Is server hopping a banable offence

Recommended Posts

Is server hopping to relocate to take out players a bannable offence?

This has just happened to 3 of us watching a vehicle and they logged out in a barn while we waited to see them again i hear footsteps behind me when they log back in and it turn's out the dude we watched go in the barn was behind me telling me to drop my weapon and then killed me!

Is this a ban able offence?

Im not fussed about my stuff its just a dick move, We watched them enter the barn relised they disconnected then once they reconnected we sat there watching the barn and it turns out they spawned in behind all 3 of us! Thing is we cant figure out how they saw all 3 of us as we were all hiding in tree's in 3 different locations,

We have the rpt logs to show them log out at point "x" and spawn in at point "y" then kill us all in a few seconds apart!

Unsure if the rpt files show up any type of wall hack or something similar! i doubt they used a hack i guess they got lucky!

Still i hope its a ban able offence just unsure as rocket hasnt specified exactly what you can and cant ban for!

Is there a way to contact DayZ support or something to find out to confirm this or not!

some server admins put such laws on their servers. yes. if you can prove it to the admin he can server ban them.

you can't server hop now. you just spawn on a beach. you have to wait like 4 mins before changing servers or you will be having a long walk so Im calling fishyness

Many admins will ban for it on their own servers, according to the "rules" they aren't supposed to unless they have logs of them doing it.

Well, you got ghosted.. Ghosting is lame and an exploit I would like to think.. I've had to switch servers 4-5 times back to back because of shitty fps, hackers etc.. I don't think that can get you banned.

not bannable but consider a douchebag move..

if your gunan PVP, at least have the nuts to fight.. "ghosting" in behind someone via another server is seriously LAME....

Who are you directing the question at? What a server admin considers bannable and what the DayZ team considers bannable are two different things.

Are you asking if it would be abusive to use administrative powers on a server to ban someone who did this?

Im asking it its allowed by DayZ team to ban them for this reason! The .rpt logs show them disconnect and reconnect ALOT in a short space of time i guess for duping, Also some show different locations to where they disconnected,

Idiot.

The primary cause for you spawning on the beach is that you tried to use Six Launcher to update DayZ, which for the current patch doesn't actually update you. Thus, you think you're running 2.5 but you're really running 2.4. Logging into any server that has a different version causes you to spawn on the shore 100% of the time.

Assuming you actually know what version you're running and you log into servers running the same version you will not spawn on the beach (except in rare cases that existed before this patch). Spawning on the beach is not some fix that rocket made up to reprimand ghosters.

It is legitimately an exploit and a bannable offense, but the dev team doesn't do bans. It's up to the server admins to police their own servers. Send proof to the admin and it will (should) be taken care of in a just (hopefully) manner.

Most server admins cheat just as badly, if not worse by hoarding vehicles and shit, so good luck.

I would find it hard to believe that it would be considered abuse on the part of the admin, provided you had sufficient evidence. I don't speak for the DayZ team though, this is just my assumption.

no need to call him an idiot black man

It's blatant misinformation being labelled as fact. Countless other idiots have been doing the same since the last patch because they're too stupid to check their DayZ version.

It's simply justice to call an idiot an idiot and nothing more. Don't try to defend stupid people, they don't deserve your love.

Thank you to both of you! you have all my beans

I don't think it should be a ban-able offense as admins could abuse it, but it definitely should be fixed so it doesn't happen by Rocket.

There needs to be a solution to this. Maybe not being able to re-join a server within 5 min of the last time joining that server?

I think this would work because at least you can switch servers (because half the servers don't work lol) but you cant ghost people as easily.

Idk, just a thought.

IDK if having delays and so on would work.

But they could tell you "PlayerX has logged out" , in the lower part of the screen where it says if somebody is kicked, killed etc.

If you're following somebody or something like that, you'd at least have a warning he D/Cd so you can prepare for a "ghost" appearance try.

This is a good idea. Any reason the game doesn't announce when people leave or join?

Only helpful if you're playing on a nameplates server or you just happen to know who the person is.

Most people who are familiar with this game avoid nameplates servers because nameplates allow you to easily see people through buildings and trees and are generally bullshit.

Depends on the Admin. On my server it is. Once I have collected enough evidence, the hammer drops.

Rocket has literally said it's an exploit. It doesn't depend on the admin; it is always a bannable offense. It just depends on whether the admins decide to do the right thing and ban them (given sufficient proof of course) or be shady dickholes like most of them are and just let it slide.

Enough admins run clans that facilitate duping and hoarding and even lock their servers on a vehicle wipe to recover every vehicle on the map that I would imagine most of them don't give two shits about ghosters. To those that actually police it and ban for it, bravo.

In other words, it depends on the admin.
