its a very small drop chance, and it only drops on chopper downs...

Really rare finding one in spawn. Chance of finding one on a player about 80%. Recent dupes makes everyone have one.

Accuracy really isn't that great but thermal is win.

They aren't rare anymore. Since not many things spawn at heli crashes, it's one thing you'll almost always find at one, along with the Bizon SD. I've found 2 at a time before, and I often find them at camps as well.

They're limited to only having the option of the thermal/nightvision scope, and since it's not well suited as a sniping rifle, it's pretty useless in my opinion. Maybe fun to use as a spotter for a sniper with an actual rifle (something chambered in 7.62 or higher) due to the great spotting capability of the thermal, but being as the thermal vision is rather limited (won't see through objects for some reason, probably game engine limitation), I'd drop it for just about any other rare weapon (even an iron-sighted FN FAL, or an M14).

Nice to have if you like hoarding a small cache of weapons though.

Depends on how lucky you get, i've found 3 at chopper sites in one session and had periods of 2 weeks where i didn't even see one. Due to the limited number of spawns at heli sites they're not massively rare, it's just a case of finding an unlooted one or one that hasn't gone crazy for FALs which i seem to find at 9/10 sites -.-

I found 2 at a heli crash yesterday. One each for me n my mate. Also there were 2x m249 saw (left them) AS50 (my baby) and a dmr (buddy took it), All with plenty of ammo :)

Not really rare, had 4 of them already and even gave one away to a guy who escorted me back to my dead body.

Find a SVD + ammo then come ask this question again.
