no no no, there are so many problems with that mod... dont agree!

What problems? You can't just throw in such a post and not give an example. And when was the last time you played A.C.E.? Maybe you played a bugged mision like many players and blame it on the mod. A server had an A.C.E.2 Domi running and after every change it got worse. I told it was the mission that was overloaded with scripts, others told it was the mod or the server...the first assumption was right.

It's worth it believe me. It's like a different game. My folders say about 3 gigs.

ACE sux, no way.

Want to make DayZ a niche market with a tiny community.... add ace

DayZ is a "hardcore" survival horror action mod/game that is extremely unforgiving and has a rather sharp learning curve. It's already in a niche market. As for the community size, again, when compared to most other game communities, DayZ's is relatively small.

The only way DayZ would not be a niche market is if it made itself more accessable to new players. It's the same problem with games like Dark Souls and Demon's Souls: the harder and more "advanced" you make it, the more you push yourself into a niche corner of the market and restrict your potential player base.

I'm not by any means saying DayZ is bad or anything, just that perhaps the person I quoted needs to learn exactly what the word "niche" actually means before they go throwing it around.

While you have my beans, I've gotta say that I think ACE2 would detract from DayZ.

However, some of the features could definitely be used, but replicated by Rocket.

I want wire cutters for the faggots who set up in churches and fire stations.

i like some of the ideas in OP post, maybe make it so while the weapon those get rusty or gets damaged from use, and that you have to clean it once a while, to make it so that it has a chance of jamming on you while you shooting non stop but not maintain your weapon.

So for example, you have brand new akm it wont jam on you in middle of shooting which than takes time to unjam it, but a weapon that been used for a while and not cleaned has higher chance of jaming for you in middle of combat.

This can create a balance of slower fireing rate weapons vs fast fireing rate weapons, since weapons that shoot more often will need more cleaning.

Something like this was in Metro 2033, were ur over used gun vs brand new one had lower chance of jaming.

excelent idea, since, DayZ was made for being realist, so, if you dont want to DayZ become more realist go and play resident evil and cure yourself with leaves..

Some of these ideas would make improve day z tremendously although I do have some notes.

It has been said above that a "niche" would be where day z would stand if more and more "realistic" components were placed without any sort of balance.

What I am trying to say is that including things like cleaning weapons to unjamming guns would turn this game off to a large player base. I myself wouldn't mind it, but the object of this game is to be successful and acquiring a player base of casual gamers and hardcore ones needs balance in how far you would take realism. Can't have everything 100% realistic.

If i understand one of the objectives is to make dayZ a standalone. That means the dev team cannot just go "fish for parts" in other mods.

You guys are over reacting to this so hard, it's not even funny. The guy suggests some aspects be brought into DayZ and you instantly think it's going to be AceZ or something.

Funny thing is DayZ and Ace already share at least one concept: The splitting of first aid into bandages, morphine, epinephrine, pain killers, antibiotics, etc exists in both mods. This was not ported over from Ace like some of you think it would be or has been. Just because they are similar does not mean the source code, models, or even the core idea came from the same source. So calm yourselves, and learn to take a grain of salt with the suggestions. Just because someone makes a thread about it doesn't mean it's going to be put in the game, so there's absolutely no reason to freak out over it to somehow prevent it from making it in, especially when your freak out is caused by a misunderstanding and misconception of what the person is trying to suggest.

Naturally there needs to be some customization, for example the toolbox can already dismantle barbed wire, so that thing needs to be split in two. I also think that the earplugs would be nice, if you haven't found a set your hearing would be ringing after firing a few too many rounds, especially with a high powered rifle or a grenade. The downside to wearing earplugs is that your hearing would be affected toward hearing zombies and other players, so it's a balancing act. Perhaps it would make the crossbow or other silent (but less damaging) weapons more feasible.

I think a lot of things coming from ACE add to the dynamic of DayZ, which is why I suggested this in the first place.

Some of the things from there are a bit of an overkill but I do like the idea of tracking down another survivor from a blood trail. Might even create separate suggestion for that.

i get it seems more realistic, but think about it, think about how much running you do in game? And if you added ACE stamina, good luck trying to carry an assault rifle AND another gun perhaps sniper (god help people with M107 or heaven forbid an LMG AND a M107!) and all the rest of the gear (how much will tank traps and engines weigh?).

All it will do in game is make you collapse every 5mins and you'll have to just lay there for another 5mins to gain your stamina back. This is annoying in ArmA 2, even with just one LMG you collapse all the fucking time.

It would make DayZ unplayable.

Which is the way it should be. It is too playable as it is. Right now the game goes like this.. first 10 min get basic supplies. Next 10 min get military gear. Wait somewhere to kill. Engines and similar items should not even go into a bag, they should be carried in the primary weapon slot and cause you to move super slow. Also fix zombie spawns while in a vehicle.

The game should be as realistic as possible and as such a total pain in the ass to play.

It's so successful and has such a following because of the realistic representation of so much. Removing the arcadey elements would further improve the experience. I should not be able to put 4 car tires in a backback and sprint across the map.

well already dayz has certain things from ace

ace mod was the first mod that had morphine epidrine food and medical equipment since arma 1

but dayz and ace would never work together because most of the guys using ace have formour military experience wich we put to use where dayz is a different story

however you can use dynamic zombie survival with ace you can also make a dayz mission in the editor using ace mod at the same time you just need to get acces to the editor while using dayz and ace at the same time

This game is meant to be realistic. So you might be playing the wrong game.

true that arma 2 is realistic in it's basic form but ace and mando missile makes it even more realistic and that is not for everyone theres no reason to be ashamed of admintting ace is too hard cause it is hard

and is only fun for certain people i like ace cause i can use many of my formour military skills without having to read too many manuals wich many of the new players don't do anyway

We will just have to wait and see what the SA brings.I doubt any suggestions here will change the dev minds.If its very gamey I am sure that eventually very hardcore servers pop up.
