sarlac 10 Posted August 4, 2012 there are only less hackers because it's NOT an official part of the dayz mod. The guys that made this work are doing it on their own. Yes it runs on an unofficial hive. Yes there are very few servers running it. No it is not part of the army of the czech republic DLC. Yes it is a nice change if you have grown tired of chernarus. Brudagon (DayZ) 64 Posted August 4, 2012 It's not a part of DayZ, it's a mod of the mod.
dsi24 227 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) I'm pretty sure that the server running that map isn't a legit server.Either way, isn't that a Czech Army pack map? I'm not gonna buy another DLC just to play on a new map. Do I look like a CoD player?Uh, no, Lingor Island came out in 2010. (It's a port of the Jagged Alliance map, but with a lot more water.) dustylion@gmail.com 14 Posted August 4, 2012 A german server recently opened up, so us western folk can have a little easier of a time playing. I like the map. While its somewhat lacking in brush I like the fact that every building is enterable. So raiding a town litterally means raiding a town and not just the barn outside of it.Weapon and military spawns are kind of common, but I again think this is a good thing because it keeps the action spread out versus all condensed to like 4 hot spots. OrLoK 16185 Posted August 4, 2012 Hello thereFYI any released DLC stuff is included in the latest patches (or as a dl) albeit as a LITE version, so if (and there would be no point) DAYZ moved to one of the Czech army maps everyone could play.Lingor, as others have stated is a User made map.I assume when folk say it was ported from JA they actually mean inspired by JA.RgdsLoK
Drogur (DayZ) 169 Posted August 4, 2012 So...we are all Aplha testers for Dayz.....and now we are going to talk about a copy- cat?We dont need that...we need to produce and give gaming data to the right Hive, so that Dayz can grow. This thread should be locked. A new map on a private server does nothing to hurt this mod. The fact that we all still play DayZ and are still discussing it on DayZ's own forum shows that we still support this mod. Its not like the dayZLingor dev is claiming he made DayZ or that he's even really splitting the base.
Junkyard 5 Posted August 5, 2012 I watched this Tutorial video i feel like this is a trick to download a virus.Who made this map?Is it legit ?Can we play with out being banned?is the server running it connected to the hive?whats the deal yo?
Gruelius 16 Posted August 5, 2012 first rule of lingor island club is dont talk about lingor island club
Lennsik 176 Posted August 5, 2012 Lingor Island is a, reportedly, ripped off version of DayZ by some people who decided to steal Rocket's code without his permission. It's generally enforced that we don't talk of it here.
Junkyard 5 Posted August 5, 2012 fuck it im bored of dayz somthing new sounds fun
Gruelius 16 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) isnt it the same deal as private servers for code stealing/reverse engineering of the hive? If they used the dayz scripts/code and just had a new map with new loot locations i couldnt see it being THAT bad but if they are forking off to their own code branch then its naughty. Junkyard 5 Posted August 5, 2012 i dunno sounds fun tho
Lennsik 176 Posted August 5, 2012 Sad thing is, because it isn't connected to HIve, you're dealing with a load more hackers than before. As well as not being supported past 1.7.4 code.
Junkyard 5 Posted August 5, 2012 oh well lol hackers gonna get you no matter what dayz is a hacker fest

Dawn (DayZ) 27 Posted August 5, 2012 seems like a map for DayZ which is situated in hawaii or something, its a tropical island with mostly all enterable buildings, i havent played this myself, just seen videos of it on youtube..
LiveBUNKERKING 7 Posted August 5, 2012 It's an awesome map to play for DayZ. I have not encountered any hackers so far and most of the people on the servers are pretty chill guys.
S3V3N 1402 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Oh, it's not legit? Because I thought a Haiti-like scenario would fit the game/mod very well. It could be interesting to see an island that was still recovering from a natural desaster, e.g. Tsunami (you'd see construction sites, rebuilding, etc). It would also make a lot of sense to have power shut down in a scenario like this, just as a precaution. A lot of things could still be operational, but you have to find out where and what is.It seems easy as pie to rip the original scripts from Arma II mods. It happend to the CLR mod, which had some offspring, too.I see a lot of promise in a scenario like this. Islands are perfect locations for dystopian settings (jurassic park, island of dr moreau, Dead Island, etc). I can't seem to connect though, servers are either locked or have me waiting forever. Even though it's not legit, I'd like to have seen and figured out what it's like. From what I heard a lot more buildings can be entered, which is a good thing, imho. Never 237 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Sad thing is, because it isn't connected to HIve, you're dealing with a load more hackers than before. As well as not being supported past 1.7.4 code.It actually has less hackers due to the limited servers etc, and it runs an older version of DayZ code so a lot of the problems simply aren't there.Rocket can't really be that upset, someones just modded his mod. He doesn't own zombies or the code, so yeah gutted, but personally Lingor plays likeDayZ used to, before it went to shit. mac 80 Posted August 5, 2012 Lingor Island has been around in arma for a long time. The map is legit. The DayZ version is not authorized by Rocket since they did not ask permission for the DayZ code. Any characters on Lingor will be on a seperate hive than Chernarus
4L4N 276 Posted August 5, 2012 Not Officially part of DayZ.Moving to Off Topic.
