Plz help a newb enter hospitals and a couple other things! thanks!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Thanks for reading. some newbie questions I tried searching and couldn't find with the search...

1 - I'm in Berezino city. At the hospital. Shot out the front few windows 6-8 times. Windows didnt break and I can't get inside. The only time I entered a hospital was one time when I had a hatchet and hit the front windows. What should I do?

2 - Once I notice that my guy is "unconscious" from zombie hits...what do I do when the hourglass runs out and I'm still alive? Run?

3 - I found a gun with a scope. Sometimes i somehow looked through the scope and other times I couldn't. Tips?

4 - reload at cardboard box? eh? please elaborate.

Thanks guys! fun game but really confused here with some things. I did survive for a few hours for my first time today though! .... by mostly running...away....and further away...again and again....arghhhh. fun game tho!

cheers

....and lastly!! please!! I've tried reading the newb guide but I CANNOT equip the hatchet I just found. I have one gun with a scope and JUST found the hatchet.

I try to unequip it from my toolbelt and it keeps telling me some message in white about not having enough room in inventory to unequip. Please someone patiently detail how to equip this darn thing!

thanks fellerz!

Try shooting or throwing something at the glass on the edges of the hospital which usually cause them all to break.

Far as the hatchet, the only way I know how to equip it while having a main gun is to either drop the gun or put it into your backpack that has at least 10 free slots for the gun itself. Then remove the hatchet from toolbelt and there you go.

To enter a hospital, break the glass on the far left or far right using tin cans or a hatchet. Guns take too long and attract attention.

When you regain consciousness, make sure you aren’t bleeding and continue playing.

To scope in on a rifle, double click right mouse button. (Same on all weapons)

The reload option thing at vehicles, tents and boxes will take the first set of items from it and put it in your inv. (I think)

You cannot equip the hatchet while holding a primary weapon (rifle) as the hatchet occupies the primary slot. So either put your primary weapon in your pack (make sure you have room for it and the ammo! Primary guns need 10 slots, and 1 slot for each magazine.

Once primary weapon is no longer in the slot, you can remove hatchet from tool belt, once you have reloaded it, all done! To put it back in your tool belt right click and add to tool belt. (The reason for reloading the hatchet is that it was not intended to be used as a weapon, so it has been modified, it is essentially an extremely short range gun)

To address #2: If you are still alive, try to get away and lose the Z. That's a learning curve in itself. Once you are away, make sure your blood isn't still going down, and use a bandage from inventory. If you're hourglassing, you are low on blood anyhow. Find food and eat lots of it.

Lots to learn by playing. I'm glad you're trying it out and having a crack at things on your own.

Also the empty whiskey bottle seems to do the trick for me, on those windows. Watch your back. Unfriendlies of all kinds will be watching you in the markets and hospitals.

1. Hit the windows with a hatchet or use a tin can, don't waste ammo and attract zombies by shooting your gun. If the glass does not break after 1 hit move to the next one. There is a small chance that you have desynced from the server and the glass is broken but you cannot see it, logging out and back in will fix this.

2. Depends on the situation and how you play the game.

3. When you climb ladders the game lowers your weapon before you get on the ladder, sometimes it forgets to raise the weapon back up after you get off of the ladder, double click ctrl to raise the weapon up. This only happens with the primary weapon (cannot lower the secondary) and you can see if it has happened by looking to see if the gun is pointing downwards. Another easy way to fix it is switch weapons.

4. "Rearm" is an Arma II feature, just ignore it. For ammo boxes it should fill your spare inventory slots with the same ammo as your primary weapon but I have not tried it.

Windows can be broken with thrown items such as grenades or empty can/tins/bottles (which is advised).

When you're on low enough blood to be knocked out via Zombie-punch, you should probably get someone to give you a blood transfusion. Otherwise, eat lots of cooked meat (which you loot from players, tents, vehicles or cook yourself) or a million cans of food in order to replenish your blood.

-12000 is max blood.

-9000 is when Zombies can K.O. you.

-5000 is when you will pass out by yourself at random intervals. At this point, you're basically screwed unless you get help.

There are many possible reasons why you can't look through the scope of your weapon - though the two main reasons are;

1. Your gun has been lowered, which you can remedy by double-tapping the left Ctrl button.

OR

2. You've pressed F, which switches what you can use with the primary mouse button. If you have flares, trash, grenades, chemlights or any other throwable object, you can switch to equip them via the F button. It will give you details at the top right hand side of your screen upon pressing the button. Keep pressing it until it returns to your actual weapon, then you may be able to scope in again.

Cardboard boxes are typically full of medical equipment - just use your inventory button to access it, don't worry about the 'rearm at' selection - it isn't implemented into Day Z.

Your hatchet, once removed from your toolbelt, becomes your primary weapon. Since you're telling us you already have something with a scope, we can assume that you already have a primary weapon. In order to put your scoped weapon away, you will need 10 free slots in your backpack for the weapon by itself - with extras for the ammo as required. Note that the backpack you spawn with has only 8 slots, meaning it is insufficient to hold any weaponry and if you try to place one inside, it will disappear and never return from the depths of Alpha.

Hope this helps.

I'm of the impression that this value is wrong. To my mind it's more like 3k blood.
