I'm not bored, we already know more content is going to be put in the game with standalone anyway.

I don't think you can ever get bored. 1000 hours of BF3, 1,000 hours on CSS, 1,000 posts on the forums. Your like a cat man, you stay entertained regardless.

No, dogs are in the next update, there is a lot of new content going to be added in standalone, they have said this many times. Search.

Almost have all endgame gear, still not bored after 40 days of survival.

Got the hero skin then?

I'm still on 4722 humanity after initially hitting 4550 but that dropped after I shot at a non-bandit to 3500 or so. Not shooting at other players even when shot at myself takes a bit of restraint (and often means I lose all my gear and start on the beach again) but respawning and only hunting bandits is great fun (and killing a bandit doesn't reduce your humanity). Bandaged another player (who was very grateful) gave him blood, and have another player (who had nothing in the way of gear) a pistol and ammo. Still not got the hero skin yet but having a lot of fun working toward it. Skins should never have been removed as they make the game much more challenging. Oh and already got minus humanity? - it's going to take you quite some time to work your way up to hero.

So you get hero skin, then what?

It's stupid, people will still shoot you

Endgame content is changing your play style imo. Attempting to assist other survivors offers an interesting play if you still have faith in the population or don't care to lose your gear.

sigh, people who say this are often the same people who lack the understanding and creativity to truly appreciate a "sandbox" game.

Some will but some won't. Perhaps team up with other players with the hero skin that u meet. Chances are u can trust them. Continue to help other players. Some are noobs just trying to make their way through the game without being killed by a bandit. There's lots of different ways to play this game. Killing bandits without fear of penalty is great fun.

You also need to remember this game is still largely an alpha. Rocket is still experimenting with new ideas and content. As it stands there is no and game. If your really bored take a break but keep up to date with changes made to the game. You may hear of a change nade that will give you new ideas of ways to play the game.

sigh, people who say this are often the same people who lack the understanding and creativity to truly appreciate a "sandbox" game.

There are 2 types of sandbox. There is a sandbox where there is no goal and you have everything from the start and just mess with it.

Or the second type where you don't get everything from the start and you need to get things yourself. And the sandbox part is about players being the main part of the world and because there are no objectives doing what they want. And people will always do what benefits them the most. First it's gathering gear and then doing what they find fun and what gives them satisfaction. At the moment PvP is the only challenge this game has. Plus there are no downsides of killing people. You don't loose your gear because you can just alt+f4 and even if you die you have 50 tents all with high-end gear because duping is so easy that you can dupe things even on accident or even if you're not alt+f4ing, duping or anything, if you know what you're doing and with a bit of luck, you can be fully geared in under an hour. And don't tell me that firefights in this game aren't fun or satisfying. That's why people do it, just for the sake of it. If there were other things to do that would be equally fun and challenging then people would do it. But the best alternative is putting limitations on you and playing by made-up rules. Hell I can go "omg there is so little content that after getting high-end gear this game has nothing to offer and gets boring really fast and I have to make up things to do or I'll bore myself to death" and for instance start playing by a rule "never shoot first, always ask if friendly" or "look on the forums if someone needs healing and walk around the map healing people" or "never run, only crawl". You shouldn't put yourself at a disadvantage to make the game less boring. The game should have enough things to do to keep you entertained and they all should be equally valid. Look at EVE, it's a sandbox and there are many ways of playing it and they are all valid. You don't put yourself at a disadvantage by choosing this or that playstyle. In DayZ you have to do that. Everyone will be shooting at you on sight while you will not because you are "creative".

DayZ is a PvP game. And the mechanics support FFA DM at the moment. People follow the mechanics. You want to get angry about people PvPing? Blame the mechanics.

good post mate.

I agree with you on how the game is pretty much forcing you to PVP - murder count, better chance of getting gear, less chance of dying.

However, I think there are much better PVP games out there on the market - BF3 or CS:GO for example.

PVP on DayZ is clumsy and often comes down to who's holding the sniper rifle.

There NEEDS to be a reason for people to stop killing each other and explore/work on something together!

A bit bored. Never sniped either, never hunting people for that matter, just surviving. It's just me I'm like this with most of the games so I think I need something to change between and I get it on sat when Pree start on guild wars 2 is on. Still excited about the progress with DayZ though.
