Rollonio 54 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Why in the world are people so crazy about the SVD camo?Am I missing something? Compared to the DMR, the SVD seems like a clear loser.Draws:Neither can be zeroedSame damagePros:a ) Grass hangs off the thing, so it's slightly harder to see than the green DMRb ) It's got a cool PSO scope for measuring distancec ) It's rarer so you can seem 1337 by running around with it.d ) 200m greater effective rangeCons:a ) No double zoomb )doesn't work with NVGc ) extremely rare ammoThe cons clearly outweigh the pros in my book, hence i've got the DMR in my bag and SVD in my tent. What do you guys think? tylahfoo 10 Posted August 6, 2012 For someone who has every sniper rifle it is a dream to finishing a collection =p. I prefer the AS50 to any other rifle, but the SVD is something I haven't put in my tent yet.
ODoyleRulez 195 Posted August 6, 2012 SVD all the way. Trained sniper's best friend.
Razmatazz 7 Posted August 6, 2012 The SVD's scope is all I need to know. It's much nicer to be able to tell their distance, and shoot, without having to switch to rangefinders.
Disgraced 1123 Posted August 6, 2012 For someone who has every sniper rifle it is a dream to finishing a collection =p. I prefer the AS50 to any other rifle, but the SVD is something I haven't put in my tent yet.I put one in my tent.... And it promptly vanished. I've still never found a single round for one, though, so meh.

Delta Smoke 01 765 Posted August 6, 2012 I prefer the dmr to be fair. It has 20 a shot magazine and the ammo is common. Can be used as an assault rifle at close range aswell due to the 20 shot mag. Like mountain dew i see the svd as more of the snipers collectors item.
NezhaX 0 Posted August 6, 2012 I have a mag for it, but no gun.I do have dmr though, so I'm good.
Dazed 80 Posted August 6, 2012 I put one in my tent.... And it promptly vanished.I've still never found a single round for one, though, so meh.Can only find it in ammo crates. Stupidly rare, harder to find than the gun.
SeNoZinD 19 Posted August 6, 2012 I found a heli crash with an ammo box including 10 svd mags, 10 M24 mags, and 10 dmr mags. Too bad I didn't have any of the gun lol
Erik (DayZ) 61 Posted August 6, 2012 I'd rather go for the DMR.
amaROenuZ 144 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Honestly, I don't see the appeal of most snipers. The ammo is just too rare on em for them to be much use in my opinion, especially since in the next patch, you won't get your free top off when you log. With a DMR though, you get NVG compatibility and plentiful ammo, with a huge mag. What's not to like? Edited August 6, 2012 by amaROenuZ
Kar98 27 Posted August 6, 2012 I got lucky and found a 7.62mm ammo box with 10 SVD mags and I want to use them! Also the rangefinder is super awesome
peyote (DayZ) 23 Posted August 6, 2012 It's like the caviar of snipers, classy but in reality pretty shit.
badger05 41 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) as50 is by far the best sniper rifle and combined with the l85 for scouting purposes only it's even better (never try to shoot the l85 it has shit all for aim and damage) Edited August 6, 2012 by badger05
stupror 25 Posted August 6, 2012 the SVD scope is far superior to DMR scope due to its more precise "mildots" and fast on the run range estimation!I would however choose a 50 cal over the SVD everyday and i would only want a dmr during night time
RSOblivioN 8 Posted August 6, 2012 L85A2 AWS has same damage as the M4's/M16's. It's a 5.56 assault rifle not a sniper rifle. Once you get used to it you can use it very very effectively...SVD is a friend of mine's favourite, though I prefer the DMR and the AS50. DMR for Night ops and AS50 for Day ops.
