Best Patch EVER

Recommended Posts

Just want to take a minute here, on behalf of everybody to thank the devs for such a functional, easy to install and working patch.

My character is 2 weeks old. I have not set up a camp so I had 4 guns with me. I also had all the essentials like nvgs gps etc. So I was running around not really knowing what to do, sometimes a bit reluctant to engage because I had a lot to loose and It was starting to become a problem for me. And then this beautiful patch game along. Not only has it eaten all my gear, but it spawned me on the coast. It did not take away my ghillie suit... So it was like a fresh start only more awesome because of the suit! Thanks guys!

Oh wait, I can't begin to thank everybody involved in the patch for finally getting that ammo glitch thing fixed. That was truly gamebreaking. Sometimes I did not want to log on out of fear that I would get shot by someone using glitched ammo.

Lets not forget the artifacts... When I heared that it was fixed I nearly cried. I couldn't believe such an important feature was being removed. I was so releaved to see that by "fixing" they actually meant making them bigger. I don't even need to take my lsd anymore.

Oh, if I was a fucking moron I wouldn't have detected the sarcastic butthurt.

This is Rocket's mod; his idea. Don't like it? Fuck off.

Man, something tells me here you're mad that an Alpha mod didn't fix your discomforts of a game? Please, do tell me more about how well of a game tester and reviewer you are here.

See? I can do the smug son of a bitch sarcasm, too.

The game is sort of unplayable while they fix the graphics problem, I thought it was my card dying .. phew.

I'm not sure what's funnier here. The OP or the people taking it so seriously.

Sit down, shut up and eat your fucking beans fanboy. I'm talking about the patch, not the mod.

Fanboy: One who is of the male gender and is a fan of a particular subject/object/person/--thing.

Hmm...

And the patch is part of the mod, Oh Mighty God of Butthurt.

As much as I am not condoning a bitching thread like this, this form of defense for Rocket doesn't apply here. I'm beginning to see it everywhere. If something's wrong "Oh, it's alpha, quit complaining." Sometimes that absolutely applies, sometimes it doesn't. In this case the argument being made is why the hell was there a patch released at all if it didn't work or made things worse. Rocket didn't make the decision to make a shitty update. So it's not "...his idea. Don't like it? Fuck off." That being said from what it sounds like it didn't really do anything so what was the point? What new code were they testing before they released it that told them everything was fixed? Still though, Intensity obviously went about his/her criticism in a bitchy way. Go be passive aggressive somewhere else, we're here to provide feedback.

You see, the thing is, the fact of the matter isn't that "it didn't fix anything", it actually is "it didn't fix anything for me/you".

It works for some, others not.

It's the fact that Rocket has explicitly stated that he won't be releasing this patch onto the Six Launcher and other major mirrors/sites because he wants to make sure this patch actually works. He's already casted doubt on it, therefore, someone getting butt hurt on pretty much what is a Beta of a patch for and Alpha is what makes it a problem for him.

Ergo: This patch isn't confirmed.

You can't possibly be this dense can you?

Fanboy

An extreme fan or follower of a particular medium or concept, whether it be sports, television, film directors, video games (the most common usage), etc.

Known for a complete lack of objectivity in relation to their preferred focus. Usually argue with circular logic that they refuse to acknowledge. Arguments or debates with such are usually futile. Every flaw is spun into semi-virtues and everything else, blown to comedic, complimentary proportions.

Oh, yes, yes of course!

You people use it so loosely. Is it because you lack words to express? Please, enlighten me.

^These would be legitimate arguments against the "It didn't fix anything oh my god what are you guys doing?" argument.

"It's Rocket's mod, it's free, he can do whatever he wants, therefore fuck off." is getting really old on the forums. My point was only that if morons come on the forums with stupid threads like this, don't respond with equal stupidity.

I think with the focus being on developing the game, the mod has become an afterthought. It's not a bad thing I suppose, but it does make patches that don't improve the game seem a bit half arsed. I know I'm not entitled to anything, but if this is the quality of patches we have to look forward to they should just stop working on the mod.

They'd close DayZ down completely if they thought it was in their interest.... But I imaging keeping it alive has some monetary value now that DayZ is going to become a commercial product.

Looking forward to all the PR/marketing crap now!

Old? No no, there is no age to the phrase. It is merely fact.

Live with it. You are playing it in alpha. I have had things just like this happen to me before, but I have stuck with it and enjoyed it.

IMO the game is really boring if you have all the best shit in the game anyway.

As a programmer, I can certainly confirm that alpha version are always going to be buggy. Especially when a new patch is released (or even better, just being tested and hasn't "officially" released yet).

That being said, I am a bit disappointed at some of the problems that just keep popping up in the game. Graphical glitches I can understand, those are card dependent usually and are difficult to test when you have a small team. But the spawning on the coast stuff that seems to happen with almost every update? Surely someone would catch a bug like that during QA and keep it from being released at all until this is fixed. While the product may be free at the moment, there is still the pride as a programmer to only release code that has been tested enough to prevent massive bugs like this. It's that kind of professional mannerism that not only Rocket and his team lack, but most game companies in general these days.

My post was meant to be a humourous take on the situation. I know the mod is free, I know that it's in development.

Be that as it may, people involved in the project do get paid. This is not something made in spare time. Someone actually got paid to develop this patch and that's a fact. Dayz has become so much more than just a mod. I really hope they get their act together by the time the standalone will be released.
