Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]

Winchester has been faithful to me when i started out. Good for starters, while enfield is better for taking down players.

I generally grab a Lee Enfield and don't get rid of it until I find a proper sniper rifle, except perhaps an AKM if I find one with a lot of ammo, or maybe an American rifle with an ACOG, depending on what I'm planning to do. Ever since a guy tried to snipe me with a M107 from on top of the factory and I nailed him with my Lee Enfield (yea he sucked, but still) I've been an Enfield devotee.

Nothing wrong with the Winchester though, especially for zombies. It's so quiet.

Due to the cons and pros of both weapons i'd say they are equally good, The Poll shows this too since its exactly 50-50.

Even though they nerfed the noise on the Dinner Bell putting it more in line with the AKM and such, but i still find it to make too much noise, and generally less effective than the Winchester. I do like the Lee Enfield for sniping though.

Between the poor damage, bad rate of fire, or poor accuracy, these guns are next to useless for me. Atleast with a hatchet, I can act a fool or pretend to be a ninja.

Poor accuracy? No way. The Winchester will consistently hit a head sized target at 200 m without a problem. You're just doing it wrong.

Paint me Nub, but I like the Winchester for the "$#!T I missed... Oh well here's 14 more where that came from!!!" That said, after reading this discussion, I will most certainly be putting some target practice in with the enfield. PvP is my main failing point so to be able to plug somebody, cripple, KO or kill, at 400m reliably might help me out some. Another thing is that having a good sidearm like the M1911 (yeah i don't like military weps :P ) nulifies the "Dinner Bell" drawback unless you simply must fire at a player from the middle of cherno... Although, I believe that the M1911 is a little louder than other handguns. Need to check that one on the DB. Still the cheapest Zed kills around without a winchester.

My thoughts.

still neck and neck..winnie 124 v 123 for the dinner bell. I will take the winnie any day owing to the load time on the lee and i am only holding on to the winnie until i get an AK Kob anyway.

Lee Enfield is my weapon of choice, pretty easy to find, lots of ammo (currently have about 70 to 80 rounds for it) and its one of the more powerful weapons in the game.

For city looting I use the M1911, again lots of ammo and its reasonably powerful.

I've never died using a Winchester. With Lee, I ended up trapped in an industrial shed trying to fight the endless horde swarming the door, as with every one I killed, I attracted 5, and my poor M1911 was empty. I couldn't reload fast enough or even fire fast enough to take them out before they overran me.

Here's what's up folks. To bad the Winchester in game is a shotgun, I mean what the heck. This gun is one of the best rifles ever made for both home defense and hunting. Also, there should really be a 30 cal version of it in the game as well. I own a marlin 30/30 and it is the best gun I've ever had. This wiki article will tell you why the 1866 (if accurately portrayed in game) is the obvious choice.

Winchester Model 1866 [edit]

The original Winchester rifle – the Winchester Model 1866 – was famous for its rugged construction and lever-action mechanism that allowed the rifleman to fire a number of shots before having to reload: hence the term "repeating rifle." Nelson King's new improved patent remedied flaws in the Henry rifle by incorporating a loading gate on the side of the frame and integrating a round sealed magazine which was covered by a fore stock. Originally chambered in the rimfire .44 Henry, the Model 1866 was nicknamed the "Yellow Boy" because of its receiver of a bronze alloy called gunmetal.

These rifles were used in number by the Ottoman Empire in the Russo-Turkish War, where they made quite a name for themselves during the Siege of Plevna. The battle incidentally caused all the major powers to seriously consider adopting repeating rifles, considering the outnumbered Turks inflicted 4 times as many casualties as the Russians did with their single-shot Krnka and Berdan rifles.
