Anton17 97 Posted August 5, 2012 I've noticed a trend lately of a mass of threads directed towards hacking, which has not only frustrated those starting the threads but also the ones that have to read them. The reason is simple: at this current stage nothing can be done about hacking in general. End of story. The only thing we can hope to do is compile logs and pray that BattleEye continue the bannings of people ruining our alpha experience. There is one short-term solution that we can at least provide to other players to help them avoid hackers. Since we as a community can't do anything but report the hackers, we might as well do something useful for ourselves and the rest of the users that want a better gameplay session, instead of posting countless threads about the issue that end up trolled, de-railed or simply being ignored in general. What I'd like to propose is that we start making a list of servers we've found have the biggest problems with hacking and ones that have had more than one or two users complaining that hacks or hackers were used / playing while they were. This way, we can at least try to avoid some of the more popular places for hacks, as well as hopefully let the admins know where to look for blacklisting.I'm aware this is going to have its fair share of weaknesses in terms of both questioning legitimate experiences with servers that have had hackers, the consistency of which those hackings have occurred, and also the inevitable outburst of a user or a server admin, seeing their server on the list, replying with "nooooo we dnt hack u do!!". There is also the fact that hackers do and go as they please, which means just because you've found a server with a hacker, doesn't mean it is frequented by hackers, doesn't mean nothing was done about it and doesn't mean that the server in question has done anything wrong. This is why we need several reports from different players to confirm if a server has a high rate of hackers. This is about honesty and respect and is not to be used in spite. If you're complaining about the legitimacy of a player or a server, then you sure as hell better be able to back it up and have that same level of honesty and legitimacy about yourself.I'm trying to do something beneficial here to try and help the community instead of encourage the countless inevitable pointless threads made daily on the issue and the trolls that frequent them.PLEASE, KEEP THIS THREAD CLEAN AND ONLY MAKE A REPORT IF YOU ARE CERTAIN. I DON'T WANT ANY NEEDLESS FLAMING OR DISPUTES ABOUT GOOD OR BAD SERVERS. USE YOUR BETTER JUDGEMENT AND ONLY REPORT THE NECESSARY INFORMATION.Unfortunately, there isn't a solid way to know if you're telling the truth. Only put down a server if you're certain that you've had an encounter with a hacker (not just a suspicion if you got killed by an unseen player), if you've had that encounter on that particular server more than once, if you have any evidence (screenshots are a luxury but also solid evidence) and if you can, the name of the player hacking. I don't want someone coming along because they fell out with a server and want petty revenge. This will be a test thread to see if we can come to a collective agreement about servers that should be either avoided, moderated/checked by DayZ staff, players that should be banned from servers or avoided if you see them. If this goes off the rails then I'll simply ask a moderator to lock or delete it.Please, as a community, show that you can pull together and start making collective efforts instead of frustrating each other and picking fights! Anton17 97 Posted August 5, 2012 Oh cool, good to know hackers are static.Useless thread, sorry.I did point that out, that's why I'm encouraging several reports of a specific player/server for it to be took into consideration for a list. What else can we do?
Frissy 31 Posted August 5, 2012 The majority of NZ have hackers on constantly. Also the ANZ servers are bad as well.
Mr Zee 30 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) I did point that out, that's why I'm encouraging several reports of a specific player/server for it to be took into consideration for a list. What else can we do?Nothing we can do, just wait for BattleEye to fix the exploits. The majority of NZ have hackers on constantly. Also the ANZ servers are bad as well.Thats because the admins on Orcon acknowledged publicly that they cannot do anything to stop the hacking going on, and for players to stop reporting it to them, I thought that server admins could issue a ban on the players, seems maybe not.Reference: http://games.orcon.n...opic,206.0.html Edited August 5, 2012 by Mr Zee
Dok Faust 1 Posted August 5, 2012 I did point that out, that's why I'm encouraging several reports of a specific player/server for it to be took into consideration for a list. What else can we do?Report hackers seen on servers to the server admins. All this thread will serve is to offer an unofficial blacklist, potentially from butthurt players with personal vendettas. Dok Faust 1 Posted August 5, 2012 P.S. BattleEye is straining to cope at the moment, we need players to be vigilant and report hackers.A time and location is handy then we can check server logs.
Anton17 97 Posted August 5, 2012 Yeah, alright, it was just an idea. If it doesn't work, that's fine, at least I tried.I simply felt it had more merit and purpose than those other threads popping up lately

Lupin-III 44 Posted August 6, 2012 If server population >= 1, hacker present.
BillyBobJoe (DayZ) 8 Posted August 6, 2012 I appreciate the idea, too, but I have to say it is a waste of effort. My friends just got a server that we can play on to avoid hackers and whatnot. Does it actually fix the problem? No. In fact, our first 48 hours on the server were worse than our previous two weeks combined, but it was mostly one stupid scripting POS. Luckily, when we play, my friend is logged in as an admin so when we see fishy things he kicks immediately, and later bans pending the offense.
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted August 6, 2012 yeah basically any server i have played in recent weeks has a hacker "script kiddie's" about... just gotta get on with it or submit defeat... at least until Battle eye sorts things out.
