th3rdparty 16 Posted August 13, 2012 having the mod atm is very useful to rocket for he can now experiment with the game even more, this wil help in his development in the stand alone game, you shouldn't even ask this question imo common sense activate! SmashT 10907 Posted August 13, 2012 I'd rather they focus on just the standalone, I know everyone will whine that they paid for the dayz mod if it is no longer developed though.
Sol (DayZ) 132 Posted August 13, 2012 I said all this shit days ago, and all I got was FLAMED!Stop wasting time on the mod, fix it up enough so it "doesn't completely broken" (intentionally bad grammar) then move on to standalone where he can spend more time actually addressing problems instead of letting them get so far out of hand nothing can be done.~Sol
iashford 73 Posted August 13, 2012 Depends how well the content from the mod transfers over to the standalone. If it needs a lot of reworking, then I don't see the point in developing further for the mod and would prefer it just go all towards the standalone. I mean, it makes no sense to be putting double the amount of work into two things if it's just gonna be transferred to one anyway. However, I'd want a lot of the content from the standalone game be a surprise as well. Banicks 55 Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) WarZ retail coming Q3 I'm fairly certain that DayZ will lose players, not to mention Rocket and team are concentrating on retail. Of course new ideas and rough coding will still be put into the alpha to break and trial different things and see how the community reacts and plays around the changes. But inevitably the Arma 2 DayZ mod will eventually be abandoned once retail alpha/beta is available. In the meantime I expect less patches less frequently. If WarZ flops I have no doubt that they will return to the DayZ alpha. But from what I've tracked so far I don't think it will be too bad. pepe.lp 0 Posted August 13, 2012 I want rocket to test crazy shit using the mod(read: I want a legit G36)Ideally I'd like him to fix artifacting for good and leave the mod alone mostly.I just don't want anything to take away from the standalone, but no updates means losing interest and overall could lose players.here is a quote tht i can get behindGet rid of the Glitches and we can all live with the rest. we all realize that this is an alpha but its a playable alpha that we all love to play so please fix things like the Graphix glitch and then you can test to the hilt ... Come on who has not noticed the new animation for the Zombies ... there running is so Majestic it nearly got me killed so many times ... Thats the sort of thing i love to see but again Yes fix the Crippling things so we can continue to play and then even if it is abandoned it will still be a GREAT playable Alpha for years to come. "Im confused why people think the mod is required to test "crazy shit" the standalone can test what it wants in just the same way, but more effectively as they have control over the entire source.
