What is there to do..?

Recommended Posts

Alright, I have 2-3 blood bags, 3 morphine auto-injectors, bandages, water bottles, painkillers, epi-pens, etc., all the tools except a GPS and NVG (have binoculars), an AKM with 4 magazines, a 1911 with 6 magazines, canned food, raw meat and 2-4 cans of soda. What the heck do I do now? I think I survived.

Well, you could go for barbed wire and tank traps and make a awesome base somewhere!

I understand why they would do that. Once you get to that point, or even the point that I'm at which is hardly geared, all there is to do is attack other players so I can use the items I hoarded..

well you need a partner or those blood bags are pointless.

and liek any sandbox game, you have to set your own goals. try gettign a better gun, try getting a car, try getting down and funky with a zed.

Problem is when he logs off people can get there.

Most AWESOME thing ever would be making a base with about 25 players, and make sure there are ALWAYS people in it guarding it. That way you have an epic base where you park vehicles and have tents, lol.

Get killed and start from scratch.

Honestly, the most interesting part about it is trying to stay alive with nothing but a bandage/painkillers and a flashlight.

Even sneaking through towns at night with your nvg, which was kinda awesome the first time i did it, starts to get repetitive once you have everything you need.

Is it just me that thinks there needs to be more out of the game? Trading? Making zombies harder? I wouldn't turn into a bandit in this situation in real life. I think I'd probably just find a house or building to occupy and wait out the event like Will Smith in I am Legend. o.o

Wander around the north parts of the map and stumble onto vehicles, tents, camps, maybe even other survivors.

Sneak into Cherno and loot some buildings, even if you don't need anything. Being in a high risk area like that plays with the emotions.

Find a boat and check out the islands.

Collect as much ammo as you can and then declare war on the infected.

You're only limited by your own imagination.

Make a camp start hauling military weapons there. Join/create a group. Once you have so much stuff that there is no point getting more, happy sniping in cherno.

The problem with DayZ, no end game.

The problem with dayz, is lack of creativity from people :)

Last night I joined up with 2 others and we tried to hold the north firestation in elektro at night. Was epic fun when you are low on ammo and flares and have to go venturing 1 at a time to always hold the firestation

try getting down and funky with a zed.

The first sensible suggestion I've seen re: endgame. Zombie sex FTW!

For now: Survive.

Sadly most of the "geared out" players hunt for newbs or other players.

Not all of us do.

But, even if we did, why would that be "sad?"

To the OP: The game is what you make it. Do what seems interesting. If nothing seems interesting right now, take a break and come back in 3-6 months when the game has more mechanics and features.

My personal suggestion is to build a community of like-minded players who are interested in the game and willing to stick with it long term. No matter what rocket adds to the game I can guarantee that the most valuable item in the game will remain a group of trusted friends. And finding partners in DayZ is a bit more difficult than other games, because you not only have to find someone you trust who shares your play habits and times roughly, but it has to be someone who chooses to play the game in the way that you do. Most games make that simple by making sure there's only one "right" way to play so everyone has the same goals and motivations. But in DayZ you might find that even your real life friends don't quite get the same pleasure as you do out of the same activities in DayZ.

Good luck out there.

It's sad, because it's very narrow minded just to go kill stuff, when theres potentially so much more to the game. Personally I just explore till I die. Sure, when I see a player I mostly kill him for self defense, but in my opinion its more exciting, when you dont "force" player contact.

I absolutely adored this post because it starts with accusing people of being narrow-minded, and then immediately goes on to explain how your personal subjective values on what parts of the game are enjoyable are inherently more valid than other people's. Aren't you the one being narrow-minded in that equation? You are the one passing judgement on them for the way to they choose to enjoy the game.

Killing people in DayZ is fun. It just is. I don't see that as sad any more than saying that jumping on Goombas in Mario is fun or stabbing Darknuts in Zelda is fun. Except nobody made me feel guilty about killing them.

Ooo! But, no! That part of the game is arbitrarily forbidden. If you go there, you're lesser than everyone else. You're a "fun ruiner" and a "griefer" and you're "ruining DayZ" and you're responsible for the inevitable downfall of all that is pure and glorious and amazing about the game.

It's comical. "There is so much to do in DayZ," you say, "but make sure to choose the right activities, or you're an asshole!"

Zed, I heart you. Typing all of that on my phone would have been too much work and you did it for me.

Once your fully geared up, it's Death Match that lets you starve to death. What I do (since I want to keep enjoying the game) is stash all the stuff (with our without a map marker for wanderers), run to the coast with a pistol, and start all over.

As many have already mentioned, be creative and try different things. For my latest spawn I decided to use no guns at all. All I have is my trusty ax to keep me safe and I have to say doing so has created some of the most memorable moments I have had so far. Amazingly I have survived for 30 days though luck has played just as much a role in that as skill.

for me, it's gotten so easy to get what I need that I find myself doing full sprints through towns like Berezino to try and collect as many infected as I can, then I line em up in a building and mow em down. I'm not even worried about other players shooting at me. Finding loot all over again makes the game fun. I also enjoy trying to lose the infected by zig zagging in trees.

You learn how to make your own fun in this game or it gets old real fast.

I think now, I'm going to see how high I can get my Infected kills and try to be the #1 slot on most servers I play on.

Tried finding some buddies, but for some reason it's very difficult to actually get them on the same server, because one person will end up not seeing a server that the other person does.
