Is there any way to see the difference between a bandit and a survivor?

Recommended Posts

Hey

1. Why was the "special" skin for bandits removed?

2. Is there now any way to know who is a bandit or not?

3. Reason i bring this up is because it can be very frustrating to try to be friendly and get shot at. Its basicly whats bugging me the most, shooting a friendly guy just because u "thought" he was a bandit.

4. In my opinion the bandit thing is making zombies not scary any more. The only thing i think about when going inside a town is "I must be carefull if not a bandit is going to kill me". Then suddenly i see an other player, try to be friendly and get shot..

5. I think that soon it will become a man hunt instead of a zombie apocalyps

If you look at them, you will hear a fast heartbeat.

Btw, does this mean overall player killed, or just player killed on that alive character?

It is total.

There is a very simple way; announce yourself on direct chat, and see if you are still alive ten seconds later.

PvP is the core mechanic of the game. It will always overshadow zombie survival as the main threat of the game.

To answer your question, the heartbeat stays even after you've died.

If you want to make friends with strangers, in game is probably not a good way to do it. It will end badly more often than not. If you insist on trying in game, at least be smarter about it. Don't run in the open waving your arms around asking friendly. Anyone, bandit or survivor, will probably shoot you if you do.

I think its if you can identify them, but I haven't waited to test it.

Not excactly trying to be friends, but if i meet a player one on one i will try not to shot him, unless he shots back and misses or something like that :P

i think zombies spawn in when you come at 200 m circa, if you look at where you want to go from a bigger distance and see the infected walking around, someone has been/is there.

That doesn't make them a bandit. In my total play time I've killed about 20-30 people, but I never did it to ruin their game. Only reason I would shoot them would be if they were too close to me and were a danger to me, they shot first or they just had really good gear I could use. Oh well, I guess that sort of makes me a bandit. But not an evil bandit who kills for fun.

Which is exactly why zombies should be removed. The game would remain the same without them. Rocket had an idea for a no holds barred zombie survival game... only the players have decided that zombies don't matter. So either rocket needs to make zombies a consequential part of the game or he needs to remove them and just rename the game "Survive!".

When you see someone type or ask them with caps lock if they are friendly. Stay hidden and keep an eye on them. What I usually do is watch them for a bit before approaching or saying anything. If they have friends they will most likely kill you since most groups are on skype or team speak talking about you.

I have come into this game being shot on site so most likely, I will shoot you on site if you have a weapon that looks threatening. Also pay attention to the weapon, most sniper carriers use them to kill players because believe it or not it is hard to kill zombies with a sniper rifle (not 100% of the case when you see a survivor with a sniper).

Remove the zombies is going to kill the game. At least in my perspective; the game is great the way it is. I do agree with you that zombies needs to be more relevant to the game.

The players did not decide that zombies don't matter. They simply decided that banditry was a valid form of play.

I actually didn't know about this heart beat thing though, that's pretty cool. is it your own heart that beats quicker, or the person he did all the killing?

Except Rocket has said that PvP is the primary focus of the game and will be the biggest threat to your life in DayZ.

While it is true that for experienced players, zombies don't really mean anything, that doesn't mean that they don't matter or never will. They just need a lot of tweaking. We probably won't see very much of it until DayZ goes stand alone, but I highly doubt zombies will stay the way they are now. I shouldn't be able to hide in a single bush to lose 30 zombies while I bandage myself.
