Zombies being harder to kill is more realistic.

Recommended Posts

I was contemplating many things about this latest Arma II: OA update/patch [such as zombies harder to kill/bullets doing less damage to zombies] and it hit me with this:

It's more realistic.

Now, from what I know and/or have heard/read, we are dealing with zombies, not infected. Thus, they are the undead and only need the brain to survive.

Of course, I doubt the update was intended for this, but I like it.

Zombie are much more of a threat, which makes it more intense and such.

When the movement of zombies is updated so it's far better than the current random running path of zombies, I personally think that Rocket should make it that only a bullet to the brain will kill.

[Of course, if we are dealing with infected, then it's different.]

Just some thoughts.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm mistaken! They are infected, not zombies, therefore there isn't technically a "Realistic" factor to the ability to kill the infected decreased.

Zombies should indeed be harder to kill. Maybe as hard as a player, maybe even harder.

At the current zombie state, it's not that hard to just run into a farmhouse and line them up for a shot and take them down one by one. If they'd be harder to kill, they'd have more time to get near you with the walking bug in ArmA 2.

Yes there should be more of a forced PvE threat. It is the best way to "balance" pvp really. when even the bandits own ass is on the line when he fires a shot near a town. and comon... we need haunted forests!! its boring and lame ,,, empty forests...

Nope, Rocket has said many times that they are infected and not full on zombies.

Also, this affects PvP more than PvE if you ask me, 10 M1911's bullets in chest? No problem, I got a bandage!

I disagree. As it is it takes 2-3 bullets to kill a zed and dont forget it takes time to reload which in itself can be just enough time for them to eat your face off.

Harder is always better!

Only head shots is an interesting mechanic, but some of the .50 cals make a lot of mess. Those weapons are pretty much one shots, zombie/person/hulk/whatever.

I agree that zombies in general should be a tougher challenge. Making them just tougher seems like a good solution, but maybe some zombies that are armed with hatchets or crowbars that do extra damage?

I completely agree with Rising, better zombies means better PvP. People will think twice about sniping in cherno if zombies are better at hunting people down and are more robust

"You are one of the few who have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population, now infected with the disease."

-From the front page of this very website.

They are infected, not undead. They can withstand anything a normal person could, but with an incredibly high pain tolerance.

As I said in a previous thread: people don't magically die when they're shot. Even if you hit an artery or lung, it's going to take the person a couple minutes to be dead.

In order to immediately incapacitate someone, you must either hit their central nervous system (brain, spinal cord, etc) OR convince them to stop.

In order to convince a normal person to stop, all you'd have to do is shoot them in the leg. They'll stop doing whatever they were doing out of pain and/or fear. I certainly would.

You will never convince a zombie to stop. They don't fear anything, and they don't give any fucks about pain. Therefor you MUST hit the CNS. That means hitting the head or spine.

Last I checked, pistols generally don't have enough penetration to reach the spine THROUGH the torso, therefor you must land a headshot to kill a zombie with a pistol.

Granted, these are plague zombies (instead of undead zombies), so they would eventually bleed out and die, but not before they eat you to death.

Oh, okay, thank you.

And I didn't think that weapons were nerfed against players, though.

You should put a bullet through your heart and see if you can hang in there for a few minutes. Hemorrhaging makes for a very quick death, and also your body shuts down pretty rapidly it something knicks an artery.

People don't magically die when shot, no; but their bodies will fall apart long before that point :)

People can live for minutes with a punctured heart. If you knick an artery, you'll probably live a couple minutes at least.

Before what point? Before the zombie starts munching on your organs?

Everything I said was true. For instantaneous takedown you need to hit the central nervous system.
