Nooby experiences, one week in...

Recommended Posts

Every day I love this game more. Today, I learned I like the night more than than the day because I can sneak passed zombies.

Before dawn today, I watched one player dancing with his gun atop the roof of the college in Elektro. I wondered what he would think if he knew I was lying so close by. It was sweet to see him having fun doing his little torchy dance.

I watched a sniper trying to snipe, not knowing that I was lying 3 metres to his right and if I were like him, I could have done the same. I watched two bandits fight it out, and a number of people use their flashlights as though there wasn't another person in the world - hey, we can see you! :)

On my own, I strolled through Elektro, though it was so dark I kept bumping into things. I like the dark. I like that others seem to need their flashlight. Throw it away. I even warned two players who were around the store that I could see them, via direct chat, and told them I was friendly an unarmed. A few seconds later there were gun shots and two deaths. *shakes head*

I just love this game. I love the bits where I'm on my own and don't feel worried because I have a couple of cans of soda and some beans, so I can relax. And I love the parts I hate just as much.

Funny, I had a hatchet I couldn't use and when I spawned yesterday I kept finding barns and sheds with 4 or more axes (hatchets) in them. Now I'd love one because I saw a video on how to use them. I keep wanting to hate the game but apart from the zombies I can't think of anything.

Actually, when I'm running through town with my train of zombies, so everyone else can shop in peace, I feel quite fond of the zombies too. :)

If only all new players why like this. Once they get over the initial learning curve they can see how brilliant Dayz really is. Most seem to just want to rage and cry about how "hard" the game is and everything should be nerfed to their level. But I digress. Glad you are enjoying the game, one of the strengths of the sand-box world is that anything can happen so its differnt every time you play.

Haha! I had a box of matches today. For half an hour, they were all mine. I felt such happiness for that brief time.

Yes, could you get me some beans, sardines, water bottle, 2 pepsi or coke, a compass, a hunting knife and hatchet, matches, wood, morphine, and 3 cows. :D

If you like watching people, head up to one of the tall rooftop sniper spots in cherno on a fresh spawn. Even better if you hit the supermarket first and find some soda/food/binocs. You don't need a gun.

Anyway, get up there, get the binocs out, and just watch people. You'll be safe from zombies up there. Watch what people do - how they run, what you notice first when you spot them, how far away they are when you spot them, and how hard it would be to hit them with an open sight rifle.

Take all of this into consideration the next time you're strolling around town looting, especially trailing zombies behind you.

Yes, if you hang out on a rooftop, you will eventually get sniped by someone in the hills or another rooftop. I still think its a good exercise to do for a new player that will give them a lot of experience in a short amount of time. Anyway, I think its better than heading north, spending 4 days of 'gearing up' heading into town, and getting popped by the first person you see.

I really love your story and the way that you see the game, It's a bleak world out there but if I got to hang out with someone like you then I think id enjoy discovering all these things with you in-game.

You've seen more/different things then I have but we have something in common, we love this game.

My only thing I don't like about it is that I don't want to just play for 30 minutes even if I have the time. I feel like I need 1+ hours to immerse myself :)

Happy adventures and survive well my friend

Haha, thats a lot of shopping. You want me to bag it for you? ^^

Well, if i get my hands on too many of either, you are welcome to have them... all though, the cows are a damn hard to push around...

Hoorah, that does sound both a very interesting thing to try, and a sure way to a quick death! :D

Grandcleric, meet up with me sometime. I'm no help at all. I have nothing and can't use a flashlight but I love crawling and creepy and running fast through forests and fields, and trying to find gun I can't load let alone fire!

Do you have skype? I'm sulalee01 Anyone in the dayz community should feel free to add me and get in touch if you want to meet up. Just remember I can't keep myself alive, so I can't protect anyone either. But you can be show I won't kill you. That's again everything I believe. x

Kozak! I am depending on your for those cows! <_<

Sula, if I ever get my hands on a car, bus or truck again, ill take you out on the countryside, so you can shoot all the cows we find. We can even have a picnic afterwards somewhere. Or invite people over for a grill party ^^

There are :beans: for all the vegetarians!

Nice post, you dame, have my beans!

Seems like you had courage to stay in the town actually :) I always moved out about as fast as I could and loot around the north :) I hope you show up sometime to drag that zombie train so I can loot around safely for a brief time! :)

When it's getting late and long past when I should have been sleeping, and I got nothing to lose, I will run like crazy in a town. Aggravate as many Zombies as I can and see how many I can get to follow me. I am not sure what the max is, but there is a max as far as I can tell.

Sula we have very similar play styles and experience.

Jaznap, haha thank you! Look out for me on the servers, wherever I am, there's whole train of zombies running after me - even at night! :D

Kozak, we should ask Nooby Noobster at Youtube if he'll take us all on his bus! Great videos he does, I just love the. Do have a look if you get a chance. He's so funny, but good at dayz too.

HMS, I hope we can run around screaming while trying to hatchets soon! :D

Hadria, right I'll add your name to the list of people coming on the bus ride if we ever find a bus! ;)

I had a knife so I killed a cow in a field. Only problem was the zombies. I couldnt get near the darn thing! Poor cow. I wouldn't have shot you had I realised I couldnt eat you.

DayZ allows you to make your own story. Its not hand fed to you which is the beuty of it. I just wish players would take a chance more and make friends, not turn on you like a coward\traitor. But thats gamers for you.

That's exactly what I think about when someone says the game is boring and you have nothing to do than kill others. I don't get it, how can have so little imagination.

Anyway, the dark is great. Only I can't see during the night :D

There were some servers where I could see ok, like it was really early in the evening so my color was gray instead of pitch black, but I don't know if that's because of the time of the day, or if those servers had some corrections to the night.

Well, some of them. I'm happy to die in the game and have no desire to kill anyone. I rarely get near a weapon but wouldn't kill anyone who hadn't shot at me. I'm friendly. I give my word on that. :)
