Arlof_Bluetooth 5 Posted August 1, 2012 Hi everyone,This is my first suggestion, and its been something thats been bothering me ever since i started playing DayZ mod a few months ago.Ok so the first thing we learn in zombie-apocalypse preparatory school is this: "Dont get bitten!". However, in some games (like Left 4 Dead) this isn´t true since the players are "immune", and it wouldn´t be practical for the players to catch a disease since the game only lasts for about 10 minutes. In DayZ, on the other hand, a game can last much longer - bringing in new factors such as diseases. I think we can all agree that the number one disease on Chernarus is the zombie infection, however strangely enough no players have ever been infected by this disease. My suggestions:1) Add a ~5% chance of contracting the infection for every hit from a zombie2) Players must find antibiotics within a set time limit.3) During this set time period his skin could "degrade" into different stages, looking more and more like a zombie3) If antibiotics are not administered within the time limit, the player will die.4) The corpse of an infected dead player will come alive as hostile after ~1 minute.5) This new zombie should be more powerful i think, like having a 100% chance of spreading infection on a hit, or being able to run faster, take more damage etc. This would add some drama to playing in a team. If a team-member is infected, how long can you risk keeping him alive? And who will be the one to shoot him?Feel free to make some additional suggestions!
sealteamaus 16 Posted August 1, 2012 If I were making the game I would address why you can't get infected if there was a 0% chance of infection. But we are still in alpha don't forget!
blackmarine220 2 Posted August 1, 2012 If you are on North part of cherno.. arround Vybor and international airfield you have to walk away to coast because of 1 zombie ? When that zombies lagging arround like crazy ? I dont think this is good idea. You have to first add another hospitals on map or more antibiotics spawns
Arlof_Bluetooth 5 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) If you are on North part of cherno.. arround Vybor and international airfield you have to walk away to coast because of 1 zombie ? When that zombies lagging arround like crazy ? I dont think this is good idea. You have to first add another hospitals on map or more antibiotics spawnsThe presence of bugs in the game is no reason not to implement new things and new ideas, the bugs will be gone soon. Also, if you´re in Vybor and the NW Airfield, as long as you or a team member have antibiotics in your backpack, you dont have to go to a hospital because of one bite.Yes, antibiotics could be made more common. You don´t have to create more hospitals to do that. You could give antibiotics a chance to spawn in military buildings for example. However it has to be rare enough to create some desperation for the player that is infected. Edited August 1, 2012 by Arlof_Bluetooth
Boyos (DayZ) 15 Posted August 1, 2012 Infection is in the game, makes you cough constantly and I think shake, but not as bad as pain. Also you have a higher chance of getting it from being around a player who has an infection. So if you and a buddie are running arround you have a chance to get his infection. You don't have to worry about turning into a zombie, bit your noisy.

I´m talking about the actual zombie infection here.
evolution (DayZ) 51 Posted August 2, 2012 First thing I saw were the tags, holy....But yeah sounds good, not really important now, plus maybe do a 1-2% chance from being hit by a zombie to receive the infection. 5% is mad high.
Strategos (DayZ) 190 Posted August 6, 2012 I think the idea is that as survivors we are the small percentage of the population that have a natural immunity.
RapturJesus 90 Posted August 6, 2012 They already have an infection chance. Its just very very very very very low. If you play on nighttime servers while its raining you have higher chance. Check out the DayZ wiki. I think they have some info about getting infected. As for players coming alive as a zombie? Yes. Making them have super powers? No
PigMonkey 12 Posted August 30, 2012 just for the record... I've been playing on a nighttime server for the past week now (only because I found a FAL with night vision and it's none togglable & looking for a better weapon to swap) neway... I've managed to now get an infection twice in one week! :( very north of map atm so now have to move all the way back south to the Hospitals at cherno & Elektro
colekern 1364 Posted August 31, 2012 People need to check the "Rocket said" thread. He talked about it in it. He's going to add it.
agippo 37 Posted August 31, 2012 sweet idea. I did see this in the potential updates list for the standalone too like the above poster
malau (DayZ) 36 Posted August 31, 2012 I like the idea of becoming a zombie and infecting others as a refreshing change from just respawning back on the coast with nothing. Would your player Zombie be able to interact with, or attack the NPC zombies ?
