Gun nerf is bullcrap

found an m1911 in elektro in an office building. I see a guy come into the building. He only had a hatchet. He saw me and comes to the room im in. He charges toward me and i unload a full clip into his chest. While i reload he comes and swings his hatchet twice and im dead. Bullshit.

Arma 2 made guns;

DayZ made hatchet.

Arma 2 Beta nerfed guns,

While DayZ watched.

Hatchet > Guns :P

EDIT: That's development for ya - participating in beta patches with an alpha mod.

DayZ didn't apply these nerfs. Was the result of the Arma 2 patch. Also considering you were that close. A headshot would have been more preferable in my opinion.

No, survivors are wearing ballistic vests that protects them from handguns and some primaries. You would have died if that scenario happened in real life and you didn't shoot his head.

or the legs, then as they crawl towards you shoot them in the head. Standing in place against an axe wielding maniac who is probably high on pcp isn't advisable no matter what gun you have, though.

That assumes you truly did "unload an entire clip" and that all of those shots actually hit.

In every online game since dial up, these stories tend to be heat of the moment horror tales... and upon further investigation (demo, other players side of it) it was REALLY 3 shots fired, and only 1 hit.

7 shots of 1911, all to the chest, still kill a player.

WHY should it? Give me one logical reason. Because YOU say so?

Don't even think about adding the realism argument. It's a game against zombies. That is far from realistic. It's far from realistic that I can find a downed chopper and start flying it from getting inside. I don't even know how to hotwire a car IRL, let alone a chopper then proceeding to fly off in it.

There's this thing called BALANCE which is far more important than anything else in a multiplayer game. Granted, I'm not 100% fond on the change either BUT I'm not completely against it, so long as it's not just a couple of weapons (which it wasn't) but rather a balance across the board.

Now, here's the thing!...

You fired upon some guy who you spotted coming into the building (so you got the jump) and you failed to kill him (then you come running to the forums to whine). Deal with it. It was your fault. You say you shot him in the chest and reloaded. IF you shot him in the chest with a full clip and every one of those bullets landed, I'd have expected you would have either killed him, made him unconscious or completely screwed up his vision that he would have found it hard to hit you, let alone having the shakes, chance of leg breaking, bleeding to death etc. So, what I really think happened, you either had half a mag because you forgot to reload or you missed a ton.

But ultimately, the SIMPLE hard truth is

Why on earth did you STAND STILL WHILE RELOADING AS A GUY COMES CHARGING TO YOU WITH AN AXE! If you had hit him like you said you did and then turned around and ran he wouldn't of been able to catch up to you while you reloaded. Or, you know, just shoot him in the face?

Oh, please! So because the game isn't exactly like real life in every way, it's ok to completely dispense with realism? Realism was clearly one of Arma's guiding principles - it's a military simulation. I think we can safely presume that a certain authenticity is what Rocket was looking for, especially since most of what he's done to the game (with the exception of zombies) has made the game more realistic still, at least with regard to survival. Presumably you'd apply the same fallacious argument if Rocket introduced magic and spaceships and giant, firebreathing Marsh Warblers?

Requiring so many bullets to kill Z or players harms the immersion and is inconsistent with the nature of the game.

Ok, my two cents. If realism is the game, unloading a mag into some one will not nessisarly kill them right away(True story,Being shot is not like the movies where one shot kills you[unlessits a vital shot], yes you will probably bleed to death pretty quick but it wont kill ya. Second if true zombie lore is your game, only head shots would kill, So just enjoy the open alpha and quit b*tchin.

i bought the arma x for i'll played the realism game.. if you're shot a man with 10 shot he's 12000 blood where's a realism ? huh? oh i don't think that i'll shot always him heads.

Can you hear me dayz team ? if you can hear

plz tell me why did you nerf a pistols and some smc ?

As a member of the armed forces an as someone who has been shot IRL i can honestly say those shots may not have killed him if he was wearing a vest.. But most likely would have put him on his ass

Standard police vests are rated to stop 9 mil bullets. But if you add the sapi plates then they could go up to 7.62 ap rounds. we had a girl in iraq take 7 rounds from an AK to her chest and survived... Show did however have a collapsed lung.

If the argument for the handgun nerf was bodyarmor.... Then maybe i can see it, assuming it was kevlar weave and not SAPI plates... In which case your .45 would still have punched through

For all the headshot fans:

This is not Counter Strike. And getting headshots is so much about luck when the random bullet spread on handguns is so massive. Hell, cant even hit a tree 10 meters away with a makarov when aiming directly at the center of the tree. And add the nice little desync issues we have had like forever in the mod.

I believe you, but do we feel that we should spawn with body armor? If body armor is going to be included then it should be be something we have to loot. It seems silly that players would spawn with something as effective as body armor but no gun and few supplies. I think Rocket should raise the weapon damage again or lower player health. If he wants to include body armor, that's fine, but it ought to be loot and rare loot at that.

Ok the stupidity of these threads has gotten out of hand. Getting a headshot while being charged at while not expecting it is almost impossible. And you ALWAYS aim center mass. Never for the head. but since the recent nerf of the weapons this game has gone closer to counter strike then anything close to real.

Headshots are a luxury and in real life you aim for center mass for maximum chance of hitting your target (even at close range). Also, at close range unloading a clip into someones chest should be more than sufficient to put them down

Exactly. 1 hit from a .45 will either kill you, or "neutralize" you (rolling around on the ground like a b1tch)
