Animal despawining

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

so, last night I was spawned at the beach AGAIN and as I was standing next to my tent when I logged out, I didn't have any food on me. Luckily I had a water bottle.

Point is:

I was nearly starving to death, because everytime I came close to about 50m to an animal, it just despawns. I've even tried killing it from the distance, but the dead bodies are also despawning on approaching.

Anyone noticing this? It's not happening on any server nor with any animal, but in th end I had to randomly shoot zombies in the hope they drop food so I won't starve.

I haven't had that problem but a friend on teamspeak had it happen to him three times in a row when he was starving

Yes it's happens to me 4 times now.

Near hunger find a cow, it despawns on approach.

Find another cow, shoot it and kill it. Falls over, then despawns on approach.

Find a sheep, shoot it, kill it, gut it, go in gear to sort some room, return to game to retrieve raw meat, gutted sheep has vanished at my feet!

Last one was another cow. Again, despawned just as I was about to send it to moo-moo heaven.

This has occured over the last 4 days. Come to think of it there could have been a boar in there somewhere too...

Sneaky bastards!

Good thing I'm not the only one having this problem.

Problem is, that I can't even think of a solution, as I had some food stuffed in my tent. Next challenge would be to fill a tent with meat, just to be sure, that I could have 50 meat at any time - even when I'm spawning 4253km away on the beach again.

I don't know what's going on. This does only seem to be a recent occurrence. I don't remember seeing any animals despawn on me before this last update. It's bad enough when you get constantly respawned on the coast every time you hit an infinite loading screen on a server.

And, of course, Sod's Law decree's this only happens when you need food desperately.

EDIT: I just found a sheep and I managed to kill it and gut it without incident. Saved my bacon...errr...mutton that did!

It could be the side-effect of the "fix", which is used on some private servers where the graphical-glitches were fixed by editing some files, so dead bodies disappear and don't create glitches. I just say, it could be~

No. That glitch comes from buildings and the permanent dead zombies

Question still is:

Why is it happening, and why is it happening on almost any server, but not with any animal? You just can't tell by approaching, whether you are lucky, or not.

Possibly a location problem/glitch/error? When I thought about some more two of those disappearing cows were on a ploughed field, the kind you can generate a lot of noise on by running over it. Also I remember the first cow that vanished on me, a zombie had just spawned in next to it before the cow itself despawned.

Since then I've killed a goat and another sheep without any disappearing tricks. Both on open grassland/fields.
