Im becoming a bandit, without wanting to become one...

Recommended Posts

Hello

Today, i was playing on a server with quite a few people. I was wondering around in Chernogorsk, looking for some amunition for my M4A1 CCO. After a while i saw another survivor, crouch walking trough the grass. I am not a bandit, so i dont shot other survivors, offcourse, unless they shot at me first, and that is exactly what happened. I was laying in the grass, sneaking around when he saw me. He then opened fire at me, and i did the same thing ( i mean, who wouldnt? I had very good stuff and didnt want to loose it all ). I won the firefight, and quickly got the hell out off the field. I then noticed that my humanity'ometer had dropped from 2800, to a lousy 400 something. I guess that when it is at 0 you become a bandit right? Anyways, do i really deserve to become a bandit? What did i do? i defended myself against someone who wanted to kill me, that is not the same thing as killing players just for fun, right? I think that this should be delt with. I dont know how, but maybe you guys should figure out something clever.

Thanks for your time.

You should have gave him all your loot and then killed yourself to no be perceived as a threat. Tisk tisk.

Don't bother worrying about humanity. Mine jump's all over the place every time i log in.

Kill a few zombies, it'll buff your humanity.

It doesn't need to be addressed, it's no big deal and will probably be quite different in the stand-alone.

Humanity regenerates untill it reaches 2500.

I you can avoid shooting other players for a couple of hours you'll be good again, if you keep shooting other players you might turn bandit for good. Then again, you might acidentally shoot a bandit in selfdefense and get positive humanity.

You're beeing punished for using an ugly font.

And humanity doesn't reset after your death, so you probably killed others before.

Offcourse i killed some others before, but most bandits, i have all in all 2 murders i think

It'll regenerate back up to 2500 if you can make it for a few hours without murdering anyone else.

And for gods sake, if you want M4 ammo, go to an airfield. Cherno is for industrial loot, clothes, tents, and griefing.

So, if you really worry about the humanity, don't shoot survivors. If you lost humanity, give other players bandages/blood bags/other medicins. Also, the humanity lvl slowly regenerates back up to 2500 after a few hours.

ps. this font rocks!

Killing zombies doesn't regenerate humanity.

Standing around doing nothing does...up until 2500 humanity.

So...stop kiling things.

Im really getting tired of these "QQ Im forced to become a bandit because I want to play alone and hang out in Cherno/Elektro and keep getting shot at" threads....

If i recall correctly...

Bandit Scarf is activated at -2500 humanity or below. When you kill a player, their humanity rating is is subtracted from your own. If you kill someone with a very high (+5000) humanity rating, you're very likely to be "awarded" the bandit scarf instantly - even if you have relatively high (+2500) humanity yourself - because it will put you below the bandit threshold in one strike. Killing a "hero" who has over 6000 humanity rating is a good way to get a winter scarf in a hurry ;)

There is a five-minute cooldown timer when attacked, during which you may retaliate with deadly force without your humanity being penalized at all. One slight problem - you must be hit by at least one bullet in order to activate the timer. A near-miss or simply entering a shock state is not enough.

If you don't want to wear the bandit scarf, you have to try real hard not to kill anybody unless you are certain they are already a bandit with negative humanity. The best course of action is almost always to avoid contact.

From your description, he had around 2500 humanity, which was subtracted from your 4800, and leaving you with 300-400. Over time this will regenerate up to 2500, and positive actions such as healing other players will increase it beyond that.
