Can we please have wind affecting fires, temp and shots?

Recommended Posts

Could we have that? Exposed fires get put out by strong winds. Temperature drops faster. Ballistic is affected by direction of the wind.

If you don't approach a zed from against the wind then he can sense you from shorter distances.

Is it too much?

I doubt ARMA2 engine has this feature. So coding it from scratch would be too much big of a pain for its worth. Better to use that time to code something more practical.

If this game winds up going standalone and not as a mod it MIGHT be coded in, but I don't have high hopes for this with DayZ in this form.

i cant see how this could turn stand alone considering its a mod of a very complex game.. he would have to match arma 2 engine

Arma 2 is ready for wind modification... Since it works in ACE.

So it s probably "Not that hard" to implement.

And yes, like in ace, that would be awesome...

About Z's , not sure they could have a better nose than us. They already hear and see very well. Or you have to base their faculties on that. But the rest must then goes down.

Because if they got good view, good ear and good nose... Man, hope they will never pick a rifle.

I like the idea of having wind affect ballistics. Would make killing things at range more challenging and fun. Fire fights would last longer too.

For what i remember, in Arma2 wind and parabolic shot, for long distance work great.

so need only to enabled. maybe i say wrong

This would make things unnecessarily more complex and exposed to bug and conflicts with other DayZ/Arma 2 characteristics.

I remember is already implemented in Arma2 so, no conflicts, bugs etc

Add more realistic effet for shoting in a "simulator", means more realism,

and prevented them Fragger to ruin the atmosphere.

"I feel that adding things such as wind would make the game too inaccessible and overcomplicated for a lot of people"

lol that's brilliant.

Me and I'd imagine the majority of non-"harcore" players don't want to spend hours researching how wind affects the velocity and path of bullets.

If we're going to add wind, why not also add how heat can affect vision? How about our centre of gravity affecting how we hold the gun? By adding things such as wind, not only is it taking up a huge amount of time to code, but it also makes things horrendously overcomplicated.

…and this is…bad?

The good about Arma2 (simulator) and the first day of Dayz is…

has never been a game for everyone, untill the last days…

this mod is attracting too many arcade player, and arcade player want only FRAGKILL!

and do not care about the simulation, and it is becoming boring.

Add a bit of trouble, take away the casual gamer

About technical problems, everything is already implemented in Arma2

This game is supposed to work against you and be unforgiving.

If it becomes too hard for the mainstream gamer, even better.

Temperature drops faster.

Faster ? Are you serious ? Are you mad ?!!!!!!

Once the temperature system is fixed and fully functional, of course.

Folks. Wind is already implemented since OFP days. Wind affects smoke, your shots, and also in DayZ your temperature.

Wat.

I thought in OA you needed a mod for heavy wind mechanics.

Does it change in DayZ, or it's just a regular current?

ACE mod improves wind mechanics.

I'd love to see scent/wind affecting your detectability - having to take wind direction into account when approaching a town so as not to alert all the zed to your presence.

Did you at least read my post? I just said that when the temp is fuly functional you won't be losing it so fast...

Anyway, it is already implemented.
