    DayZ app?

It would be even cooler if they just added that feature straight into the game. I'd love to know how many head shots I've gotten, how many times I've crashed the car and blown out the wheel, how many times I've been sniped by some camping loser, etc etc. ~Sol
  2. Suggestions DO need to be thought out, otherwise what's stopping me from suggesting they add pink and rainbow coloured magical flying donkeys that shoot cakes made of lasers out of their assholes? Nothing, that's what. *Off to the suggestions section* ~Sol
  3. No worse than the CoD kids already in the game KOS'ing everyone because they are "bored". ~Sol

    DayZ app?

No portable device will be able to do something like DayZ for a few more years to come... Within 10 years quite possibly, but not before then... not unless some fantastic new discovery is made, AND it's cheap enough to be used immediately at consumer level. The closest thing you might get would be a heavily instanced version of a "MUD" with some really terrible graphics and shallow game play. It's a nice thought, just not a very realistic one for today's technology. ~Sol
  5. This being completely true and all, but they will simply find some other way. No game is hacker proof, and even the best games on the market for stopping hackers, still have trouble keeping up... and they are wealthy game studios with money to burn. Hackers gonna hack, no matter the vessel. Will it be harder for them? Absolutely. Will the engine openly allow it as it does now? Of course not. Will it stop? Sadly, very unlikely. The only way to totally eliminate input abuse, is to remove all input. If you do this, you cannot possibly have a game any longer... a compromise is made, and so client data is accepted by the server in every single game you play online. Since server-side authenticity checks are too traffic heavy to have loads of people connected, the server-client relationship relies fairly heavily on data it receives from the client side. This data can easily be tampered with to achieve rule-defying results. The system is inherently flawed because network speeds are unable to cope with checking every tiny detail. A system that checks these tiny details in a more conservative way is required... but sadly this involves turning a partial blind eye to the problem, since the checks would be random and at a time where a player is not doing anything unusual. TL;DR - I guess what I'm trying to say is... don't get your hopes up that standalone will be some magical fix to all of the hacker problems. The only thing that will solve that, is for the real zombie apocalypse to come and these pussies get eaten because they can't aimbot in real life. ~Sol

    DayZ app?

The biggest problem with doing something like that, even with shitter graphics (even 2D style retro "pixel" graphics) is the technical limitation of a hand-held mobile device. Take even the XBOX360's inability to handle something like Minecraft... graphics aren't the issue... it's the rest of the game engine, and they processing power required for such things. Computers (PC) are the gaming platform of true gamers... the gaming master race, as it were. It's like that, for a reason. ~Sol
  7. Basic trig... I know that and I'm not really a coder either. The difference between, the distance between two points... with a comparative control value. I use this method for making a fluid camera follow a player character based on screen position :) I guess it's too advanced for Team Rocket :/ ~Sol

I play pretty much anything myself as well... though I do prefer something with a strategic element to it. "Normal" FPS style games are boring... anyone can shoot a moving target endlessly... when you have to think about a way to accomplish this (there are no respawns IRL) then the fun starts, for me anyway. I am also a big fan of the puzzle genre, and the bugling trend in sandbox style game play (Minecraft was a big one here, as well as SPORE), but I also like driving and action games. I grew up a mix of platform games, RPGs, Tetris, and D&D (the paper, dice and pencil kind). I also like board games from old-school to modern. I feel they are a forgotten genre of gaming, since digital gaming is far more accessible and cost effective... If you are in to board games yourself, I recommend the board game simply titled, "ZOMBIES!". That shit is fun. :) I have taken my love and passion for games and gaming in general to the design floor, and have been working on a project with a small independent team of fellow enthusiasts... hoping to bring our collective gaming experience to the table in an enjoyable multi-facet immersion. It is a sandbox world where everything matters... it's the "type of game" I guess I would play :) ~Sol

Oh that's awesome. I have MAME on my PC with a couple of limited edition Street Fighter 2 arcade sticks (proper arcade rated equipment). I really wanted to build a cabinet, but just never really had the means and/or money to make/buy one. I output video to an old CRT television set for video, and sit down with my arcade sticks :) I think ultimately, a laptop would be a nice MAME machine, for the portable nostalgia gaming experience. ~Sol

    WTF - No PVP Servers?

And if you want to endlessly PVP there are plenty of other games for THAT. What's your POINT? ~Sol

Hey, just wanted to note the lack of kids, and childish posts in this thread. We finally have a sanctum from those brats! :D *waits for next post to be about penises or how "gay" I am* On a side note, I downloaded MAME again today so I could re-enjoy THIS: ~Sol

Anyone remember the TAPE DRIVE on the C64? Like, press play, fuck off somewhere for 20 mins... come back, flip it over and play again... go away 10 more mins... come back "ERROR LOADING" FUCK! Start over... 8 attempts later it finally works. You play the game for 5 mins "this blows"... neeeeext! ~Sol

You can always pretend to be... most girl gamers I know do that to avoid unwanted attention. *EDIT* This thread is now about retro video gaming... GO! ~Sol
