SVD fanatics... Why?

Why in the world are people so crazy about the SVD camo?

Am I missing something? Compared to the DMR, the SVD seems like a clear loser.

Draws:

Neither can be zeroed

Same damage

Pros:

a ) Grass hangs off the thing, so it's slightly harder to see than the green DMR

b ) It's got a cool PSO scope for measuring distance

c ) It's rarer so you can seem 1337 by running around with it.

d ) 200m greater effective range

Cons:

a ) No double zoom

b )doesn't work with NVG

c ) extremely rare ammo

The cons clearly outweigh the pros in my book, hence i've got the DMR in my bag and SVD in my tent.

What do you guys think?

The SVD's scope is all I need to know. It's much nicer to be able to tell their distance, and shoot, without having to switch to rangefinders.

I prefer the dmr to be fair. It has 20 a shot magazine and the ammo is common. Can be used as an assault rifle at close range aswell due to the 20 shot mag. Like mountain dew i see the svd as more of the snipers collectors item.

Can only find it in ammo crates. Stupidly rare, harder to find than the gun.

I found a heli crash with an ammo box including 10 svd mags, 10

M24 mags, and 10 dmr mags. Too bad I didn't have any of the gun lol

Honestly, I don't see the appeal of most snipers. The ammo is just too rare on em for them to be much use in my opinion, especially since in the next patch, you won't get your free top off when you log. With a DMR though, you get NVG compatibility and plentiful ammo, with a huge mag. What's not to like?

I got lucky and found a 7.62mm ammo box with 10 SVD mags and I want to use them! Also the rangefinder is super awesome

as50 is by far the best sniper rifle and combined with the l85 for scouting purposes only it's even better (never try to shoot the l85 it has shit all for aim and damage)

the SVD scope is far superior to DMR scope due to its more precise "mildots" and fast on the run range estimation!

I would however choose a 50 cal over the SVD everyday and i would only want a dmr during night time

L85A2 AWS has same damage as the M4's/M16's. It's a 5.56 assault rifle not a sniper rifle. Once you get used to it you can use it very very effectively...

SVD is a friend of mine's favourite, though I prefer the DMR and the AS50. DMR for Night ops and AS50 for Day ops.
