Hackers are not the enemy!

Recommended Posts

It's the f*ing rocks!

So what's the story behind this picture?

My friend -- who had formerly quit DayZ -- agreed to join me in my adventures once more.

So I waited for him at the North-West Airfield while he ran from Dolina towards me, in pitch black darkness without a map or a compass.

He ended up getting jumped by a crawler, knocked unconscious, having his legs broken, and bleeding to death.

He tries again, running from the shore to Zelenogorsk and eventually up to me at the airfield. From there we started running towards my group's camp to get him well geared up.

After that, we started heading back to the airfield because he felt like sniping some people with a DMR in the night.

On our way there, he wanted to round up on a hill and check for people nearby. I decided to run up to the hill and past it, leaving him about 30 meters behind me on the hill.

Then I heard a crack, and I started laughing at him over voice chat(Steam), but then I saw the despised "was killed" message. And I started questioning how he died.

Apparently, he had simply run against the rock, broken his legs and gone to a shock, and dying only a few seconds later.

GG, Arma. GG.

(Disclaimer: Neither of us is complaining! I had a good laugh and so did he. Though he couldn't be bothered running back for a third time today.)

(Disclaimer2: The reason why I have so little zombie kills and so many murders is because I was picked up with my group's Ural after I spawned, and got my gear from the camp. The kills came from sitting at the airfield with an AS50. You can see the kills in my profile, as I'm keeping a little log on my kills.)

Edit: Not sure where I got the genius idea of posting this to Off-Topic, but it's here.

If a mod could move this to DayZ General Discussion, that would be great. c:

(Unless ofcourse they feel that this would serve more purpose here.)

The words in the title "Hackers are not the enemy". Hmmm. Perhaps you're drunk?

Indeed I am.

Drunk on laughter.

I've been killed by rocks more than anything. You shouldn't lose half to all your life just from breaking a bone. It should be enough that we can't walk.

DayZ is cruel. its brutal. its unforgiving. You can be killed by rocks, trees, doorframes or idle vehicles. Oh, and ladders. dat ladders.

this is not your rainbow and unicorns lalaland. this is dayz. you will die.

oh, and beans for your clickbait thread title. ;)

So he broke his leg sprinting full speed in the darkness. Was the darkness hacking?

No, he had NVGs. He knew very well where he was going. He wanted to climb onto the rock and see the whole area around us.

No one's hacking, here. The rock was just a little OP.

Indeed, I have been killed by rocks and general ArmAness far more than by hackers.

Doesn't eliminate the need to track down hackers and ban them though.

Running around in the pitch darkness and tripping on a rock only to die sounds like a pretty standard way to go. Zombie apocolypse or no.

Lessons learned :]

My friends/groups and I have died more due to rocks than hackers.

That doesn't mean they're allies, though. I grant you that.

Sorry, okay, so Hackers are in a neutral position?

I was told very early that this game was buggy and to stay off the rocks. That's been working pretty well for me. I avoid those things like they're massive holes in the ground. I still occasionally run off the side of stairs in barns though. What farmer builds a staircase without a rail?!

The rocks aint got me yet but those barn doors sure have broken me more than once.

I'm going rock hunting later to see how hard they really are :D

Am I the only one who hasn't died from doors, rocks, ladders and stairs yet?

I have gotten my legs broken from falling off stairs, but that's about it.

He got ArmA'd

Oh my "God" it has been resurrected from the dead...?

I had just come to terms with my phobia (stanophobia) of rocks in DayZ, but now all the counseling has gone out the window....

God damn you ROCKS if it wasn't hard enough to survive.

Even though this is a Necro thread I will say there are quite a few rocks in DayZ that deserve a bandit turban.

I've only had my leg broken (by a bug, ofc.) by my friend running the opposite way through the door, at the same time I was...

Could you imagine it, someone who survived the initial zombie apocalypse dies, from tripping off a rock. Totally anti-climatic, no?
