go. Don't have Arma? Go and get a job.
weltensegler 1 Posted August 29, 2012 Double clicking the .exe is so hard for todays generation? Your friend should be restricted from using PC.Brainless comments aside ...I bought it for almost 40 bucks and had trouble installing it too..which of course means installation errors etc and tons of crashes when it finally seemed to have worked.I ended up buying it again on steam and have no problems since.Another advantage I never have to think about being up to date with patches. hatfieldcw 184 Posted August 29, 2012 Today's generation? The guy's 47, and he's not a moron. Some kind of file corruption, installation wouldn't finish. Downloaded it a couple times, same result.

It even tells you what percentage of servers are running which patches.
Zeppa 562 Posted August 29, 2012 arma2free + OA from steam, 15€... then here are the directions to dayz installation and necessary updates (http://kodabar.blogspot.dk/2012/05/how-to-install-dayz-with-arma-2-free.html). Worth the money.Legitly cant get cheaper than that..
void.false@gmail.com 300 Posted August 29, 2012 Another advantage I never have to think about being up to date with patches.Actually, auto updates is the worst thing that can happen to you. So it's a great disadvantage and one of the main reasons why you should not install that crapware.
team_player 42 Posted August 29, 2012 Okay first of all for if you didn't know you have to buy it from steam now if your looking not to pay, I myself am a massive pirate but honestly STOP BEING A STING this is the most amazing game and nearly no ones heard of it, pay for it so they can afford to create the standalone. Yes I know ARMA II gets the money but DayZ got to have a percentage since that's the only reason people buy the game.
