New unofficial DayZ map that I thought you folks might be interested in.

Quite good actually. Anyone have any good stories?

Came up behind a guy who only had a handgun. He saw me as I was stalking him and tossed a grenade at me. He was actually a good throw, and after that I lost him. He managed to flank me but messed up - his weapon was only a makarov and he didn't kill me when he had me. Later went up to this research center/radio antenna station. Didn't find anything interesting, but tried going into this little military outpost an got trapped :P Dropped a grenade right as they got me. Haven't had that much fun in DayZ in a while.

I'm referring to the number of locks DayZ Lingor has received on this forum. I made this thread with the same format of the WarZ Chit Chat thread (which is on page 64 and also links their website and an IGN coverage). Since we cannot say how to download or install Lingor, another game, does that also mean we cannot link how to install other software, including but not limited to other games that may have the same theme?

I would have just gone about my day posting on another Lingor thread, like this one, which does not post how to play it via DayZ either. However, Boneboys went and locked it because

Lingor is not part of the DayZ modification.

(this being off-topic general discussion, hence not about DayZ anyways)

While this rule may apply to server hosts, does it also apply to end users? In either case, by what authority can Rocket dictate which mission files and other mods can and cannot be played outside of DayZ ("outside of DayZ" being off of the main hive)?

It'd be a far more profitable decision to allow DayZ Lingor to continue and use it as an experimental testbed for new features. It might also be profitable to continue in their direction by approaching other map creators as a monthly or bi-monthly release. It just seems a very backwards stance, seeing as how WarZ has (from what I've read) been considered by Rocket as "good" for DayZ's development by providing competition, and a backwards stance as a mod within a larger modding community. It'd be like a Fallout 3 mod that says no other mods can be used with it for no reason other than the creator's whims.

Edit: Bed time. Maybe someone else will pick up where I left off. Respawned somewhere on the south of Lingor, I think, and ran around through a few towns. Ran into one of those military buildings from my OP (bad idea) and got eaten again. Finished off the last zed only to be knocked out as it was dying. Then the next wave of military zeds spawned and proceeded to eat me :( Was at 8k hp when I was knocked out, would've survived it. The jungle parts of the map are amazing, and a lot of the hilly areas provide natural cover to walk through. It's a lot more hilly than Chernarus, but in a good way.

There is one mission file for DayZ right now that is official, but I can only stop you from linking said method of playing in the forums. I am not suggesting you go and find alternative ways, but I can not stop you either. It still breaks the rules due to modified files, I am instructed to disallow all forms.

So, I've just got Lingor Island, the new map for DayZ, downloaded I thought it was going to be pretty good only to find out that

there is only one server running it, and that server is in RU... Why aren't more servers running Lingor? Is it because it's only

available to run to the people who made it or what? And to top it off, the server is always full of people, and it crashes

constantly... WE NEED MORE LINGOR ISLAND SERVERS!

Either way, isn't that a Czech Army pack map? I'm not gonna buy another DLC just to play on a new map. Do I look like a CoD player?

There are a few, always full. Its unfortunate but it isn't part of the hive and it isn't "legit" in the sense that it is private. So we can't really complain at scarcity.

Yeah it's not official, I suggest waiting for rocket to say something about custom maps before you go getting some.

You don't have to pay for the map, you just download it and place it into the files and you can play the servers hosting it.

its an interesting map, I like that its smaller and there's more player interactions (maybe because I like shooting players but that's me) But there is a TON of military spawns everywhere so everyone can have an assault rifle within 5 minutes of spawning

the ingame search rarely shows all servers if you go to http://arma2.swec.se/server/list and type into the name Filter "Lingor" you will see every Lingor Island server and where there based who there hosted by and whether they are Online or the server is down. from there you will want to click on the server of your choice and you will see under "current status" will be "address" which is the IP of the server by copying it and going into "remote" on the Ingame filter it should bring up a box called "Host IP address" you click on the space where you can type and press ctrl V and it will paste the IP address you copied from that site listed above and click Okay you should find that server with no problem. :)

however for some reason i can always see atleast alot of servers (not all are joinable some are passworded, some are Red Sphered, tho i play on the Server IP of 209.222.92.242:2302 which is DayZ Non-HIVE Server Lingor #1 which is hosted in The US thankfully :) Hopefully this helps you and anyone else who reads this.

its just as legit as cherno, and its free

and tbh, its more fun, has less hackers, and is a nice change of pace from cherno
