    How do I...

Also check that you have space for the item in your inventory. If your inventory is full you will not be given the option to pick up an item.

    What's your longest survival time?

Currently 152 days though I have honestly only logged in for about half of those. Usually play for about and hour or two so I figure total actual survival time around 110 - 120 hours.

A short video; Me dying in suspicious ways..

You never re-checked the first 2 two rooms before going back downstirs. Someone could have easily come upstairs while you were in the back room and been in one of the 2 other rooms as you went downstairs.

    Reason behind your username?

Started using mine some 10+ years ago while playing Day of Defeat. Loved the mod but was never particularly good at so as a joke my friend started calling me Bulletcatcher because that seemed to be the only thing I was good for. Been using it ever since.

Why all the hate on the guys that keep tents stocked?

Don't hate hoarders per se but I personally think your tents and gear stored within should be wiped when you die. To me it kind of takes away from the game if there is no real fear of death other than it being a minor inconvienence causing you to have to run back to your stash and re supply. Half the fun is having to explore and scrounge for items.

It Sounds Like It's Not Even About Zombies

I agree with Siberian. The game is what you make it. It doesn't have to be strictly PvP. The tools are there to play as you like and there are many who still choose to play the mod as a 'survival' simulator instead of a 'murder' simulator. Other players will always be part of the survival process but you can choose not to involve yourself in the wanton killing that seems to constantly take place and go your own way instead. For myself, I have been playing for about 3 months now and have logged maybe 100 - 120 hours total playing time and I have yet to kill another player. This is not to say I completely avoid any populated areas and stick only to the wilderness either. I routinely raid some of the more popular areas like the NWAF, Stary Sobor, Cherno, etc... but I have learned to move in those area with caution and patience and not running around guns blazing. I have been killed on occasion but that's part of the game and I pick myself up and move on. Survival is just as legitimate as PvP if you are willing to take the time to do it.

Does the ghilli suit have any effect on zombies

I am not sure as I only have my own personal experience to go by but I believe it may have a small effect on your overall visibility. For example, I was in Berezino last night and came across one in the hotel. I put it on and exited the hotel the same way I came in and followed the same route out of town. On my way into town my overall visibilty varied from 1 - 2 'bars' while crouch walking and on my way out it droped to 0 - 1. This is of course not conclusive as even though I took the same route both in and out I can't say I followed he exact same path.

What is the longest you have been alive?

Just died last night after 31 days. Got pegged by a bandit at the NWAF. Knew he was there and was waiting for him when I got jumped by a zed that I somehow didn't see/hear which caused me to 'announce' myself and that was that.

anyone find it weird that in dayz...

You can fill water bottles in a pond or from a well but can't drink directly from the pond or well.

    Inventory Not Saving on Logout

Experiencing similar issue with the difference being I do not lose eveything. Logged on this morning and after awhile made a pass through the NE airfield. Found a M4A1 with ammo in one of the hangers. Logged off shortly after with M4A1 equiped and fully loaded. Logged back in a couple of hours later and still had the M4A1 but all ammo was gone. Continued playing and went into Krasnostav where I found a M1911 and ammo. After awhile longer came across crashed helo site and found NV goggles (a first for me). Logged off shortly after with M1911 equipped and fully loaded and NV goggles. Just logged back in a short while ago and NV goggles were gone but still had the M1911 and all ammo. I also have not loss any other 'common' items (food, painkillers, soda etc..)so ifor me it appears to be a bit hit or miss on what I lose.

    What is there to do..?

As many have already mentioned, be creative and try different things. For my latest spawn I decided to use no guns at all. All I have is my trusty ax to keep me safe and I have to say doing so has created some of the most memorable moments I have had so far. Amazingly I have survived for 30 days though luck has played just as much a role in that as skill.

    Day Z Urban Legends

I can add another possible 'Guardian Angel' event. Had just respawned closed to Cherno and was making my way into town from the east through the field. As I get to the edge of town I spy two zeds heading in my general direction and drop prone to wait for them to go by before proceeding into town. As they get closer I hear two shots ring out from nearby and both zeds drop. I look around and see no one anywhere near me. I continue crawling into Cherno and after a minute or so make it to the east warehouse and go in. Upon exiting I spot a zed close by and attempt to make my way around it. It spots me and comes charging. I start back pedaling while swinging my newly found hatchet when I again hear a shot ring out and the zed drops like a stone. Once again I look around and see no one. I attempt to communicate with anyone in the area via direct channel but get no response. Long story short, for the next half hour or so anytime a zed gets near me my mysterious guardian takes them out but I never get a glimps of who it might be. I finish stocking up with the basics I need to head inland and proceed out of town with a parting thank you over direct chat to whoever had my back. Up until I saw this thread I just wrote the expirience off as a friendly player doing a good deed but now I am not so sure it might have been something more than that.

Do spawn lists change depending on what gear you have?

Thanks for the tip! As said, still learning as I go :)
  14. It's probably just my imagination but I am starting to think that the spawn lists change depending on what gear you are carrying. I'm sure we have all experienced a moment when we are in desperate need of a particular item only to be unable to find it no matter where we search but this phenomenon seems to have been taken to an extreme during my latest playthrough. I have only been playing for about a week so I am still learning as I go but a few examples of what I have encountered recently are... I newly spawn close to Cherno and proceed to search the town. I find a 1911 in the very first place I enter but over the next hour only find 1 magazine of ammo for it. In the process of searching I do come across over a dozen Markov (sp?) mags but no Markov. I also find ammunition for several other weapons but never come across any of those either. As I am leaving town I finally find a Markov so I decide to go back and pick up some of the plethora of ammo I have seen for it. As luck would have it I can no longer find any ammo for it but I do find 4 1911 mags that weren't there before. Since I first started playing I have seen animal roaming the countryside and forests quite regularly. I have always left them alone as I have never found a box of matches so their meat did me no good just to carry around. Today I finally found some matches. Since then I have not seen a single animal though I have made my way across half the map north of Cherno. These are just a couple of examples andby themselves mean nothing but my suspicions are growing. Maybe it's just paranoia from playing too much lately. Note... this is not a complaint. I enjoy a challenge and this mod has provided me with several of those. I am just curious if this is an intentional game mechanic or bad luck on my part.

[Report] Spawned in Wilderness/Debug Forest/Endless Ocean

Spawning into Canada 2 (which is now at 1.7.1.5 so no need to rollback to log in) worked for me. I think the key is to get far enough east past Pavlovo and stay on for a few minutes once your back in civilization so that your position is properly updated before logging out.
